I don't know what to do about this dog. I keep finding her running to our house!

Today she literally was sitting at our front door and when I opened it I saw her laying in my way.

She's a really sweet chocolate lab! Very energetic and excitable, she's probably the exact kind of dog I would love to own. I got a ball for her that Lucas doesn't like and she ran to get it and wanted to play. She loves the balls.

There is a phone number on her collar, I know her owner will come pick her up if I call, but this is the third time I've personally found her. She always seems to want to come to my house for some reason.

I've also seen her get out and caught by some one else 3 other times. So that's a total of 6 times I've seen her out, and there's more than likely been many other times.

The owner I'm not sure I personally like all that much. I don't know if I should call her at this point. She's said she leaves the dog out on a chain all day, not allowed inside. I told her she needs to find a better way to keep her confined, and if she doesn't something could happen to the dog. She didn't seem to care all that much and the dog still get's out just as often.

She also talked to the dog when she came to get her and said something about "Oh fine, be happy now, but when we get home you're really gonna get it!" That didn't seem to good to me, then put the prong collar on the dog and pulled her away. Literally.

I gave the dog water, she drank 2 bowls and seemed really hot. She's not very dirty and seems young (probably a year old). Then I played ball with her for a little while and now she's in the back yard for the time-being.

So.....what would you guys do? I'm a bit torn. I'm worried if I return the dog she's just going to get tied up then loose again.

haha! But they live right down the street, if I did keep her, minute I took her out for a walk or anything they would most likely see eventually. :(

If I did rehome her, could I get in trouble if the owners found out I had her and gave her away though?

Every time I call they know where to go now.

LOL Nolu! :p

Ummmm, not if her "new" owners don't say anything and no witnesses see her in your back yard.

Or you could just offer to buy her or something.

I wonder if that would work! They don't really seem all that attached to her and from what I know they leave her chained all day.

I think I'm gonna call and see! If anything maybe I could offer a dog-walking service if they say no? If they say no again I'll just have to loose the collar next time she gets out. Cause I just know there will be a next time unfortunately. :(

I don't really want to steal her if there's any other way to do it.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Or you could lose the collar and turn her in to the shelter.. see how proactive they are about finding her. Then maybe adopt her. ;)

Now that sounds like a plan! I could turn her in on Monday > BA on Thursday > Adopt on Friday > Come here after spay! She's not spayed. I could even put a deposit on her before her BA on Thursday.

She'd just have to make sure to pass the BA! I think I may give her a small test here real quick. ;) Just to make sure! Don't worry, I'm not sticking hands near food!!! lol Just want to check real quick before I'd go and turn anyone over to the shelter.

Wow she's loud! She barks a lot when she's excited!! LOL I'm gonna go play ball with her some more. She hasn't met Lucas, so I don't know how they get along and I don't now about vaccines so I might wait for a meeting.

You are awesome. I don't know why people get dogs just to tie them out in their yards. My daughters dad does that with Squirt, and it just breaks my heart.
