So Upset! Dog killed other dog.

Doberluv, I am trying to picture the event in my head so I can answer your question about which way the smaller dog was running, but it's all kindof a blur. There was no growling or barking or freezing or anything that I would normally take for a sign of aggression, it didn't escalate from...

So Upset! Dog killed other dog.

Thank you all for your comments, I have a lot to think about. I really appreciate everyones comments and I hope that I'll be able to provide some small consolation for the woman who lost her dog. For the record, I never keep Vlad out or off leash around the other dogs when there are small...

So Upset! Dog killed other dog.

I wish I had a time machine. I will definitely apologize if I can manage it, I think I feel too horrible to even talk to her. What can you say to someone to make up for something like this? And I would never blame her for this, this was obviously my fault.

So Upset! Dog killed other dog.

On saturday I had my dog at the dog park, and he attacked a little toy dog. I have had issues with him and small dogs in the past, but nothing to this extent. Usually he just looks WAY too interested. But this time he ran over and pinned the dog to the ground, shook him around and everything...

Big Dog and Small Dogs Progress?

So I've been taking my sight impaired 90 lb husky vlad to the dog park. He's not great with small dogs, but the dog park we go to does have a "small dog" area which I keep him out of. Unfortunately some small dog owners do like to have their smaller dogs out with the big dogs for some reason...

    Car insanity

Part of this is a respect/leadership issue and part of this has to do with your dog learning to be patient and calm. This is true. He is a husky, so leadership issues are pretty much normal, but I think the patient and calm part is something we could actually do something about. He just...

    Car insanity

Weirdly, he will only get in on one side of the car easily at a time. For a long time he would only get in on the Driver's Side because he hit his head getting in on the passengers side. But now he will jump right in on the passengers side, and wont get in on the driver's side. He's usually...

    Car insanity

My dog Vlad has been getting worse and worse in the car. He's always been kindof touchy about it. The windows have to be open, and he barks and whines on longer trips, or whenever we slow down and he thinks he can get out. Sometimes he'll calm down, sometimes he wont. For a while there...

    Argon doesn't Wag his Tail

Vlad really only wags his tail before we pet him, or when we're sweet talking him.

    Dog possessive of me?

So I've started taking my husky Vlad to the dog park. It has been pretty good, he still has issues with very small dogs (who are supposed to be in the "small dog area" anyway) but I've been keeping an eye on him and just trying to avoid that situation for now. (He seems to view smaller dogs as...

    +R makes dogs "softer"??

You beat me! I was just going to say Correlation is not the same as Causation. This is a more likely explanation. /statistics nerd

Rescue dog is scared -hides all day

Does she have a crate? Was she crate trained? That seems like it would be a good safe place for her to be, especially an airline style crate or one with a blanket? If she already has one, have you tried that Dog Appeasement Pheremone and spray it inside to maybe help her feel relaxed...

    Trainign Agressive Dog Video

Have you guys seen this video of Sit Means Sit training an aggressive dog? It looks like they are using 2 e collars. YouTube - Chicago Dog Training with an Aggressive Pitbull I was just curious what this board's reactions were, and what better ways there would be to go about this? Do you...

One Bone to Rule Them All (Training aid?)

Uhm, Yeah, I get that point. That's why we've decided not to allow him to have it. I was just wondering if using something like this as a training aid might cause further problems down the road and if anyone has any insight into that, that'd be great.

One Bone to Rule Them All (Training aid?)

So over the weekend we were visiting my boyfriend's Mom and she gave my dog Vlad a giant bone. (It looks like the knob end of a huge freaking bone, I try not to think about where it came from... I have vegetarian leanings.) Anyway, he's obsessed. He has been carrying it around and burying...

    can he be left alone?

The first time my sibe was alone in our house (after he escaped his crate) he flipped every garbage container in the house, ripped up the rug by the back door, lit the gas range, scared the crap out of the cats and destroyed 2 pairs of my underwear. He actually has some separation anxiety...

White House dog PWNs rude reporter

I think my internal bias against reporters probably increased the Schaudenruede factor for me. I definitely think the dog walker bears a lot of the responsibility (Also, what's with the slip lead?) But the way they were badgering him to look this way and blah blah blah, and then him biting...

White House dog PWNs rude reporter

I'm always more inclined to feel bad for the dog. Plus, the dog walker should have known that Barney didn't want to be pet. It wasn't totally the reporter's fault, but Barney was not acting like a dog who wanted to be pet. Sometimes you just gotta let walking dogs walk... or something.
