I know there are truely "emo" people out there, but for the most part right now, with the dress styles and music, it's a huge trend. It wasn't popular a couple years back, now it's all over the place, and clothing stores are using it a marketing gimmick lol... In a couple years, it will be replaced with something else that is considered "cool". >u.u<

First it was rocker

Then it was punk.

Then it was grunge.

Then it was mosher.

Now it's emo.

They're all one and the same.

Whatever floats your boat. I've never fit into a category I don't think. Just how I like it :D (does that mean I want to be in the "no category" category....)

I think my style is 'comfortable' LOL.

I use this theory- If I like it, I wear it, If I don't like it, I don't wear it. Works wonders. ;)

I think it is good to experiment and explore who you are, and fitting into a crowd is nice for teenagers. Doesn't matter which crowd it is (fashion wise) necessarily, as long as you don't just follow your peers regardless of whether you like it or not (it needs to feel right, and it may take a few image changes).

I've never ever been into fashion, but clothes DO change how you feel. Wear something you don't like, and you feel self concious, unhappy - it brings on an emotion!

Wear something you feel good in, and you feeeel good.

Wear something to make you stand out, hide away, blend in - it's all psychological (well, a lot is.... especially when you're young).

There are very very few people in this world who are genuinely unique in their looks and dress sense, and even less who don't truely care (I'd say 99% of us just SAY we don't, or THINK we don't, when really.. we do a little bit ;) )

I care a little bit, but not too much. And I know I look like 90% of college students... you know, that jeans and a t-shirt just rolled out of bed look? ;)

I'm not even sure how I look...

When I was a student, someone sang "I wannabe a hippy and I wanna get stoned... etc etc" to me when I walked by...

But, then, he wasn't far wrong :D

These days I suppose I am more of the floaty floaty camp, but still... I don't look like some hippy as you or I imagine a hippy. I guess I am pretty "normal". If there is such a thing as "normal".

My most recent clothing purchase was a hoodie, with a pixie hood and a big faery sitting on a mushroom on the back haha... But I am generally in jeans and a top of some desciption. Not usually a t-shirt.

Unless I am walking, then anything goes.

I was a High School teacher right in the midst of the transition from dress codes and I left teaching when "just about anything goes" was the code. I honestly and truly saw a breakdown in discipline with the demise of sensible dress codes in school, and that went for the teachers as well. The distractions were immense. Some teachers became slovenly and I know for a fact that when you dress your profession you perform your profession. Dizzy is right about what clothing does to your demeanor. It's dead on. You can laugh, but I was there and I know what I saw.

People have always gotten picked on or made to stand out because of something they wear.
Think back to shows like Saved by the Bell... Slater called Zack preppy because of the way he dressed... all kinds of movies and books did the same thing... you dress a certain way, you're lumped in with that group.
It's always been a part of our society to do that... that doesn't make it right but there it is.

You wanna keep being you, then keep being you and don't worry what other people say.
You wanna worry about what other people say then dress and act exactly like them, but then you're just going to get made fun of by a different group for another reason.

But getting upset about it really just enhances your emo steriotype.
Which is exactly why "The Breakfast Club" should be made a prerequisite for all that enter high school.

LOL somehow I think if we want that to work, we'd have to update the film fairly often... I just don't think people will take the 80's fassions seriously :p

I play guitar in a Hard Rock/Metal band here in SC. From time to time, we get stuck playing a show with a "Emo" or "Goth" band. These bands are the most difficult bands to play a show with. The whole "fad" really is a big joke.......It's all for attention. That's my opinion anyway, and I'm not aplogizing for my opinion.......

LOL. My fiancee and I sometimes play "Find the emo kid" when we're out- especially at the mall. They all look the same and have super skin tight jeans on.

My sister and I count the emos at the mall. Which is horrible, but at the same time highly entertaining.

It is a fun game :D lol.

I love seeing big groups of emo kids... especially when they are wearing shirts that say: "You're unique- just like everyone else."

So, emo=emotional.

Crap. I'm emo about 3 days out of the month. The right song can make me teary. Yesterday, I was reading some article about agility, and how this woman always thinks to herself how much she loves her dog before every run, because you never know when it will be the last one - I burst into tears.

My question is, since I'm only emo a couple days a month, can I get a clip-on for my facial piercing? Also, is a wig an acceptable substitute for dying my hair black? I'd look ridiculous with black hair.

I saw this quote a while back and I still laugh at it....

"I wish my hair was Emo so it would cut itself"
