At what age

A month or so before I turned 18. It was the summer before I left for college. I am now married to him. We were together 2 and 1/2 years with a split before that happened. Now we have been together for 6 and 1/2 years and have been married for 2 months.
Even though I love him and want to only be with him, I do wish I had waited until we were married although I'm sure I would have been disappointed as our wedding night was more trouble than it was worth with the hotel so was not romantic and nothing happened. By the time we got in the room we were staying in I was ready to just go to sleep. But I still feel like I did something wrong for religious reasons that I didn't wait til I was married.
(TMI) Although my first time was much better than anything now. Ever since I went on the pill it has just been the furthest thing from my mind, and not usually a great experience.

I'm sorry for everyone who has had such bad experiences.
I was 17 my overwhelming thoughts afterwards were "Was that it????" Can't really say I regret it but I'm not proud of it either.
Just a little off topic over the past few months me and 10 (now 11 year old) daughter have been having the facts of life chats.
I'm a great believer in being as honest as I can with my kids. For instance I don't just say drugs are BAD I've explained how drugs can make you feel and explained why people might begin to take them then I've explained what they do to you (watching Amy Whinehouse and Ozzy Ozbourne gives a pretty good indication!)
Anyway I was explaining how people might have sex for pleasure rather than having sex for babies and what peer pressure is etc etc.
She says "Well how old have you got to be" so I says 16 and before I could say but I'd rather you not be 16 she screws her pretty little nose up and says "Eeewww no I don't want to be doing that at 16 will it be alright if I wait till I'm over 20 or something?"
Her Dad said I should have told her to wait til shes 36!! lol

I agree !!! It's a natural thing , but I feel too many are taking it as recreational ! I still feel that love and commitment should come first . And I don't mean Puppy Love !!! As I've said before .... your reputation will spread by any teenage boy who " has scored " My brother was 3 yrs older than I and boy did I hear stories when he and his friends were talking !!!! I sure didn't want to be one of " those " girls !!!
I was close to 19. I had figured I would wait for "the one" and hadn't found him at the time. I had dated, but never really "connected" to know it was "the one" if that makes sense at all.
Then one day I woke up and decided that I wasn't going to wait anymore. (seriously, it was just like that, I just climbed out of bed and thought no more waiting) I was seeing someone, but nothing serious, at least not to me. I went right on ahead and did it.
It was nothing special, not horrible but not great in the slightest and I remember actually thinking that THIS is what all the commotion in the movies/tv is about??

Afterwards I didn't date him for long......I broke it off because as I said, I didn't feel it was going anywhere anyway.
Why did I waste something so special when I KNEW he wasn't "it"?? I don't know.......but part of me thinks it was just plain old curiosity and impulse. Ya, I can be that way even now.
At the moment I have three teens in the house. I talk openly with them. I have told them the importance of a loving relationship, we speak of it often. I also tell them that it is their choice.
I have NEVER told them "don't do it" until marriage. That philosophy has never worked since the beginning of time and it isn't going to work now. I DO tell them to be responsible about it, it's not just THEIR future they put on the line, but the future of a possible child.
We have talked (complete with pamphlets and articles) about disease. They know they can come to me and ask for birth control and it will be so. I don't have to like their choice, but I will back them up as long as they are thinking it through and making responsible decisions.
