Poodles ..there is one here I just LOVE. But it probably wouldn't be like that poodle plus the grooming kills me.

I don't really put much thought into the breeds I wouldn't really own ..I just sort of know what suits me& go with it but for everyone who would but DOCKING ..import from Canada! It's illegal even for working breeds in most provinces. It's why Penn has a tail ..grrrr.

Aside from Aussies and Koolies, there really aren't any breeds I am set on owning ever.

But I will say that I really, really want a Belgian of some variety some day. Except that, nothing to do with the dogs, I feel like I need more dog owning experience so I don't accidentally end up with a neurotic, impulsive dog. I feel like it's just a silly reservation on my part, and I'd probably be just fine with a hairy Belgian (Terv or Groen), but I need to spend more time with them and get to know some actual Belgian owning people in real life before I would ever commit to owning one of my own.

And I have to laugh at the Aussie tails thing. Because the no tail factor was a big reason I didn't really seek out an Aussie. I thought they looked weird without a tail and I just prefer tails in general for mobility reasons, but now I LOVE Journey's little bunny butt. It's so cute. That said, I do want an Aussie with a tail still. But I love them without also.

-Dobermans: rental issues (they aren't allowed in any apartment places in the city)
- Frenchies: health issues, just general issues that come with being all smooshy faced
- Poodle: grooming requirements
- APBT: Dog aggression. I am a dog park person and I know those two don't mix.

and I am proud to rep the aussie bunny butt! lol I'm a weirdo I guess I've always loved them on dogs. They dog butt wiggles! haha

Merlins breeder has started leaving tails on mismarks and I was kind of hoping I wouldn't get one lol

Having spent so much of my life with rottweilers I have grown to absolutely love those nubbins! I miss my wigglebutt! <3

Oh, and I'll post about my mom since she wants me to help find a dog for her when I move. A CKCS is perfect for my mom- she finds them extremely appealing and the temperament is good for her, but the possible heart problems are a big issue. :/

Kuvasz, except the billowing mountains of white hair, and the fact that when one goes outdoors in my part of the country they come back inside looking like a sarplaninac. :( If they had a smooth coat variety or came in any color except for white I'd get one in an instant.

Irish wolfhounds and Scottish deerhounds, because health.

Sibes, because if I get a super active dog I want it to be one that alert barks. Not sure why those two traits have to go together in my mind, but they do.

Spanish Mastiff: don't have livestock for it to guard and I've come to the conclusion I don't want that large of a dog in the house.

Dogue de Bordeaux: see above about size. And also health.

Basset Hound: the hound portion of the name and all that comes with it.

Pit bull/Stafford: potential for animal aggression. It wouldn't fit into my lifestyle.

Central Asian Shepherd: way too guardy...I've also come to the conclusion that I dont want to have to worry about a dog that cant be 100% trusted with people. But they're still gorgeous.

My agility instructor left tails on at least some of her Aussie's, maybe all (Megan probably knows), so there ARE people out there doing it. And I feel like it would be easier to find a tailed aussie, than some of the other breeds.
All of dem, and dew claws too! (The 'puppies' are coming up on four years old this year, holy crow!)

A local person just left tails on half of her aussies puppies (I don't know how she chose though).

I've seriously looked at:
Aussie-tails and barking and hair
English Shepherd-at the time, lack of health testing and doing important puppy stuff
Toller-the more I meet, the more I'm convinced I'll never own one (barking, neurosis, fear, etc... and I used to ADORE the breed)
Belgian Shepherd-epilepsy, structure on some, overall health

Toy breeds - I dearly love them but they are just too small and I always fear of squishing them in some way

Poodles, but for the hair. Its not even the grooming. I just don't like the way it feels when I touch it. I have the same issue with most doodles, but there are a lot more reasons I don't want one of those

Oh, that's another one.

Curly Coats, because of the way they look/coat texture. I have a feeling I'll get over this, because I'm very much intrigued to have NextDog be a Curly. But we'll see.

Dobie.
DH doesn't like them.

Pity cos I got to meet & take care of a couple of them and they were just
like big lap dogs.

Well I'm spoiled in that my breeds of choice are all generally quite healthy. Belgians rarely have ortho issues or DJD and often live into their mid to late teens. Many Mals work as K9's or MWDs until they're 10. Epilepsy is a concern but not "common." Most people I know with Belgians have never owned a epileptic dog, but are well aware of the problem. Cardis can have long dog problems though, but are generally pretty hardy and long-lived. I don't really want to divert from that trend.

I really enjoy Viszlas but I'm just not sure they're right for me to live with. Oh and Pugs, because they're hilarious but just wouldn't fit with my lifestyle.

Honestly, there are a lot breeds I admire but won't own because they're just too iffy in the overall health department.

I've been highly considering Aussies, like they're pretty high up on my list lately, but the tail thing bothers me too. I just... LOVE full tails. And it's so much harder to find the breeder I want with dogs I like AND worry about full tails. And I don't want to have to pick a dog at 2-3 days old if I put a deposit down to have a tail non-docked.
SHEPPY!!!

Aussie - except for the barking & the massive amounts of coat & growing up a lot of people that had them, had dogs with iffy temperaments.

Berger Picard - I feel that they are sharper dogs than I really want. I seriously considered them before getting an ES, but as I joined BP groups and heard from more owners....I dunno, they just didn't feel like they would be a good fit.

Greyhound - First (and the biggest reason), the husband doesn't like the look of most sighthounds, says they are too skinny. 2nd, I have heard lots of stories about how thin skinned these guys are and how easily they get cut and scratches and whatnot.

I met (one) at an event I was working, the owner runs him in agility I believe. He was really, really sweet, goofy, there was someone running around in a big costume that goosed him and he thought it was the best thing ever.
