I lOVE YOU! finally someone that likes XII and hates X. I don't understand the love for X to be honest. Though I have to say I enjoy X much more than XIII. At least in X I can vehemently hate the characters instead of feel completely apathetic towards them. :lol-sign:

What was the point of Vaan and Penelo in XII? Just to have a typical girly looking man as the 'main character'? I heard Basch was supposed to be the main char but he was 'too old'. It would have made much more sense plot-wise....

I only have a PS2. I know I can play some of them on my system, because I added a few to my Wish List on Amazon a long time ago to remind me. Can I play all of them on the PS2?

Well the PS1 ones can play on a PS2 but you'll need a PS1 memory card to play it through your PS2. My vote is to start with VII since that's pretty much 'the' FF game everyone knows.

On another note, I'm so stuck on Diablos in VIII. I should have fought him much much earlier but I was dumb and didn't realize he levels up as you do so now it's a lot harder lol.

They were one of the the big reasons why I stopped playing. I really, really could not get into Vaan and Penelo. Vaan was too Aladin'esque for me. I'll have to give it another chance since you guys really like it.

Whoot finally got diablos once I figured out you could draw Demi from him and use it against him. I'm so not good with the whole draw/junction system.

Jessie, definitely give XII a few more hours at least. Those two aren't the main characters at all. They're kind of just there for no apparent reason.

Question about VIII... Do you need to keep everyone leveled the same level? Right now Squall is 22, Rinoa and Zell are 18 and then Irvine and Quistis are 13 and Selphie is 11... I'm feeling like I should be leveling it out but in VII I pretty much just used Vincent, Cloud, and Cid all the way through. And I can't take Squall out of the party so he'll be over-leveled anyways (he has 2000 more HP than the others already!) So... will it kill me to not use all the people equally?

Diablos is tough. If you use demi, it takes a good bit of his HP, though. I found it really hard to keep my party's HP up since he does so much damage at once. He's worth beating, though.

Yeah just got him once I figured that out. Also, he seemed to have glitched or something because while he'd use demi on me, he'd also then use curaga on me so my HP was up the whole fight. Weird.

I'd level up everyone, Laur. If I remember right, you are forced to use certain characters in certain parts of the game, and everyone frequently splits off into two parties (and it always so happens that you stupid characters are in one, and your awesome amazing characters are in the other). But, I hardly ever, ever, ever used Selphie and it didn't kill me, so...do what you want. LOL I kept Squall, the teacher chick (Quistas?), Zell, and Irving all about the same level. I tried to keep Rinoa up, but it was hard. And I ignored Selphie. lol

I'm happy too!! You have no idea how many people just abhor XII, and I'm like, "But, but, but, but..."
And you are really making me not want to buy XIII. Curse you, I need it for my collection!

And I don't know what the point of Vaan and Penelo was. It amused me that when things started getting down and dirty, they only would maybe say one sentence every third cutscene, and what they said didn't matter at all. LOL I wish Balthier had just booted them on home. But, I did like Vaan as a fighting character so he was useful there.

I had to pry myself from the PS3 tonight. I'm in Kalm now and saved in between the story of Cloud's past. I <3 Red XIII. I'm so happy I have him again. I remember Laur posted a picture she drew of him and it was awesome.

Ian was sitting there on the couch and was like "Barret is very... animated." LOL.

I'm going to keep XII and try it again after I play XIII. I can't not try XIII. It's way too pretty to not at least attempt to like it.

I love Cloud. I really really want to replay VII. All my favorite characters (except Balthier and Basch) are in VII. I love Reno and Rude, Tseng, Rufus, Cloud, Vincent... I want to play that one now. I like VIII so far too, though.

I <3 all of the characters you named. Cloud is probably my favorite out of all the FF games. VII is definitely my favorite. I'm so hooked again now that I restarted it.

VIII is a really good one, though... hmmm... now I'm trying to figure out what I want to play next. I do agree that XII is really pretty.

They really, really, really need to make a remake of VII with updated graphics. Imagine The Don scene remade :rofl1: :rofl1:

The junction system is your best friend in this game. I'm playing it now, and I'm right before the mission in Timber. I've already got my characters' HP up to around 4000 or so.

It doesn't really make a difference. The monsters level up as you do, so you have people that go through the entire game and run away from every fight, just so it stays easy. I like to go the other route, and not really grind my characters up, but my GFs abilities instead. Check your junctions. Who all has HP-J? I'm guessing just Squall if the difference in hit points is that drastic. That, or he has really good magic backing it. You want to spread out your GFs equally so that your team has a good stat base.

Another thing you want to do is have Quetzalcotl learn the Card ability, then learn Card Mod. Card by itself isn't that useful, but with Card Mod, the game is a breeze. In fact, this is the reason Triple Triad is so important. When you beat Ifrit, Diabolos, etc. you get their cards. With Card Mod, you can turn the cards into items, and the rarer the card, the better the payout. If you can win a Mezmerize card, you can mod it, and with a few screws, you can walk into a weapon's shop and get a new gunblade for Squall. Doing this, I've got his second best weapon in the game without even leaving the island yet.

(Also, win Tonberry cards whenever you can. They mod out to 30 Deaths using Diabolos' Life-Mag Refine. Put 100 Deaths into your Status Junction. Nothing shall survive.)

I'm on disk 2 at the very beginning (with just Laguna) right now.

Also how the heck is his HP up to 4000?! lol

I have all the GFs possible so far- brothers, daiblos, queztocotl, shiva, ifrit, and siren. I don't see any others that can learn HP-J? am I missing something?
