I sure missed something about your dog. I'm so sorry he is so hurt. What happened? The vet will fix him up and he'll be OK, I'm sure. But I know how expensive it can be. Jose had surgery on his patella and it was $500.00 and he may need it again. It doesn't seem to be holding too well. Then there's the other leg that might need it one day. It's incredible. Poor Ozzie. Give him a hug from us when you can.

Most vets will let you pay something every month and you can find somewhere else to cut back, hopefully. I wish you the best in finding a job. Is there anything you can do with computers? You seem to know a lot about them.

Well...let us know how Ozzie does and how you do too. Sending my thoughts your way.
He escaped from me the other day, when I took him for a walk. I couldn't find him for a couple hours, and I think he was hit by a car, or attacked my something.. My original post is here: http://www.chazhound.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16551&page=4

Update:

Oz has a splint on his leg now.. He doesn't like it at all, and he's in quite a bit of pain.. The vet gave me 50 mg Deramaxx (pain med) for him; it seems to help. He has to wear that thing for two months, poor guy. I'm so glad he's going to be okay though.

Glad he's back with you and on the mend! Have you tried him on some arnica, its very good for bruising and will help with the pain.

Give him a gentle hug from me.

No I haven't heard of it, what is "Arnica"? Where do I get it? How much is it?

Next time I hug 'em I'll say it's from you! :D

Thanks.

Its a homeopathic medicine available from health stores over here, not sure about where you are though. Tiny little tablets that they dont even notice if you put it in the food. Again on price I wouldnt know in your area.

Hope you and pup are doing ok.

Update:

We're doing great actually! He's still not feeling well because the splint is uncomfortable, but other than that we're doing awesome!! ;)

There haven't been any potty accidents in 'several days'.. :D And Ozzy is acting less submissive! YAY!!!

I've been following everyone's great advice, and things are turning out just like I wanted. We've overcome some pretty large hurdles this week; With Oz getting hurt, working on potty training, and anti-submissive behavior - he's been through a lot, but he's doing great.

I'll keep you posted, ~Rob :)

Don't be surprised if you haveminor set backs along the way because occasionally a dog will get nervous of something and revert back. Just do the same thing that you are doing now and it will pass quickly.

Congradulations you are well on your way to having a great family pet.

Merry Christmas!

Yeah I still expect a few accidents along the way. At least we're making progress! :)

Merry Christmas to you too. :)

Not only that, but there is a "terrible two" phase anywhere between 7-12 months old, where you may find yourself comepletely re-house training.

Labs tend to be pretty sound when it comes to house training, so this toddler stage is usually more of a destructive one. But my Jack Russells... LOL ... now they're a different story. :D

Why thank you. :) A Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2006 to you and your loved ones too!

Ozzy is doing much better!! He's (we're) so happy now. He isn't nearly as submissive as he was. And he hasn't had any accidents in over a week - which is amazing from where we were at the beginning of this thread.

Happy Holidays to the helpful Chaz community! :D
