The best thing to do with trampolines is turn them upside down and strap them to a sturdy tree and/or stake them deep into the ground.

Just watched the news... Holy ****.

Other than wind, we're in the clear til Thursday. Then the world ends. Though it was bad about 30 mins east of here an hour ago...

News shows the worst hitting my area at around 2 AM. Still windy like crazy and a lot of rain. Some local business have closed. We're still hanging in.

Winds just got considerably worse here, sky is getting dark and rain is still coming down. I think she is almost officially here in the NOVA area. Dogs are actually really freaked out so I gave them happy traveler and waiting for that to kick in.

It's pitch black outside now. I can hear the wind roaring but can't see a thing anymore. Power is officially out so I will check back in when I can. Have to conserve battery on my phone.

Just wanting to give some advice from the standpoint of someone who worked at a cell phone call center during Katrina.

I know saving cell battery seems important but as it goes on with no power more and more people are going to try and use their phones before the phones die. Cell towers can only hold so many people at a time and if you wait until them the chances you will make it through is super small.

Also as it gets worse more people will try to reach loved ones and that takes slots too. Basically what I'm saying is if you have service use it while you can. Get info about where you go if you need to leave and make a plan now. Email that plan to everyone you can right now.

If your cell dies, the slots get taken, or the tower goes down *which is the most likely scenario* your phone is going to be worthless.

Trust me so many people waited so long to get a plan they weren't able to tell any one and that caused a lot of families to not know the status of each other for months.

Well the local news is reporting that the storm has shifted enough that the rain is pretty much over (the heavy stuff anyway). Just heavy winds for much of the rest of the evening now. Lights are flickering still.

I hope the rest of you who are still in the path of the bad stuff stay safe!

Glad y'all are all hanging in there. It's weird not to have to worry about hurricanes here at all.

We all went stir crazy during Ike (the last hurricane I had to ride out). It seemed to just keep on going.

Really windy but the hydro has not so much as flickered!!! Hope everyone else is fairing well... Mindy, Foster and Di are unconcerned but Siren is restless.. And not impressed with the cold and wind, she pee'd in the house for the first time in months!!

Power just came back on here. Hopefully it will stay back on. It got a little rough here, but nothing in comparison to what they have been seeing along the coast. Still raining and still really windy outside, but I think the worst is over.
