Well no offense to goth, I mean it's the Thing now I guess. But to be honest, I have seen some very attractive kids who really just look plain scarey and ugly as Goth. It's really a waste of beauty in my opinion and hardly attractive. I would imagine it would be very hard to transition into the real world with that kind of...um..flair for style. I know it's a statement, I just can't figure out what the statement is, or whether it is a beneficial statement.

Emo annoys me. In general. It was the new prep in high school. My friend is 'emo' and never shuts up about it. My god, she's 'trying to be unique' and at the same time she looks like all the other 'unique people'.

Seriously, stop blabbing about your uniqueness and just move on. (not aimed at you, just in general)

And no, these things don't matter after highschool watsoever. No one in college really cares about labels for the most part. It's nice.

As for me... give me a t-shirt and some jeans.

Besides emo and goth are so expensive these days! Ever looked at the price tag in Hot Topic? sheesh

And I can't stand emo music either in general. If I have to hear Fall Out Boy one more time, I swear....*strangles something*

I think I was born in the wrong generation. Honestly.

Where has all the creativity gone!?

^Fall Out Boy is emo? LMAO. Wow, that's news to me.
Are they not? My friend who is emo, as I mentioned listens to them nonstop. I've always considered them emo. What are they then? Alternative?

I don't listen to modern music much.

Anyways, I think theirs was a case of over playing on the Radio. I must apologize for my dislike of Fall Out Boy. I actually have one of their songs on my ipod, but don't tell, mkay?

You know... I just had a thought, maybe my self proclaiming 'emo' friend really has no idea what emo is....

I still think it's cool to be unique, but I don't see the point about constantly trying to label yourself. It seems to go against the whole point, if you ask me. *shrugs*

I'm not bitter I just don't get it and it's not for me.

Fall Out Boy is definitely alternative. Heck, they play them on Star 94 (a really annoying pop station here). They're definitely not emo. I dislike them too (and also have a couple of their songs on my ipod haha).

I won't tell if you don't tell! ;)

Though I don't *really* count mine as it's from The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack and is a cover. It's actually decent and I like it.

I tend to listen to classic rock.

Anyways WAY off topic, sorry!

I am wondering why anyone would be against someone being unique. I have never got the idea of a dress code at school. I mean yeah, no tiny weenie skirts and that sort of thing, but to tell you you can wear a certain color? That is ridiculous.

Yeah, that is an emo song!

I guess my problem is unique isn't unique anymore- lol. It's become a fad. I must dress in X clothes and belong to X group. In high school every prep dressed the same and hung out together and all the goths dressed the same and hung out together. Honestly I didn't see much difference between the two groups- just people trying to fit in somewhere or make some sort of a statement. Don't get me wrong, I loved some of those people and generally hung out with more goths than preps, but I still don't see the point.

I am me and I will always be me, but me is not emo or some other group. I'm a bit more complex than that, I'd think.

College is so nice that way. I find generally speaking no one gives a **** how they're dressed when they go to class.

And speaking of dresscodes at school, they always annoyed me. My friend was a goth and liked to dress very... suggestively. She'd get busted all the time, but I knew a different girl that didn't dress goth but still dressed in clothes that showed as much and she'd never get in trouble. How's that fair?

LOL.....a few years back someone thought that my son was emo because his hair was so black....they though he dyed it that way. It was natural.:lol-sign: Just goes to show you that things aren't always as they seem.

I prefer dark clothes, I didn't like skinny jeans till I tried a pair on and OMG they were comfortable. So i wore them, I like dark eye makeup and dark hair. I SO get sick of people going 'YOUR EMO!!!" WTF?
I dress how I want regardless of what others are doing, just so happens how i like to dress has a label.
One teacher called me and my group of friends "wannabe goths" LOL

Also, i love that look people give you when they see you coming and start freaking out.

I got so sick of the rumours to, apparently we all slept together, had blood orgy's, shared STD's etc. My best friend and my boyfriend hated each other because I was sleeping with them both WTF? I'm still a virgin.
I had one of my close friends tell me she'd been talking to other people in the school and they talked about me like they knew the whole story, they got everything so wrong. I still get "so whats going on with you and your best friend?"
ahh nothing, we're best friends. Just coz he's a guy doesn't mean we're sleeping together.

ARGH!

Hey guys, I didn't read all of the pages but just had to say here, people may call me Emo, but if you ask me, I am just me. I wear the clothes I wear because they are cumfy! And I naturaly have dark hair (Not black, but a brown - which it is now) and in my last thread when I said I wanted snake bites it was because I think they are cool...

I do agree some emo kids take it over the top. they cut, and hate everything. Thats NOT me, I DONT cut, and I only hate MOST things. :p

So, before I read on I just wanted to tell you that Im not an emo, so you expressing your opinion (unless you say something like Emos aren't people. and emos are gay) Im okay with it... :)

I hate it when people bash emo's too. It's really annoying. I'm not really emo, I dress half way in between...

The whole labels thing really is annoying though. Jocks, preps, goths, emos, nerds, geeks... Did I miss any?
I agree, Im not emo... AT ALL! I wear jeans (Like any other girl), and a t-shirt, but ALWAYS have a sweater on over... AND that is why they thikn Im emo!

I agree about the labels thing too, its annoying, and I strongly dislike people labeling others, even though sometimes I call some people "preps"...

Anyway, off to a label filled HS.
