I saw a girl walking a boston terrier and there was a group of ladies sitting there saying loudly that the girl was stupid for bringing a pit bull puppy to campus.

Sheesh. Luckily someone would have to be really really REALLY stupid to think my dogs are pit bulls.

As funny as this thread is (and since I've gone through a very similar event when I had my APBT Indy); here in Ontario; your dog could have been confiscated and held until a vet could prove he wasn't an APBT. Stupid effed up world we live in; stupid province I reside in.

And THIS my friends is one of the big problems with Breed Specific Legislation. John Q Public has NO IDEA what a pit bull actually looks like. And here, in Ontario, all it takes is on person complaining that your dog is a pit bull and you're not following the law (muzzling in public, never off leash, spay/neuter, etc) or worse, that it's too young to be legal, and BAM Animal Control is at your door seizing your dog. Worst of all, they don't have to prove your dog IS a pit bull, YOU have to prove it ISN'T. *sigh*

Not to mention all these alleged "pit bull" attacks. If people think a lab is a pit bull when they're not being threatened, I can't imagine them having better judgement miraculously when they ARE in a threatening situation. *eyeroll*

So about an hour ago a guy walking a pit bull down the street looks at Kiwi and asks "what kind of dog is that"?

WOW now even the pit bull owners don't know what they look like.

nice post! and ohhhhhh, so sadly true....
seems between my rotts and my "pits" i've been fighting this biased garbage for over 20 years now and i truly wonder when and IF an ending is in sight during my life time....
i guess it's this MISconception that keeps me going and fuels my fire for these breeds. it's a "mixed up, shook up world"....:(

....people......bangs head.....

Buster has been both a wolf (5 year old) and a dingo (grown man).

I didn't know dingos came in black with white spots.

To be fair, the BC/ACD/Husky whatevers do show a similar body plan. But really, hes black, not "feral yellow."

Okay, i can see the blocky head, but you can still tell your dog is a lab.

When Lacey was a puppy i had several people think she was a pitbull. I actually had a 6 year old kid, walk up to me, hesitated to pet her, asking me if she was a pitbull. When i said no he began to pet her. Another time i had another child petting her, and his mom actually came up and grabbed him. As they were walking away i overheard her saying "dont pet pitbulls, theyre dangerous".

I really do feel for them that they have such a bad rep. My sister has 13 of them and theyre all sweet loyal dogs. The dog they thought was a pitbull is a westie/lhaso apso/cockerspaniel/pug mix (altho she only really shows westie and pug). Heres a puppy picture of her

I agree that people are just plain dumb sometimes :(
