I can say for a fact that German Shepherds attract guys, and a lot of them, too! I get a lot of guys coming over to talk to me when I have Trent with me, but guys in general tend to fall in one of two camps 1) they like Trent and come over to talk to me about him or 2) they are scared to death of him.
Really? With Anko and Tengu guys would cross the street to avoid us. I loved walking them because men totally left me alone when I had them along.

A lot of people are interested in the borzois, but it doesn't seem to be any group in particular. The dogs just look weird and people want to know what they are. I will say that I've never ever had my butt pinched when Strider was with me though. Dudes don't always keep their hands to themselves otherwise. :(

It's not just limited to guys, I get a LOT of people crossing the street to avoid us when I am out with Trent (thus, the second camp, those who are scared to death of him!). But the guys who aren't scared usually will stop and talk about their dogs and ask me about Trent in general. Most of them are dog owners themselves, with Pits, Dobermans, Rottweilers, Australian Cattle Dogs, Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, etc. I'm even surprised with the amount of attention he gets, although there are some who prefer to keep their distance while we talk. Still, I can say he's definitely been a guy magnet for me and at this point, no complaints from me about it ;)

I'm not sure if there's a trend or if it's just my area and the people I know, but the rude guys are generally the same people who are afraid of my dog (or yell from across the street "dat dog gonna bite! Gonna kill!") whereas the pleasant people are the ones who like to stop for a chat and talk about dogs. There are a group of guys who think it's fun to jump out and scare me around 2 a.m. when I'm out walking (I am up at strange hours) and go past them. They don't mean any harm since I'm acquainted with most of them, but after a couple guys tried to jump on me out of nowhere for kicks (I spook easily), they got a nasty reaction from my dog and leave me alone now LOL When Trent's nearby, I've never had to worry about a guy getting too close for comfort! Absolutely agree that it isn't always the case when I'm alone or with friends.

I remember on the morning show I listen to on the radio on my drive to work a couple months back they had this question out for people to call in. One guy called and said he never takes the time to get to know a woman with a small dog. He says his experience is that too many of them are needy and/or high-maintenance. He says if they own at least one dog over 40Lbs he'll start paying attention to learn more about them, anything smaller or no dog at all and he moves on. Just sharing the story here, not saying I agree with his view. Many of our clients are small dogs and certainly not all their owners are high maintenance.
I've heard that before. Tiffany is probably boy repellent, but whatever. Saves me the trouble of talking to people who buy into those stereotypes. :p

Justin loves, no adores, keely. I wish i could videotape how he acts with her. Its honestly the most adorable thing ever.

Justin has a lab, and frankly, im pretty sure if a guy has a dog at all, and he takes care of it, i`d be more inclined to be attracted to him . Guys who don`t like dogs are a major turn off for me.

On a side note, i have a yorkie, she is definatly not some fru fru little lap dog. Yea its fun putting a bow in her hair every once in a while and she has to dress up for the cold but thats as far as it goes. My dog is the most 'get down and dirty dog' ive ever met. More so the haley, my german shepherd. If keely doesnt have her daily run through the woods and regular mud bath, it all goes down hill haha. Its probably the way i raised her, but shes a very tough little bugger. I raised her as a german shepherd :p So just because i own a small dog definatly does not mean i am high maintanence, nor am i needy. :p

For me: I know, without a doubt, that a man who is walking around with a yorkie either has a girlfriend, or has a boyfriend. I've never met a straight man who just likes yorkies enough to own one. It's true of a lot of small, fluffy breeds, but particularly yorkies.

What do you think?? I'm particularly interested in hearing from the guys on this one. :D
^^ thanks for that one! lol

I am drawn to guys with active, medium to large dogs. (Terriers like JRTs, Rats and Patterdales earn big dog cred though :p )

I've noticed my Smooth Collies attract attention from men (never noticed it as much in the Roughs) but I also get a lot of attention with the terriers once they realize they race and course - that makes them "cool".

I tend to gravitate towards guys that interact well with their dog(s). Breed doesn't really matter to me. But, that being said, all puppehs are CUTE. :D And I don't know if I'd go up to a guy with a toy breed/terrier dog, just because I don't prefer toy breed/terrier dogs. I'd be much more likely to approach if the dog were one of "my" breeds - Lab, APBT, Rottie, Mastiff, etc.

I seem to attract men who own pit bulls or border collies. They also happen to be two of my favorite breeds. I would never hold owning a dainty chihuahua or a fluffy shih tzu against a guy though. I like dogs of all different sorts.

I am more interested in how the guy is interacting with his dog, but I certainly tend to notice more if it's a breed I like! Puppies of any breed are a plus.

Juno has earned me a lot of attention and I think it is super cool when guys start boxing with her :D

Danes attract a ton of attention, male or female. My husband had (and we still have him) a Staffordshire Bull Terrier when I met him. I'm not a big fan of the bully breeds but I like almost all dogs.

Lol, this thread is hilarious. I'm a guy, and while I do tend to like certain breeds more than others, what turns me one the most about a woman I'm interested in is when she has a more balanced relationship with her dogs. If she's talking to her dog in that baby voice way where "every-ting is oh so cwute, isn't it? hehe!!!!"--oh my god, get me out of there! I could maybe put up with that for one afternoon, and then I'd want to kill myself. On the other hand, if I meet a girl who knows how to handle her dog and she treats her dog like a DOG and not like a little person, it definitely makes me feel more interested in getting to know her better. I know some people love meeting each other and bonding over sharing that doggy-woggy type energy with their doggy-woggy, but I guess it's the opposite for me.

It's like what's a few of you have said already: for me, it's not the breed as much as it is the way the person interacts with the dog. You can usually tell a lot about a person from that...

Very hard for me to give you an answer if we're talking strictly about breed because that's just not what my mind pays attention to any more... hmm. For me, though, walking these two together (plus any other dogs I'm fostering or dog sitting at the time) generate a LOT of attention from people. And if you have a group of girls together, forget about it: I almost have to run to get away with them or avoid them in the first place so I don't end up spending the rest of my day talking, because they see these two and it's "OOOOOHHHH my GOOOSHHH!! HOW CUTE!!!" and they just want to talk about these dogs, and dogs in general, and how they had a dog just like this and that when they were young, and.... Hahaha, it's kind of funny. Something tells me that if I tried to do this to pick up women, it wouldn't work as well; but because I do this stuff because I love it and I'm committed to giving the dogs I work with a good life, people can just sense that and it draws them in... But will admit, those two do make a cute team. :)

I know this is titled "Chick Magnet Breeds" but Labs have gotten a lotta dudes talking to me. I took Boomer (100lb lab) downtown on the train and oh my god, I was chatting to way too many guys. Even with Duke, who most say "Nice dog, she's beautiful!" (my poor feminine boy..), same thing. Many guys apparently like a nice retriever!

For me, a nice in shape herding or sporting breed is a big attraction for me. Or a nice mutt. They must be in shape though, fat dogs are bad.
