Right now it's just windy and a bunch of rain. Nothing we haven't seen. The worst isn't supposed to come until later, though.

Stay safe everyone! I'm in Southern Ontario and we are under a wind warning for tonight. It's been wet all week with more rain expected so we could very well lose power too as we have a lot of huge old trees in our city. We are prepared, though I know it won't be nearly as bad here as it is down in the states!

It's supposed to get a bit nasty up this way as well. I figured I'd use up some of our fridge stuff today, just in case we lose power and the stuff goes bad. I used up the rest of the eggs and baked a chocolate cake. I know, I know, kind of useless as survival food. No worries, my family will never know of my silliness because they're not home and I ate the evidence.

Seriously though, with the Emerald Ash Borer doing so much damage the past year, it's not going to be pretty when the winds pick up. The city just recently cut down all the dead/dying ash trees on city property, but there are still a LOT on private property. I'm hoping my neighbours tree stays the heck off of my house.

It IS always such a good idea to be prepared though. We have all our camping gear and supplies stored in the rec room. Has a nice wood-burning stove down there. We still need to get a back-up electrical thingy so we can run the fireplace insert fan, that way the whole house gets heated. But it'll do for now. We keep all our stuff in labelled bins, including spare camping food (dehydrated meals) and food/water for the dogs.

Oh good Sparks.

Kady...good to hear. Kayaks! Good heavens!

Well, brace yourselves. It's pretty dang windy here sometimes...right now, 27 mph is the latest I've read. I remember a Thanksgiving where we had some very high winds. Power went off, turkey not cooked. LOL. I think a Coleman stove finished the turkey. Of course, they're not classified as a hurricane since it's not tropical, but we've had some dandy windstorms...usually right around this time of year.
I'm hearing gusts up to 90 down on the water and in Manhattan, but I'm skeptical. Sustained winds are only at about 45 right now, though, and expected to get much faster tonight...

I hope our neighbors trampoline doesn't blow away. They didn't take it down and from what I can see it's not tied down either. Well... at least the wind is blowing away from our house so it won't end up through our windows but YIKES

I'm keeping my eye on the traffic cones a contractor put around the trailer he parked out in the street across and one house over from us. I have no clue why he didn't just take the trailer with him when he was picking up stuff that could fly around on Saturday.

LOL Jen!

Can you guys with trampolines or neighbors with trampolines run out there and see about tying them down....maybe a few pieces of rebar you might happen to have? You could pound those in the ground with rope or strong wire. Or can they be taken apart and slid under a porch or something? They look quite dangerous if they're air born. Ackkk! That's some picture there!

I've seen pictures of Ocean City and the inlet bridge underwater, and it's not even that bad yet. The flooding is going to be crazy.

Downtown here is totally flooded, up to mid-door on the stores along main street. The worst hasn't NEARLY started yet.

yes they can be tied down and they should be but as far as I can tell our neighbors haven't bothered to do so

Getting windier here. The venter of the storm isn't too terribly far away so the wind is going to really start picking up soon
