No power so ccheckingin on my phone...siding blew off the house and a number of friends have trees in their living rooms. Most businesses flooded. Downtown manhattan is under 13.8 feet of water, flooded past zone a. Just now a con ed plant exploded, praying no one died. Sister's friend killed by a tree this afternoon. Lucky the death toll is only around 6 or 7, not counting the blast just now.

Oh man, I'm so sorry. Give your sister a hug from me. :( I saw a video of the con ed explosion, it looked really, really, awful. You're all in our prayers. Stay safe.

So sorry to hear about your sister's friend! :-(

Siren just woke me up, pacing on my my bed, lie down pressed against me, then up pacing again...

Finally have her settled by putting her under the covers pressed against me!!!

Now I can't sleep...

A hole in the bottom of the sea.
I live in northwest Indiana and the wind is insane here. We lost power for a little while last night. DH and I went to the beach to check out the waves in Lake Michigan and they are pretty high and are supposed to be higher today. Not that it is anywhere near what it is like on the East coast, just amazed that the storm is so huge we feel the effects this far west.

The pictures out of NYC are horrible.

I lost power for awhile last night, but it's back on this morning. Fence is still up!

Somehow, miraculously, we didn't lose a single tree (despite having a dozen 60 foot trees in the yard!) We slept in the basement last night, just in case, because I was convinced from the way they were describing the storm that we were going to lose at least one or two of them.

Things are soggy, but only outside, not inside. It's still raining, but the winds seem to have died down. So long as they don't pick back up again, looks like we're in the clear.

Sorry to hear about your sister's friend, Milo. Sounds like NY got the worst of it :( Hope your family is hanging in there.

No power here, since about 10 last night. It's a little chilly, but not bad yet. There's a tree down at the end of the road so the roads closed (although, I just went around the road closed signs  ). He river has flooded its up 14.5 feet from what i heard, some roads closed. Work was still open, but we were low so I took off. Helping my older friend keep her generator running. Lots of wind damage here, but not complaining, just praying for those who are so much worse off

We faired well at our house. Didn't lose power and no branches or trees down in our yard. Lots of people around here lost power though and LOTS of flooding and downed trees so we really lucked out. I think we are on the same power grid as the water plant down the road so they probably make our grid a priority if power goes out

We did better than I expected. Took the chains to work thinking I'd have to move a tree because either way I go home is tree lined and no way around. Joke was on me two houses from home tree blocking road in the power lines. Put it in four wheel drive and called the sheriff.

Power stayed on till this morning and then the basement filled fast. Just got the generator going.

Yards a mess. Dogs didn't want to go out this am except for blitz who wanted to play like it was any other day.

Going to go to watch to waves tonight if we don't hav to sit and watch the generator.

It was weird a work last night- the toilets had waves. Not sure if it was cuz we were on fifth floor in an old building?

Hope the worst is over for everyone!

I lost power for about 17 hours, it was pretty warm outside so it wasn't too bad. Had to work today and yesterday. Home now, no damage, I think Mass lucked out.

We're about the only ones in my area with power. No cable/internet/phone, though. I'm checking in on a cellular card in my laptop. As usual, the iPhone is useless without wifi.

Well here in South GA we are getting a LOT of the back wind from Sandy. It has been freezing cold, non stop wind here for almost 3 days. I HATE wind. It does terrible things, not just to trees, houses, cars, etc but also to my hair! My poor hair lol

Anyways, that I am aware of, nothing serious has happened here. Just everyone is freezing due to this wind.

Well my power JUST NOW came back on! It's been off since about 3am this morning. We have pretty strong winds and a bit of rain out there.......I'm thinking the wind knocked a pole down or knocked a tree into power lines.

Hope that's the end of it and the power stays on! Be safe you guys!

All the schools around here closed preemptively. It was sunny this morning, drizzling a bit now but I think this is the extent I will see of the hurricane.

Milo...I'm so terribly sorry about your sister's friend. What a sad thing. And for all who are struggling over there, my thoughts are with you and them. What a terrible storm. Now for the re-building. I hope those of you who lost power get it restored soon, especially if it's cold.
