It was in Obama's speech
Didn't watch that, wasn't around when it was played. Best i could do was catch what the networks said about everything. I don't go out of my way to find presidential speeches or look up articles and transcripts. And don't tell me "maybe you should start". Most people don't do that and just catch what the reporters say, which leads to many people only hearing what i heard.

Also the way they did it was their plan b. The news is reporting that plan A was actually a bombing but Obama did like that because then their might not be any way to tell if he had been there or if he had been killed. Plan B meant they could ID him and ensure he was either captured or killed. So it was defiantely not a one night planning. It took a lot of work and fore thought.

I would never say this. I rarely watch the news honestly. I find it just too depressing most of the time and just don't need the stress. I saw someone up date their status last night on facebook and that is how I found out and have been watching the news since then. You can only go by what you hear when you hear it. So no worries.

I can't believe they buried him at sea. They should have mailed it back to his family.

I don't think holding onto his body would make a difference. He's not a "leader" hiding out somewhere, now he's a martyr. IMO, killing him made him more dangerous than he ever was alive.
You hit the nail right on its head. I have a nagging feeling, that terrorists were pissed before. Now, they are even MORE pissed. Im not saying Im not happy hes dead... Just maybe the US shouldn't party too hard?

Call me devils advocate, but a terrorist really is defined by what side of the line you're standing. For 1000s of innocent civilians that's not yours.

9/11 was horrific, but so is the slaughter of innocents in those countries troops invade and destruction of their homes and lives. It's just more acceptable when its not on your doorstep.

Osama was a symbol more than the devil incarnate, there'll be another waiting in the wings.....

They buried him at sea so there can be no shrine, not because of Islam. That's the 24hr part.

I'm mixed on the whole thing to be honest. Time will tell.

Speaking of conspiring, seeing all this tension between Presidant Obama and Trump I find it ironically funny that the Presidant held his speech right a the pinnacle point of the show, right before the Donald fires the staff. It was kind of funny, bet you Donald didn't.....lol

It's a good thing that he is dead, but I cannot help but feel his 'buddies' will not be very happy about all the celebrating in several countries.

Apparently the UK is going to be extra vigilant from now on. I think its more worrisome no he is dead.

I'm not terribly concerned about retaliation. Yes, there will be more attempts, and they are just as likely (if not more likely) to be the miserable failures like virtually every attack since 9/11 in the US and the underground bombings in the UK.

This post makes a good point about what Osama cost us . . . or more correctly, what he caused us to do to ourselves.

Its not just the people he killed.

It seems like some are suggesting we should have forgotten about him. Ignoring the specific facts, he was an internationally wanted mass murder suspect. Generally speaking, we don't let murderers hide out because they don't want to stand trial. He has been wanted by the FBI for at least half my life.

No, he was not operationally the leader of any new plans, but he was still part of the group trying to hold the various factions together. Even recently, he was releasing recordings of threats. While it might increase the threat to us for a while, it does show that we can find well hidden terrorist leaders, this would not be a good time to be #2 in their leadership.

I don't think the fear of getting eventually caught is a huge deterrent for extremists. The way the US population, at least the images that are broadcasted everywhere, has reacted to these news will only add fuel to the fire and make someone else more willing to step up to the plate.
