No, a lot of the details seem to fit too neatly. I said right away that the conspiracy theorists would have a field day. Add to that the "burial at sea in accordance with Islamic law" you now have the absence of a body.

JFK was shot and killed, on camera nearly 50 years ago. People still talk about the conspiracies behind it. Human nature, I guess :dunno:

Yeah I do wonder why the body was disposed of so quickly. I would have thought we'd want to keep it for proof at least for a while.

I thought this, too. But can you imagine if they knew we were still holding the body... don't you think that would be dangerous? His 'followers', I'm sure, wanted to hold a proper burial for him and would have done anything to get that body back, I would think.

I am just glad that sick ******* is dead. And proud to be an American! I wish I could say 'thank you' to every member in our military of every branch. I'm so incredibly grateful for their service and keeping us safe.

I'm sort of with Dizzy on this one.

I mean, I'm glad he's been proven dead for the sake of people affected by 9/11 from a resolution standpoint, but not only could this cause some major retaliation (the U.S. just shot and killed the at-least-previous leader of Al-Quaeda, a man revered by -his- people for being the leader of the 9/11 attacks, then took his body too... can't see that going over well) but the terrorism and hatred will not stop with the end of one man. Arguably, it could get worse.

I hate being the negative nancy, and I hope I'm wrong, and it's probably me speaking partially as a non-American, who knows.

I think the best thing they could have done was dump over the side of boat at sea. I would have wrapped him in a pig and cremated him first. No memorial, no nothing. nobody will ever find it.

I wouldn't have cared if they brought his head back and put it on a stake at ground zero, I don't care that they didn't though either. I do believe he's dead, and I do believe it's symbolic more than anything.

Same here lol

I think its a little scarier that he's dead, and that the others might feel a need to retaliate, because he hasn't been doing anything the last couple years right?

9-11 was a one time thing for him, at least to my knowledge. The idea of was freaks me out, and I really don't want the other terrorists to feel a need to retaliate
not really a one time thing. there was the USS Cole bombing, a few US embassy bombings in Africa, the Tower bombing in the 90's with vans, then 9-11. I'm sure there were others. He's been quiet lately, but that will happen when an army is out looking for you. Doesn't mean his hatred or scheming has stopped.

I don't think anyone here thinks this will end terrorism. In fact all over our news, etc, is that we need to be on high alert now because of potential retaliation. People are well aware that this could bring retaliation.

He killed thousands of innocents and they deserve at least the little closure this offers. This has been such a long, drawn out ordeal and Bin Laden's death marks at least part of an end and closure to 9/11 that we didn't have.

And I do see why they got rid of the body already. I still would like some more 'proof'.

I don't think holding onto his body would make a difference. He's not a "leader" hiding out somewhere, now he's a martyr. IMO, killing him made him more dangerous than he ever was alive.

If you want, it should be about justice, not about triumph. Singing "we are the champions" in front if the white house? Please.

They want you to feel all giddy and proud, believing in the American mission. Why? So you'll be ready to support a new war in Libya. And then Gaddafi can become the new Osama. Just a richer one.

Absolutely.

It wasn't really directed towards most folks I know, who are both relieved and skeptical of retaliation.

I have a lot of opinions on the matter that I won't say, because my opinion is not the popular one.

They are running DNA tests from samples of the body.

As much as for practical reasons I wish they had not disposed of the body so quickly, it was the right thing to do. That really is the tradition, and by disposing of his body in the correct amount of time, in accordance with the proper rituals, we are showing again that this is a not a war on Islam . . . it is a a fight against terrorism in general and AQ in particular. Being respectful of the dead, even if the dead is our worst enemy, is the right thing to do.

His name was Osama, not Obi Wan. I don't think he'll have any more to do with recruiting new terrorists now than he did before. i do believe he'll have less because they won't have his money.

as for the people singing in the streets acting like we actually won something? yeah i'm happy as hell he's dead, it's about time. It brings closure to the families that were affected and the figurehead is gone, but really you act like we won something. Trillions spent, thousands dead and as many people hating each other as before. Quite celebrating in the streets, you look like the buffoons that parade dead US soldiers around buring flags

Just watching them review it on The View... It all seems too neatly wrapped and tied with a bow. No soldiers got hurt, they had enough time to "practise it 2-3 times", no one else was killed in that compound. They went room to room looking for him and killed him.

... Just too perfect.

I'm just not really sure. Time will tell.

They killed at least 3 other people. All the news I've heard is reporting his son was killed along with another man (or two) and a woman.

Actually they are saying 4 others were killed as well as him. His son, two couriers and a woman used as a shield.

I think its easy to forget that this wasnt some random attack where wow, we caught him. We just found out about it so it all seems quick and too convenient. From what Obama said last night, this has been in the works in some form since last August. That is why it went so smoothly (or as smoothly as it could). It takes a lot of intel, and practice, and the right timing to come together to pull something like this off. This is also why id was pronounced so quickly.

what does practice time have to do with it? They do that for everything, and this has been in the works since last August. it's not like they just casually put that out on the news ahead of time.

D-day involved thousands and thousands and they planned and practiced for two years before the invasion of Normandy, and the Germans still didn't know when or where we were attacking. I imagine they can practice with a small team how this would go down, a few times with nobody really knowing much.

and it wasn't that smooth, they blew up one of their own helicopters they came in on, had to call in a spare, and had the Pakistani air force scramble jets on them because they didn't know who they were.

It's just the way they seem to be saying it on the news like the army just kind of wandered upon this place and did a couple practise runs and then got him, wham bam thank-you ma'am. I don't watch the news regularly, so when something like this comes up i flip over to a news channel and check it out and no news network i watched said anything about it being planned since august, they made it seem like it was "oh look we found a mansion, perhaps osama is in there" then the next day he was killed. That's the fault of the news i guess.
