I used to have that problem all the time, but I have come to the decision that I'm no longer looking for a purebred dog (And if I ever did come to the conclusion that I was, I already know I'd get another Miniature Schnauzer), and am only looking to rescue, so I've no clue what I may get. Just have to find the right dog.

Oohhh... man.

Maybe something like..

A lady Aussie, or just another.. female, or maybe even a mini .
A lady Dobe.
A boston.
A boston/pitty.
I would love an Am. Staff or an Am. Pit, but that's probably not realistic for me :(

Who knows what else. That might just be my top list of the month :lol-sign:

Paige, you reminded me. I've always secretly wanted a redbone or blue tick coonhound.

heck i still have to figure out what type to get next before i decide on breed
sighthound to run w/ the one i have
bull/mastiff to run as a kill dog w/ the sighthound and eventually as a catchdog for boar
cur dog to help find & kick up game especially fox & coyote
terrier to pull game out of a hole
You should get another sighthound to run with Sonic (he'll appreciate it, believe me) and then get a couple of the others you mentioned to round things out a bit. ;)

There are some other hounds I'd really like to live with some day. We'll always have a few borzois around for sure.

Sloughi
Deerhound
American Staghound
Ibizan
Coonhound (not sure what type, I like them all too much. It could even be a mix of different coonhound breeds)

Small cuddly dogs:

Longhaired Chihuahua
Hairy hairless chinese crested

Probably get talked into a collie at some point. lol.

Robert wants a ridgeback, I think he'd do well with one. If we EVER are crazy enough to get a sporting dog again, it will be a spinone. I love Charlie dearly, but life would be sooo much easier without him (more boring too, but sometimes that's a good thing. :lol-sign:)

I plan to adopt a geriatric husky someday. They are totally not the right breed for me, but I love them and there are old dysplastic sibes out there who really need homes. I think I could totally handle one for 5 years or so. Plus, after raising Charlie I don't think any dog could knock me over with it's energy level.

Laur, I asked about the calmness and drive between cardi and pems on another board. The general consensus is that cardis are much calmer and reserved in general, but they aren't less drivey than pems. They just have more of an on or off mode, little in between. Pems are more busy and in your face.

As one member put it:
think of a party; the Cardi is the butler and the PWC is the one dancing on a table with a lampshade on her head

Hi have had the great pleasure of meeting Zucci in the flesh! He is an AWESOME dog. He has such a go getter attitude and is super friendly. I am hopefully going to get a pup of his one day.

i'm leaning most heavily toward a cur or larger terrier (30-40#), but if i stumbled into the right running dog (like David Hises bullX coyote dogs). i've got about 1 1/2-2 years of crap i have to wade through before i can get serious about building a good all around hunting pack.

Renee
i'd love a fila if it looked like the ones in the B&W pics & could run a cat all day, but most of what i see is sooo heavy and loose skinned they almost look like a neoXbloodhound.

You would love Kharma. She is the spitting image of those dogs :) She has -- literally -- herded up almost 80 head of wild (as in you can't get close enough to then to touch them for anything) Angus, spread out over two pastures, approx 70 acres, of woods, pond, hills and open pasture all by her lonesome. That's cows, calves and bulls. She caught and killed her first groundhog at 5 months old and is death on pretty much any varmint that moves, lol.

I think you'd appreciate this site more than most people: Fila Brasileiro and Neopolitan Mastiff One of the things it explains is why you are seeing those Faux Filas. :(

I get chills when I see these dogs -- the one in the forefront could be my Buffy and the other two could be Kharma.

Okay I know I'm way behind on this- but I am also a border collie owner who's had a lab and could never have another lab or a jrt either! :) I find a border collie energy a lot more manageable. I can deal with it better- it's more organized.

Our weekly schedule now that we're not living in a city that's got dog parks within 2 minutes is generally:

one day at daycare (10 hours for 25.00 for the day)
one day at the dog park (about 1.5 hours)
one day at agility (1 hour)
two days of walking (1 hour each walk)

The other two days I usually try to squeeze in a 20 minute walk and a new bone, or maybe a short traning session and I set the sprinkler up for him, or we do 25 minutes of frisbee, or his baby pool and fill it with cups and bowls for him to play with, or I take him in the car for an hour on errands. It's really not too bad! I find as long as I keep up with the mental energy I'm good. Granted he's not as crazy as some-but I anticipated that when I chose his litter.

We've had periods where there were 3 days when I could barely get a walk in due to work, and he survived!

Mia and I do about three-ish hours a day doing things. Sometimes more and sometimes less. I can wear her out inside for about a day but then she'll start driving me crazy lol. I feel pretty confident handling her and the shelties that a BC isn't out of the question.

Nothing until the Brat is 3 or older though!

The following are all dogs I'd like to have some day...

Bedlington Terrier
Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Shiba Inu

... I'm kind of partial to smaller dogs, so whenever I get another dog, it would probably be either the CKC or the Shiba... but those Bedlington's are awfully cute, so maybe we could overlook the size.

I have a number of breeds that I would consider in the future, but in terms of suitability at the moment (well when I get my next dog) I think I have it down to two breeds.

Papillon
Tibetan Terrier

I have a short list, if I were to get another dog soon I'm pretty sure it would be one of the following (all dogs I could see myself living with, regardless of how different they all are):

Majestic Tree Hound (preferably tri-color - GIANT DAISY, anyone!?)
Shih-Tzu
Papillon
Leopard Cur (but he'd have to look like SLIPKNOT:

Kerry Blue
