So far I've gotten emails or seen a few other posted replies on a forum of other people's email inquiries from Natura, Wellness, Castor and Pollux, Nature's Variety, Eagle Pack, Petcurean, and Wysong are all Menu Foods.. Some referred to specific plants.. But the concept in general makes me ill since some of the effected junky food had really horrible ingredients.. Just being made in the same plant yeesh..

And TWO still refuses to disclose who makes their one canned food or their dry food line. And while I am sure it is perfectly fine, after this mess I think I am going over to Orijen. If all these companies are willign to say Menu makes their food even in the midst of terrible things happening.. I don't see why they can't admit where their food is made. Apparently it is 'proprietary information'.

Innova too? I didn't read that.
The Natura Website has a big sign that says...

SPECIAL NOTIFICATION: Natura pet foods are NOT affected by the recent Menu Foods recall.

Natura is Innova and California Natural and one other I think. They are all Menu foods south dakota.
I thought so....I remember seeing that...

Things like this actually make me grateful I'm allergic to wheat and don't bring any gluten into the house. This is so sad for all the families it has hurt.

Canidae now has this on their website.

"Industry Can Recall

In light of the unfortunate current can recall by other respectable pet food manufacturers, our phone lines and emails are tied up with concerned customers. We want you, our valued customer, to feel secure with the continued use of our canned products. CANIDAE® canned foods in no way is affected by the recall, nor are any of our products produced in any of the recalled production facilities.

CANIDAE Pet Foods also does not produce cuts and gravies, pouches, and does not contain corn, wheat or soybeans in any of our products or formulations, and all ingredients are of US origin.

Our heartfelt concerns go out to all those affected by the recall.

Can someone link me to a list of all the companies using Menu Foods? I use Kirklands cat food, are they on the list?

I am VERY shocked that Innove EVO makes there foods at Menu Foods

I would really like to know where the TWO line is made.....Sounds like Orijen is the best of the best right now.

But I am really glad that Canidea doesn't make their foods at Menu. *sigh*

The thing is, these companies are saying that they are not affected by the recall... but they are not saying if they outsource to Menu Foods or not. This is what really scares me... I wish they would post on their websites that they do not outsource anything to Menu Foods. Although these particular companies may not use wheat gluten, just using the Menu Foods factory is enough to turn me off from their companies.

Two of my dogs are on Orijen... I think I may just have to take the plunge and see how Rylie does on it. She's on TWO, and it's fishy how they won't respond.

Some of the ones that don't use Menu at all wrote that on their sites from the beginning. Most notably Solid Gold and Fromms. they were the first two I noticed, gave you nothing to really question. It's finding out all these other brands use Menu that's sketchy.

Canidae was very specific about that in their email to me. I think i posted it on one of these links. I just came right out and asked them if they outsourced any of their production.

Quote:

Our cannery is a small facility located in IL. and able to produce the highest quality products. This small family operated facility only produces products that are of the highest quality human grade ingredients. Our formulations were created by an outside nutritionist that has been developing canned foods for over 35 years. You can feel assured by our quality and product performance that our cannery holds the highest standards in production, and is regulated by AAFCO by (NRC), USDA, FDA, IDA, EU Approved and is Organically Certified.

And...

Our dry foods are produced in TX. Our plant has been involved in animal nutrition for over 75 years. The original pet food extrusion mill was built in 1978. CANIDAE's involvement with the plant sparked the introduction of our own extruder in 1999. Our dry goods facility also regulated by AAFCO by (NRC), USDA, FDA, TDA and EU Approved. We are currently under production with a brand new plant at the same facility to keep up with the growth and demand of our product line.

Taken from Orijen's website:

Champion Petfoods is an family owned-and-operated, independent producer of quality pet foods. We are the exclusive producers of both ACANA and ORIJEN -- these brands are never produced or co-packed by another manufacturing facility.

As such, Champion Petfoods is unaffected by the unfortunate product recalls experienced by Menu Foods and in no way connected to these products. We would like to express our sympathy to all those who have been affected.
