Usually no but once in a while we do. This weekend we'll visit my sister where dogs are not allowed and they'll stay home with a Petsitter. Also on memorial day weekend we'll visit some college friends on the beach and probably party a lot, it won't be much fun for the dogs so again, Petsitter. This is new for me, going without a dog, but I'm surviving. I much prefer taking a dog with me though.

I go somewhere probably twice a year. I would like longer vacations because sometimes I have the luxury of leaving for up to 4 months, however, because of Nia, I never leave for more than 2 weeks.

I usually leave her with my mom, or family friends. She doesn't do well when we change her home so I'm hesitant to board her or leave her in a dog walker's house. It's a huge inconvenience actually, otherwise we would definitely take more vacations.

A little of both. Mostly sans-Lucy. A few times we've gone to a beach where there's a cute hotel that allows dogs, but most places I want to go aren't dog-friendly (nor would I want to be responsible for her there). Dogs don't go on cruise ships, or into the Colosseum or the pyramids and such!

I wish wish wish there were a way to take her home to see my family in California, but I refuse to a) drive 3000 miles across the country, or b) board her on a plane (she's too big to go under the seat).

When she doesn't get to go, she usually went to stay at Zach's parents, but now that they've moved out of state her regular babysitter will be our agility instructor.

I rarely go anywhere that isn't an agility trial, so it doesn't come up often. The two times I've left Meg were for a 4 day trip to Florida (the rest of the family went for 8 days, but I refused to be away from her that long). She stayed with my friend that found her for me, and runs an in-home boarding. The other time was a one-night trip to New York with some friends, and Meg just stayed home with my mother.

I don't think I'd board Meg out at this point; if my parents were gone as well, I'd get a house sitter in for her. There are very few people I would inflict Gusto upon ;) so he'd probably stay with the friend who fostered him before I got him or my agility trainer.

Now I'm trying to decide if I should ask her if she's available again this summer for Dance or if we should bring her along to BC.

One day I would like to take a dog vacation though. Like a road trip or something with my dog/s and probably another person so I don't get lonely. I think it'd be fun to travel and do and see different things with my dog, and just imagine all the photo opportunities!
I wanna dogsit Danceeey!!! Please?! Fozz has always had a crush on her. :3

I also must take a dog vacay witchu. That's my dream. Just going to different dog events, meeting up with other dog people on the way, taking the dogs hiking and to various awesome outdoor places.

I've taken Fozzie on vacation. He's SO easy, good with every person/animal, and just lays there in the car for hours. I forget he's even there. I took him to Disneyland, and he got to stay at the Disneyland dog daycare with my friend's dog during the day & loved it. It would be too stressful on Gonzo & myself to take him on a vacay.

If I leave the dogs, they either stay with my Dad, my Mom, or one of my sisters. They all love my dogs so I get to pick. I generally leave them with my Dad because he has acres of plush grass and a pool, it's a vacation for the dogs. And my little brother plays with them non-stop. ^_^ I did go to SF for 2 days and left Fozzie at the pet hotel when I worked there... he clearly missed me VERY much, even though he went to the hotel with me daily for daycare, he had never been there without me. He does love my co-workers & I trust that they spoiled him, but the pet hotel is a last resort. He doesn't like sleeping alone.

I do go away a few times a year for little trips and one-nighters, etc. Jackson has pretty much always stayed with my dad (and his wife, my brother, and their two dogs). I don't trust my mom at all (which is where we live) so I won't leave him there. They're just not dog people per say... lol. I also won't board him. Otherwise, he comes with me whenever he can. I enjoy bringing him to Gettysburg with us every 4th of July, and we visit the Shenendoah River, etc. He LOVES being with us and does great with the crowds and the hotels, etc.

If my sister and I go away, my Mum comes to our house to look after them. And they are ALL fatter by the time we get back.

If I am going myself, then my sister will look after them.

Depending on where I go, I take Saga with me. If I go up to Duluth, I would get beat by my dads if I DIDN'T bring her. If I go someplace that isn't dog friendly, she stays at Ryan's and has stayed at a friend's dog daycare on the one weekend Ryan and I were both going to be out of town. (We actually were going to the exact same place, for the same reason. lol.) She also just stayed there when my building got fumigated.

All my vacations are dog shows, so the dogs always come with. =P
^this. In the 7 years I can count on 1 hand how many times hes not went with me. Even if I go to my moms over night, he usually gets loaded up to come with. I admit it I have separation issues.

Yeah, most of my vacations are dog-related, too :p

Though I sometimes don't bring them all (if I'm staying with someone that also has dogs - especially larger, male dogs - I don't bring Pen because he's selective with his doggy friends), and they have been fine staying here with my in-laws. Once we move (hopefully by the end of the month!!!!!), I will hire my boss (I work for a pet sitter/dog walker on the side) to watch them, or maybe even just load whoever is left behind and just bring them to my in-laws. Depends.

When we were in TX, we came home once every other month for a weekend or so, and they would go in to boarding (I only had Kimma and Pen at the time). I LOVED where we used to take them (I also had worked there so I knew exactly what went on and trusted them completely), but haven't tried any places around here. I may try to find somewhere that has a daycare for when we go to Disney in October, as Kimma would not cope well being apart from me for that long (she has mild SA), and she will also not be able to be exercised enough by just the petsitter. So a boarding/daycare situation would be best for her. The other two are just fine doing whatever LOL.

Mine are all AWESOME in the car, so when I can take them with, I certainly do. They are also all pretty good in hotels and all of that, which definitely helps :p

My ferret Nika went in to boarding in TX a couple of times, too, during long trips (when we drove back home to PA for the Holidays), but when it was a shorter trip/long weekend, a neighbor of mine (she actually worked at the boarding place I worked at) came over once a day to play with her and change her food/water. She's so easy that anyone would be able to take care of her here, so I'm not worried.

No way! That's my privilege and Duke needs his toller back:

I don't really make an effort to take dogs on vacations. If I go out of town, he stays.

butttt... I even do pet sitting and I am a pretty big freak about leaving my dog some where. I don't like leaving him because I feel he might be awful, even though he's a really good dog at home. Lucky for me the longest I've had to leave him is 4 days, where he stayed with my friend Dean. Preferably, if I have to leave him any time, I ask Dean. Duke is pretty much half his (he has him for 8hrs a day every day of the week) and he gets to hang out with Boomer. If not, he goes to my grandmas. Then if not, he'll go to my dentists' house and hang out with McGruff.

I don't plan trips where I can't take Bandit unless Tyler is staying behind with him. It's not worth it to me because right now I am pregnant and have a toddler. I'm not going anywhere that isn't visiting family and the dog can just come. We both prefer it that way.

We can't afford many vacations. The last one I went on was 4-5 years ago. Blue stayed behind with my Mum while we went out East. Besides that, the only vacations we take are camping trips and the dog usually come with us. ;)

Yes we go on vacation. With both sets of grandparents living far away we travel quite a few times a year. We have a young lady that comes in and stays at our house with the dogs whenever we go away.

We go on vacation with our dog. We like to camp and hike and go visit my partner's parents in Vermont, so Dahlia is welcome along for all.

This year we've booked a 3-day trip to here: http://highlandvue.com/ccg_intro.html It'll be our first totally dog-centric vacation! I can't wait.

Usually when we all go away, we get my friend to stay at the house to look after the animals. We don't really like to board them if we don't have to, and it works out best for all of us. However, it is pretty rare that we all go away together (my mum, brother and myself). Usually at least one person is at home at all times.

Sadly, we don't ever really go on vacation. LOL When we do, we have someone (friend or neighbor) stop by the house to watch the animals. We have too much of a zoo to be able to board them easily, and way too many critters to afford a "real" pet sitter.

It's not much of a vacation for me if I don't have my dogs. Plus the only time I ever really leave town is because of the dogs lol. If I have to fly somewhere I will take Logan and leave Gavroche, but I still take at least one.

I've been on 2holidays with Coco and 3holidays without her in the year I've had her.
I love taking holidays with her, aslong as it's all pet friendly, holidays without her are great too as it's nice to have a break but finding someone to watch her is tricky as I only really trust my family.
My dream is to get a car and her pet passport and go through Europe,I just now she would love sunbathing ( under an umbrella) traveling with her is so fun,and she was so well behaved on her Ireland trip I think it's a great bonding experience and really fulfilling for both of us!

She stays with family or friends if we go away. She does NOT have a boarding disposition, she'd hate it, and be very sad and depressed. Everyone loves her though, so we have no trouble finding dog sitters. Not sure how that will work with 2 dogs...
