Just months before my sister got married she and her soon-to-be husband set me up with his best friend Craig. Craig was going to be the best man in their wedding and I was going to be the maid of honor. They were bugging me and bugging me to meet him because at the time I had a boyfriend that they COULD NOT STAND (that is a whole other story :D ) and they were willing to do anything to get me away from my boyfriend. I finally on my own terms decided to dump the boyfriend and a month later I met Craig. Needless to say, the rest is history. This July will be 6 years 2 of those years have been spent married :)

That's a good question too. I doubt just randomly asking people on the street is a very good way of getting an accurate percentage.

This is kinda embarassing . . . I met my husband of 22 years because he was best friend's boyfriend. But, its not as evil as it sounds. They only dated for a couple of months, they broke up and were still friends when he started asking me out, I asked my friend how she felt about it and she said go for it. We are still best friends. :)

In 1950 I went to an all girl's College near Boston, my brother was at Dartmouth (NH) and he and 2 frat bros. came down for blind dates. My date was a dork and I guess Tom thought his was too, as he called me for a date the next weekend. We were married in July 1952.

I met Daniel through a friend of ours,Norman. I went over to Norm's that night and then spent the whole night talking my head off trying to get Daniel- to notice me. He spent the whole time trying to ignore me because he was planning to leave state. I ended up spending the next three weeks
convincing (sp?) him not to leave. I guess I did. We were togetherfor six months before we got married on 12/14/02. A few family members said that we wouldn't last six months. That was 2 years, 6months, and one son ago. The day we were married,I thought Daniel was the luckest thing that had happened to us. I still do. :)

Me and my husband were the same way, married quick. We were got married a little after we had been dating for a year. Our families didn't say we wouldn't last because they could just see how much we loved each other and enjoy being with each other. Well there was my husband brother who didn't even show up at our wedding because he didn't approve of our age difference, but me and him have since worked things out (sorta) and can now be in the same room with each other without getting in an arguement.

Me and hubby started dating in feb. and got married in sept...And alot of my family members were negative about the whole situation...i was to young...we didnt date long enough and ect...But WE knew it was meant to be...And i love knowing the fact that every morning when we wake up we are an example of a young couple who have stuck together through diffulcult times and we love each other and that if love is meant to be-its going to be- no matter what.....

exactly! That is exactly the way that I feel. It didn't matter what everyone else thought, if mattered what we thought and we knew.

I was 16 when I met James, he was 21. We dated for one year before we got engaged, then married 6 months later. Hardly anyone came to the wedding b/c they didn't think it would last. (Not to mention the wonderings if i was pregnant, even James' mom asked him if I was. Which I really resented, you don't have to be pregnant to get married young  ) Kinda Kookyee and Juliefurry i agree with you completely! When you know, you just know! We've been married for 8 years in a couple of weeks. :D

yeah I hated everybody just assuming that I was pregnant and that was why were getting married so soon. Oh well, atleast me and my hubbie had a nice time at the wedding regardless of what everyone else was thinking.

I was going to hairdressing school in the city and was friends with a girl from a nearby small town. We went out there to party for a weekend and I met hubby...Instant chemistry, but....friend told me future hubby "got around" so I didn't return his phone calls. Six months later , friend is dating future hubby's friend, tells me she was wrong about him and that he was still interested, so...made a trip back to small town, did some serious flirting/convincing, 8 mths later we decided to get married!

I guess a lot more people than I thought were set up by friends and family. Hmm... Maybe the 70% is almost accurate.
