Bichonmom, you are more than welcome here and I'm sure you will fit in with the majority that promotes responsible breeding.

This thread has been blown out of proportion. GJ's has proven herself in past posts to be a responsible breeder and I'm sure if you looked through you would find this to be true.

As for forum rules, we do have rules. Two of the main ones are that the forum drama that happens on other forums is not to be brought here (as is the case with this thread it appears) and that every member is to be treated with respect.

I dont think you should breed them at all! Cuz their mum had skin issues and temp problems! JMO
I would like to know what this means.
That statement really worries me and when you said things like "you already know the answer to this" and "She is dead! you know that! I have spoken to the vets and other breeders and I have been told that its not hereditary and its not something that will be passed along to her pups!"
that suggests to me that she may have had these issues. If you don't mind me asking how did she die? And what exactly were the problems??

I will look through your posts if I can find the answers then I am sorry to bother you.

Thank you Saje. If she truly is responsible then I apologise, I'm sure you understand how emotions can be strong over issues like these. I will go and look at the posts now. :)

If I'm understanding the issue correctly, the mom's skin problems were entirely due to being pregnant and nothing heriditary. It's sort of like when a human mother develops a type of diabetes while she's pregnant, which then disappears after birth. It is not passed on to the children and as far as I know does not raise the child's risk of contracting a full-fledged case of diabetes. Pregnancy does all sorts of funky things to the body and some of the conditions that arise during shouldn't be used as a marker to overall health.
ok if you look this is what happened to her, and its in this thread!

Bichonmum: no comments have been made by me towards you. NONE! I have never met you anywhere nor have I seen any reason to think anything ill of you.

My posts were directed at the two people who came here from another forum and after attacking Gallien repeatedly there, brought the exact same agruement here. Problem is the explaination and truth was already posted and debated on the other forum so to start it over again here, is just plain cruel. It is bringing up a very hurtful reminder to Gallien about her beloved dog. That is the thing that is bothering me because Gallien is a good friend and I see the hurt she is suffering. As has been stated by several people who know Gallien....she is responsible and she is not a bad breeder. I see no need for anyone to continue questioning that. I certainly can understand the need to educate and try to keep everyone responsible; I run a rescue and I see the horrors of unwanted dogs and pups. I also am about to venture into the breeding side and I have suffered more then enough hassels that I really do not post about it anymore here. I guess bottom line is that it is wonderful to educate people and that is very necessary but after that you gotta let it go. Some people refuse to learn, or know more then let on. I know I do not volunteer alot of information, I just feel it is my business what I do not anyone elses. I have been called irresponsible and even accused of breeding rescue dogs... untrue! I have put alot of time and effort into searching out my breeding stock, and have three dogs spayed or neutered because it just was not exactly what I wanted to pass on. I have a mentor who has bred for years and he is guiding me, so I do not screw up or do anything stupid. I also have a waiting list for my pups so next heat I will be breeding one bitch. I need more down payments to breed anymore then that, I want my pups sold before the breeding to make sure that there are not a dozen unwanted dogs here in my kennel taking up space for the rescue dogs.

I think it would depend on your circumstances at the time. Having a double litter is a tremendous amount of work and very tiring. It has its pros and cons but the major concern would be that with 2 litters at once it is far more difficult to socialize the pups. As I'm sure you know that is a very important part of raising them and it is essential for well-adjusted dogs later in life.

If you feel up to it then I would go for it but if you haven't raised many litters I would wait a while before taking on such a huge responsibility.
It certainly can be easier in many aspects but realistically speaking you won't have to wait too long before having the second litter anyway.
If the bitches went into heat every 6 months then by the time the first litter was old enough to leave for new homes you would only have a couple of months before breeding again. If you chose to do it that soon or you could wait and give yourself a rest for a while.

I'd wait and have a double litter later if you decide to, but really it's your decision. Go for what you feel is best for all involved.

I think you are mistaken...I am the lucky one. I feel honoured to have met you and gotten to know you.

Like I said no ill feelings towards Bichonmum at all, never was from me. I feel she has asked legitamate questions and in no way has been rude, disrespectful or anything other then helpful. I have no problems with people like her. I am not a moderator here or anything more then a fellow poster but I do stick up for my friends and I do stick up for those being bashed even if I disagree with them. I just feel life is way to short to fight.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thank you, i could cope but I would like you said be worried about the time i could give to them, as my girls are from large litters I than that the poss of 20 pups would turn me gray overnight, i dont mind waiting there is no ruch so i guess i have made up my mind lol

Also i have a family and three other dogs to think abotu so if i had two litters to care for them i wouldnt have time to walk and show the others as I get no help

why would she go on other forums saying this stuff but then come to this forum acting as though she is a responsible breeder?!? Can't we leave other forum's business at the other forum? God this crap is getting really old! People are coming here to learn not to have to read through arguements that happened at different forums which we are not apart of, or aware of. I'm sick of trying to actually LEARN something from this forum and then have to thumb through eight pages of people arguing "well this was said at this forum then I followed you over to this forum and you said this". All the stuff you guys are referring to was not mentioned to at this forum and I don't see why Gallien's would come here and lie but go everywhere else and tell the truth. The truth is for Gallien's to tell not for other people who don't like Gallien's to say.
