I know a border collie named Sooner (as in "sooner than later").
John's dad has a dog named Sooner. He said it's because she is a German Shepherd mix... "if another Shepherd had gotten there sooner she would have been a purebred". :lol-sign:

Well, I have never met another Django. One of our Dalmatians was named Phyllis. (She was already named when we got her though.) A friend of mine has a dog named Spot (not a Dal) and for as a generic name as that is, you almost never actually meet one. I used to know a Shar Pei named Poodles.

I've been told that Bimmer and Kharma are weird names, lol.
Bimmer is weird, Kharma is just uncommon. Have I ever told you how much I LOVE the name Bimmer, btw? Where did you get that from..?

Someone was commenting to me that the worst possible nightmare puppy would be a JRT/APBT cross. The JRT part would ensure that it got into EVERY freaking thing, and the APBT part would further ensure that would never give up no matter what
Add a little Greyhound, if you want a truly maniacal puppy.

I knew someone who had a dog named Scootchie. And I had a friend that had a puppy and named it "puppy." They couldn't think of a name for it so they just called him puppy.

My grandma had a dachshund named spunt (Pronounced shpoont) which means cork in Czech (like a cork in a bottle) We had a Scottie named Ahoj (Pronounced like ahoy only with the accent on the first syllable) And I've never run into another Uncle Fred.

I get comments a lot on my choice of names for the dogs.

Akecheta
Sukari
Miakoda (although I'm seeing that one more & more)
Chenoa
Takodah

Shaker
Undertaker (aka Taker)

Chipper (as in Chipper Jones)
Ripken (as in Cal Ripken)
Jeter (as in Derek Jeter)

Mudbug
Zydeco
Orion
Zulu

We use 3 name categories for the dogs: Native American, Baseball, and Cajun/Creole/Looziana names. The above are just a very small handful I'm giving for examples.

I also had a Lab/Rottweiler named Bob. :D
Thats cool that you had a Zydeco too :)

Working in a vet clinic you get a lot of odd names.

Like 'Song Sung Blue' because the breeder demanded that the dog have three names and the first one must begin with an S and the last with a B (her initials) so they named it Song Sung Blue. Thing is, when I read that, I read it to the tune of the song and they looked at me like I was crazy so I go "it's a song...by Neil Diamond" and they'd never heard of it before . They were middle age too! How could they not have heard of it?!

But, the oddest name I've ever heard, was Windshield. It's the goofiest looking dog too. It was thrown out of a car on the highway and hit their Windshield so it kind of makes sense name wise but still...Windshield?

My little step-sister named their family Husky "RainbowHeart". Poor dog! He was a boy, too. haha.

I have a friend who named his huge Mastiff x God-knows-what, Prometheus. It's a fitting name, he's huge and very noble looking. I think Greek God names are very cool.

People make fun of my dogs' names a lot... I don't know if they would be considered very unusual, though. : )

My parents had a dog called Quits. They spent ages trying to think up a name, back and forth etc. Eventually my father said "oh come on, lets just call it quits" obviously not meaning the dog, but it kinda stuck. LOL!

I knew these people who waited FOREVER to get a puppy, had a lot of trouble finding a breeder, and when they finally got their dog, they named him Finallywhich i thought was pretty cool.
