I think that people need to realize that we all have the right to walk our dogs on leash and expect NOT to be approached by a dog off leash...friendly or not. Accidents do happen but boy, they sure can change the life of a responsible dog owner and her dog.
Amen.

With respect, why don't you just muzzle your dog? yes loose dogs are annoying, but there will always be loose dogs regardless of when and where you go. Always. How many of the loose dogs that you have come across have actually been aggressive? not many I bet. It is not the dogs fault it is loose and it certainly doesn't deserve to have its 'face ripped off' because its owner is irresponsible.

I went over this in a thread before and told you why I won't muzzle my dog.
I'm not going over it with you again.

I feel your pain. It is so hard loving a dog that has extreme DA. I think using a treadmill is a great idea. I wonder if after getting her energy out on a tredmill if it would decrease her DA on walks?

I had a DA dog for more than 7 years. I could not find a muzzle that worked on my BT mix. Birdie did rip up the upper lip of a beautiful young lab. Then she turned on Jackson. I never could find the lab dog again, she needed stitches.

As I recall in the last thread you trolled in we had that discussion, in addition to the "labs are perfect 'pitbulls' are evil" one. As I also recall, you were completely out-debated and for various reasons many chaz members feel that it is counterproductive to muzzle their dogs. If, for some reason, your memory of that discussion is fuzzy, please refer to the old thread and leave your inane suggestions out of this one.

. . . and Labra WINS in the competition of "tangents completely pointless to the actual topic!"

Who cares if the dogs are aggressive or not? Who cares if they are DA or DR, or have selective DA? Obviously those situations would all have different outcomes, but it's not the point. The point is that all of these dogs are rude, off-leash, and out of their owners' control, and IN ELLA'S FACE, which sets back Chewbecca's training and makes her poor dog flip out when they SHOULD be on a LEASH as per the LAW (are you familiar with that concept?) and under their owners' control.

It is not the dogs fault it is loose...
Wow, a sensible remark out of you for once! No SH!T, sherlock. It's the fault of the irresponsible owners. And, magically, not Rebecca's fault, either! Who'd have guessed? As has been said previously in this thread everyone has a right to walk with their under-control, leashed dogs and not have other dog's barging into their personal space.

t certainly doesn't deserve to have its 'face ripped off' because its owner is irresponsible.

Where did she say any dog deserves to have its face ripped off? Rebecca made this thread because she was freaked out that her dog could have hurt another dog - a little common sense, and, oh, maybe reading her posts might have provided the truth there instead of making nasty ASSumptions. It's sick you would suggest a dog lover wants other dogs' to "have their faces ripped off."

Now, go stick your snoot in another thread.

I don't find it hard to love my dog at all. She's been a pure blessing in my life and I'm glad that I have her. She was meant to be with my family and me.
She LOVES people and is willing to share her ball with all who come through my front door.
I'm working on her DA, it is what it is. I've lived with it so far, and so has she, and if she doesn't "magically" become non-DA anytime in the future, whatever.
I'm happy to love her as she is.

Oh my.

I am having a HUGE case of the warm fuzzies here now. If I ever get to be a dog, I SO want to be your dog!

With "respect", why do you insist upon taking sides with the irresponsible assholes of the world and bashing us responsible owners for "not doing enough."

I seriously don't get you.

I guess you suppose it's MY fault that a 100 lb lab mix bolted out it's open front door, ran straight at my child (who was in the jogging stroller), got into a fight with my dog, bit ME, and then a shotgun ending the life of MY dog compliments of the other dog's owner. I guess I should've just put a muzzle on my 40 lb bitch so she couldn't fought for her life that way.

well said. ella is a lucky dog.

i am fortunate that i was able to take luce from freaks out to the point of vomiting at the sight of another dog to a dog who can exist at a dog show without losing her mind, but even if i hadn't been, i wouldn't love her any less. she is a wonderful, sweet, dynamic, hilarious dog. dog aggression doesn't change any of that.

This is one of the EXACT reasons I will NOT muzzle Ella. I take lots of walks with my sons and Ella. If an off leash dog were to EVER come at us in an aggressive manner, don't think for a SECOND that I won't allow my dog to defend us. Well, she might not "defend" us for us, but she'll be d@mned if another dog is going to get into HER bubble.

Here's what your "precious...always innocent" Labs can do (& this was just one single bite!....I thank God that my dog managed to get a throat hold on that Lab when the Lab had my leg in it's mouth):

And here's the dog, that you say is 100% at fault for the whole thing. My son will grow up without his best friend and I will never see the dog that I bred, birthed, and handraised.

But not that you care....................

Historically, you have a habit of popping into threads and picking out one point that is NOT the issue of the thread and trying to pick a fight - much like an untrained, obnoxious, off leash dog.

And that "with respect" isn't fooling anyone. From much of your behavior toward others here, it's open to question whether or not you even understand the concept of respect.

I don't think Ella's the one who needs to wear a muzzle here.

This is a VERY touchy subject for me. In a way, I see your point. But MY dog DIED...was killed....all because someone's dog escaped out the front door when it wasn't closed properly. Not tomention that the dog also planted it's teeth into my upper thigh which has resulted in some nasty scars.

So we DO have a right to be angry. I understand dogs get out. But I don't accept excuses. It's just the way it is with me.
Your situation is very different. I do not ever leave my front door open, much less unlocked. I check my gate in the morning and at night. And, my dogs would never attack the way you were attacked. I would also not pull out a gun and shoot instead of calling my dogs back if they were to escape out the front door. You can be angry, but they aren't excuses, sometimes accidents happen.

ETA: I didn't see the pictures of Mia... *sigh* Such a beautiful soul. I am teary-eyed just thinking of what you went through and my heart aches for you still.

Thank you, guys.:)

And, Mia, those pictures brought tears to my eyes.
Everytime I think about that situation, my eyes water.

Because I want to make SURE that you read it, I am posting this again.

WITH RESPECT, do you notice that each post in which you intend to be an ass in you start off with "no offense", "with respect" or whatever meager bullshit you think will sugarcoat the foulness you type? Do you ever get enough of yourself? Do you ever just stop and think about what good can come out of a thread before you let your fingers walk over the keyboard? Do us all a favor and step off your high and mighty pedestal, it does not become you.
