Whatever is going on, Stephy, you need to step back and start making healthy, good choices for yourself. There is no way to sugar coat it, I'm afraid. The only way anything will get better is if YOU choose to make it better. One step at a time. One good decision at a time. It won't seem like much but in a year from now you can look back and see where you've come from and realize that your choices make all the difference.

Please go look into the links posted here. Find some help and find the courage to make healthy choices for yourself.

Yes there were times that were tough for me too, when I was just starting out my life (18) I lived in the finest Eco apt you could imagine ( It didn't even have a stove) & ate those cup-o-noodles every night because I had a dog at the time ' in order to afford good food for her (she was grain allergic) I skimped on my own needs.

But NEVER did I even think About selling my body, I could have lets say ... worked at an escort service for really good money instead of busting my ass making $5 an hr cleaning stalls all day BUT I would have missed out at becoming assistant manager 3 yrs later after working up to it or excersising hunter jumpers for ppl on the side for about $40 per horse.

Now I am on my way to becoming a race horse trainer/ owner & if I had taken the easy wy out I never would be where I am today. I'm not saying that I don't feel sympathy for stephy ... I do, & my prayers that she remains safe to out to her ... BUT (& this is a BIG but) you at some point have to help your self. "Commit" yourself if you have to in order to get the help you need (I don't know how the mental health lAws are in CA).

Please please love yourself enough to get the hemp you need.

I know things are different country to country but my cousin's sometimes husband went through some rough times last year. He was able to secure a spot in a shelter, and then for good behavior (securing a job, following the few rules) was moved to a place with private rooms. He worked at a home improvement store for a bit so he could have the time to look for higher paying positions. He did manage to find a job good enough that he has a small apartment of his own now.

You can do it Stephy. I don't think the shelter is a bad place to be, and there will be HELP there to get out too.

This is odd. Who is Twin_Dogs? Just stumbled upon Chazhound and happens to post the first two posts in this thread? Just saying.

Anyway, I agree to not buying the whole story... But I also agree that you need help, Stephy. If it all is true, and it might just be, let us help you. If it is not, let us help you, too.

I'm not a new member. I've been a member since 2008. Then i Forgot my password. And yes, first day I came back and this is the post I saw and since someone asked how prostitution is regarded in Canada, I felt obligated to reply as a Canadian. ;)

Kudos! What a find example of what your choices lead you to. There are loads of people who start out at menial jobs and work their way up or it leads to another and better job...often more interesting and self esteem boosting. The sex industry is likely to do just the opposite. It is not only inherently dangerous, but will dig you deeper and deeper into a world of despair.

The better and smarter choices you make...each little step in a positive direction will in itself be like doubling a penny every day. You must stop looking at everything as if it's painted all in black and rise to the challenge. Instead of looking at the shelters as lousy places, look at them as a roof over your head, heat and food...a place to rest to be relatively safe in until you get on your feet. I know you can do it Steph.;)

"Join Date: Nov 2008." Pretty sure they didn't just "stumble" upon Chaz recently and "happen" to post their first posts in this thread, it looks like a fairly long time lurker who decided their opinion was just as valuable as other members and chose this thread to post their views. I see nothing wrong.

Everyone that has posted links, supportive information, messages of encouragement, positive vibes, and wise counsel; Thank you all very much <3. I truly am grateful and will try my best to heed the advice.

I've just come home to grab a bite and rest - heading out again soon to meet a friend and maybe pay my cell bill as well (as if I need to be $80 poorer right now...). I haven't much energy to post more but just wanted to come on to say thanks to everyone that's trying to help, be constructive, and help me get on the 'right' track.

Get a cheaper phone plan. There is no need to spend $80 a month on your phone when you are struggling to support yourself.

Yup, prepaids are an option too I think. If it gets hairy you can use the Internet at the library and cut your data plan.

Prepaid isn't really an option here.

Not defending her choices. But we pay through the NOSE for phone here. I picked up a cheap burner phone and did prepaid when I visited the states a couple of years ago and was really impressed. That is not an option here.

80 is a bit high, but if its your only phone and you need to stay in touch with family she might not be able to knock it down too much. 50 bucks is about standard if you don't want to call much.

Yes, phone plans can be quite expensive here in Canada, BUT now that small phone companies are emerging its starting to become more competitive. But if you really are experiencing "tougher times" having "top of the line price plan" would be the least of my concern. $80 a month is too much for someone who isnt making any money. At the moment when the going is tough, just get what you can afford. I have a dependable income but I still chose to shop for an affordable phone plan. $57 a month for Unlimited Canada wide calling, Unlimited SMS/MMS canada/int'l, 6 GB data and value pack.

I pay $25 a month unlimited everything for prepaid phone.

ETA: in a small city in the country, yah, it may be harder. But she's in Vancouver. Where there are smaller companies to choose from.
