I'm glad PoodleMommy! :D

I am stuck between BCs and Corgis.
Corgis are great "little" dogs. The fact that they are good heights for Flyball is a plus to.

Question: You said you're homeschooled, this tells us your age. All of these breeds will live over 10 years, do you know where you'll be in ten years? I got my first dog of my own when I was in my last semester of college, and I will tell you, it was a HUGE pain to have to go home early every night to take care of my dog. Don't get me wrong, I love her and loved spending time with her, but it was like having a 10:00 curfew (or earlier, depending on what else I was doing that day), and 10:00 is EARLY when you're in college. There are a lot of parties/social events that I missed out on, and many trips I couldn't go on because I couldn't find anyone to dog-sit (and couldn't afford to kennel her - I sometimes spent more on her food than on mine!), and if I could do it over, I think I'd wait until I got out of school before I got my dog.

BCs and Corgis are great dogs, but they need a lot of stimulation and attention. And they bark a lot, so if you ever need to live in an apartment, you might run into problems.

Lizzybeth, if you'll check Dakotah's recent posts, you'll see that she has 2 new puppies.

Going through college with a dog, I won't be able to be as reckless as I'd like. But I wouldn't trade my dogs for any amount of partying, ever.

i got my first dog at 18, mabe im "lucky" because i HATE to party i have severe social anxiety and foudn they HELPED me getting through college. but i do agree, they can hinder those who want an active party/social life.

mine though...
well again, i dont realy "go out" much lol.

i think a corgi would be a cool choice for you they are fun dogs.
a bc is definatly not MY idea of a great first dog on your own, but hey if you want that kind of energy go for it...

me i will suggest something thats not on your list.
Cresteds LOL, i know i know, its just this breed has completly won me over. and there so versatile!

Honestly duncan, methinks you're exaggerating the puppy prices you listed. I know two standard poodle breeders, and neither of them charges that much for their puppies. One breeder is also a well known professional handler (famous for his toys), and the other is the breeder of quite possibly the best blues in the country. So I'd venture to say they aren't small fries in the breed - not to mention I've known them for a long time, they're amazing and so are their dogs.

Don't assume we're all ignorant idiots about poodles - some of us own them, some of us groom them professionally, and some of us know prominent people in the poodle world. ;)

you want to email me privately? ill give you her her website and email address and you can ask her yourself how much her puppies are. im not exaggerating at all, and just have to laugh at all of you guys on this site. if you know the best breeder in the country, then you would know $2000 for a pup from these lines is not unreasonable. or maybe you really dnt know the "best" breeder.

im not saying she cant own the dog, just that if you arent prepared for the grooming (which is much harder than grooming most other breeds), then maybe this dog isnt RIGHT for her. you can do what you want, but i just thought you should know it may not be the right choice for you(which you seem to have already made yourself). im sorry to you if it came out negative, but i know how great these dogs are, but also that they arent for everyone. everyone posted these great positive things about it, and i just needed to tell you that it isnt. if you cant get your dog PROFESSIONALLY groomed, then a dog that requires it is not the dog you should get. again, im saying should, you can make your own choices.

i dont really care if you thinka ll my posts were negative, b/c there are a lot of uneducated people on this and many other sites, and i honeslty cant pretend to be nice about it all the time. being nice isnt as important as being honest with people.

ok, i hate to be the one to burst your bubble, but if you cant afford to get your dog groomed tregularly, then a poodle is not for you.

Wow its been a while since I visited this thread, haha.
I think I got the dog I'm gonna take to college with me, Luca.

I have no will in college parties. Seriously.
I'm lucky if I even look at booze in a store or think of cigs, pot, etc. Almost everyone in my family smokes and I have promised myself to never do that cause I know what it can do to you.

Thanks everyone for yalls replies.
