Pee pads are awesome for emergencies. I leave one down and if I have to work late or get stuck in a meeting, I don't have to worry the whole time. When there's 30 inches of snow that fell overnight, I don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn shoveling paths and offshoots of paths (Since we won't potty on a main path:rofl1:)

Pee pads are sounding pretty awesome right about now. Megatron has basically destroyed my basement with her recent lapse of housetraining that I didn't catch until it was thoroughly too late. $%^$. I am not a small dog person.
I swear Mia pees every 2-3 hours. 2 times before work, 2 times from work to lunch, 1 time at lunch when i let them out, 2 times in the afternoon, then 2-3 times before bed. I can kinda understand as I can't hold it very long either. lol

Pee pads I just put them down and pull them up at the end of the day. No mess at all.

Amen to too many Bellas, Lucy's, and Gracie's. You can name your dog whatever you want, but do not be surprised when you call me for Bella and it takes 10 minutes to figure out which one is going home. She's a lab? Great, I have five of those. A yellow lab? Down to three. Overweight? Still 3. Oh, that Bella! It's like mutant Guess Who.

On the flip side, do not be offended if we have to ask you how to pronounce your dogs name. Gexxxor. Prounounced Jick-ser. I understand that you picked a gamer/Game of the Thrones/Harry Potter name, but we haven't all seen/read/played those thing. You picked it, you ought to expect that you'll be saying/spelling it for the rest of your dogs life.

And please don't give your dog a masculine name, put it in a blue collar, and then get offended when I refer to it as 'he'.

I'm having a rough name week at daycare.

On the topic of names STOP NAMING YOUR PET KHALEESI. It was cool the first time (so in my mind, the name will only ever be acceptable for my friend's spitfire GSD girl), but after that it became so overdone. I will throttle the next person to name their dog Khaleesi.

Also Julee you are excellent people.

What is negative punishment? Do you mean positive punishment? To be fair, I know some good trainers who avoid the word no, but not because the word is bad, but because it doesnt really tell the dog anything. I think a lot of people dont get why the word no is not always used (That being said, yeah, I use no a lot lol)
There is positive and negative punishment.

Negative punishment is taking something away that is rewarding, to create punishment- typically access to things the dog wants?

Positive punishment is adding something to the dog that is a punishment. Could be an ecollar stim, could be a loud clap or "no".

This.

I don't know how they can hold it all night, I can't even hold it all night ... but they do. Maybe they have some mechanism that allows them to slow down their need to pee at night or something.

The insane rescuers/rescues, I shouldn't need to pass a rigorous background check to get a dog! Its a dog, not a CIA security clearance! I'm OK with landlord check, home visit, and vet check, but the 9 million personal references is insane.

Kibble/raw will kill your dog! If your dog is doing fine on whatever your feeding him/her, stick with it.

The crazily high price of dog toys. Why the hell am I supposed to pay $20+ for a piece of rope with plastic on it!?

Outside only dogs. Not counting some LGDs or sled dogs, most dogs want to be with you! That is why they are called COMPANION animals.

The "Pit Bulls are natural killers!" myth.

Purse dogs.

Insane prices at the vets.

Apparently it's controversial to expect male dogs to learn to control themselves around females in heat. *sigh* Train, don't complain, people.

Duh, had a total brain fart this morning lol. I actually do know that but for some reason read it as they meant positive punishment instead (I view negative punishment as kind of a given being used by positive trainers) so the way it was worded tripped me up. I have had my caffeine and a hike now, my brain is slowly catching up

My complaint is the opposite --- people who ONLY talk about their dog and contribute to nothing else.
Is that directed at me because I didn't want to discuss how I felt about pooping?

I definitely find it weird when there are members here and I have no idea what they have for dogs. It's a dog forum; I mostly come here for dog stuff.

How did you guess!!

Seriously though, I don't think it was at you :D I think it was meant more in the vain of Don't comment on OTHER people's dog stuff, just their own if I had to guess.

I tend to post in the dog sections more than anything else too though I do venture other places sometimes.

Mention you're thinking about possibly breeding your titled dog if he passes his health testing and then having the "ADOPT DON'T SHOP" shoved down your throat! I'm sorry I'd like a possible son off my dog that I've spent money, blood, sweat and tears into and he's good at the sport he competes in.

Also I mention I'm thinking of doing home cooking for the dogs and have the no it NEEDS to be raw, after stating me and the OH are not comfortable with raw and home cooking makes the most sense to us.

Fat pets
Long nails!

I'm a horrible person because I walk my dog on a prong even though I explain he pulls like a freight train and I have a bad shoulder that I don't want to have surgery on.

Also Pit Bull people, they're the reason I don't have one and am no longer interested in owning the breed.

People who post on a dog forum that never talk about their dogs.
Meeeee! ;) Seriously though. I joined a dog forum because I was/am crazy about dogs but couldn't have one yet. But SOON. Like January 2015 SOON. :D

I really dislike rescues that have incredibly long applications, references (like people can't find a friend to lie, lol), do random home checks after the dog is home. Like stop. Or that have the same dog advertised for YEARS and you apply for it and you get turned down. Why don't you just admit that the foster family loves it? Lol.

The whole dominance training thing. I'm sorry, the dog is not a wolf. Maybe it has some similarities, but after a couple hundred (or thousands) of years breeding specific dogs for specific temperments, I would think that they would be different enough that we could stop with the whole dominance thing.
