If she is not on gov. assistance and pays her taxes, etc. and it makes her happy, who are we to tell her no?

I do feel bad for her daughter though.

Because shes needlessly consuming obscene amounts of food, neglecting her kids by bedridding herself and purposely making her own health decline for the sheer fact she wants to be 1000 pounds...whats right with it?

Besides what kind of example is she setting for her kids? I cant imagine not only the bullying the kids are going to recieve at school, but also the extra hassle doing all the housework or money making while having to hand mommy her 30th ham sandwitch cause shes too dam fat to get up and get it herself. On top of all that whats it gonna show the kids about ambitions...that mommies biggest goal was to become as fat as she possibly could? please

I doubt shes even considered what will happen if she dies

Wow.
That is really sad.
As far as the effect on the children, I think the article says it well:
What will happen when she is completely bedridden due to her size and the inevitable medical complications that come with less and less activity and more and more weight? What will happen to the children left with that legacy if her mother does not survive her own pursuit of the 1,000 title? What are these children learning too early about misplaced ambition, well-being, self-care, and just staying alive?

I can not believe that nobody else is still scratching their eyes out from merely the idea of the website where you can watch her bathe herself.

My horse possibly weighed less than 1000 lbs at the worst of his health issues. I just...can not imagine a person weighing more than my 17hh horse.

Or watching her bathe.

Oh, believe me, I am. Apparently that's how she earns all or part of her income (don't remember which). *sigh*

That'd be pretty sweet.

Let's all try to be 1,000 pounds and people might start paying.

LOL, me neither. I don't want to die before I'm 25 or have the fire department use the jaws of life to get me out of the bathroom when I can't fit through the door. Interesting way to make money, though!

At the end of the article:
Could this woman's 1,000-pound ideal be considered neglect of her children?
My answer to that would be YES, and if it isn't complete neglect YET, it will be soon enough.........she might get around somewhat now, but there's noway she'll be able to care for them as she gets more and more bedridden.

$815 a week on groceries? It breaks my heart to spend over $200 a week to feed the SEVEN people in this house.

I would like to know if this woman has had a psyche evaluation honestly. Sounds like a mental issue............just sad.

I agree.

if it was just her then do whatever the heck you want but it's NOT. she has a responsibility to her kids and this is NOT responsible behaviour. How is she going to take care of those kids? how is she going to get out to buy those groceries?

and like mentioned in the article... what about her inevitable death and the health complications? I mean we all die some day and some sooner than later but she's pretty much choosing death sooner rather than later. her kids are going to be the ones caring for her and that's wrong when they aren't even adults themselves.

I agree with Sparks and Acooper.

Those poor children who she'll be leaving behind at an early age. I hope that she's stashing money away into trust accounts for those kids, since I doubt any life insurance companies will take her on.

Not only will no life insurance companies cover her, I'm sure she'll have a hard time getting medical coverage based on her lifestyle.

When (note I did not say "if") she has her heart attack and has no health insurance, we'll be stuck with the bill. It would never, ever happen, but the gubbermint should make her sign a waiver or something that saying that she agrees that she won't be covered on the tax payer's dime for anything medical or social service related.

You can bet her kids will be on food stamps and every sort of assistance there is . . . and don't be surprised if the kids don't get to eat much of what's bought with those stamps :madgo:

Wonder how long it will be before SHE'S on disability . . . .

I read this. I feel terribly sorry for her kids. But other than that . . . I really don't care.

There's not a lot of people like her . . . in fact, I'd guess she's one of a kind. Yes, the taxpayer will probably end up paying for her, and I'd rather not, but no matter how much it costs, it will be so tiny compared to overall costs that I can't bring myself to worry much. That and when she gets sick, she's likely to die FAST . . . there's not much they can do for people that heavy.

She's a strange, likely mentally ill, sad case of a human being. Oh well. There are plenty of such strange, crazy, sad people out there. At least she's decided to kill herself, and not anyone else. I don't see the point of getting angry about it, honestly.
