We never leave our dogs no matter where we go. If we spend some time in Florida to get away from the cold we bring them along, they need a break too. I could never enjoy myself if my dogs were left behind. Our relatives are spread around and some are quite far away , we bring the dogs when we visit...they're welcomed everywhere.

We take a good bit of vacations, both with and without the dogs.

For short trips, we have a pet sitter who lives nearby. She's licensed and bonded and her only flaw is giving too many treats to the dogs. If we're leaving for a weekend or a short period of time, she comes to the house a few times a day.

For long trips, we've been having Jess Lough watch the dogs. It works out well for both of us, since she gets to come to Florida and we get a great pet sitter to spend lots of time with the dogs!

We also go on trips with the dogs. Every December we drive up north and rent a cabin and take the dogs with us for the week.

Yep, definitely take vacations away from the dogs. I get a pet sitter but he's going off to college this next year so not sure what I'll do then.

I found that if I stay away too long I miss B too much!

Bailey is hard to leave with someone else because of his SA. I have someone awesome to watch him, who he adores, so hopefully we'll be able to keep her around for a while.

It'll be a while before I leave them both, though. Grace is still a baby and they're still figuring things out -- and it's a lot to ask a third party to manage!

My 'vacations' are weekend trips for rescue transport. Argon and Chesh stay with my mother, since they are rather easy creatures. She's not comfortable watching Gambit, so he gets to come with me from NC to CT. Not an ideal situation, but he really seems to enjoy it.

I boarded Gambit one time last year, for four days. He was at the daycare I work at, and I was very comfortable with the entire staff (not like now :( ). I was a nervous wreck and, yes, I called my coworker every day to check on him. He seemed to come out just fine, but I don't know that I could do it again.
