    How much would you spend?

I have a couple of leashes I bought for about $50, and that was like 10 years ago, I still use them to this day. I have so much dog equiptment laying around, I havent bought a collar for a couple of years now. Food, vet bills are very expensive supplying for 8 large breed dogs, but those are...

    The most important dog training

Dogs that you described are a HUGE liability and a danger to themselves. I have one dog who is VERY nervy, to the point where he cant even go out because he is so stressed, thinks everyone is a threat will bite any dogs people and even kids (which is a HUGE issue, children) if he feels he is...

    is breeding right or wrong?

A responsible breeder would NOT allow any of their dogs to end up in shelters, if they do they are in the same class as byb's and puppy mills. You will NEVER find any of my pups in the shelter, and if that does happen you better believe I would be on the next plane, train, bus to that shelter...

    European rotties and dobies.

"European" dogs to me tend to be shorter, stockier and more compact. Which makes them look huge, when in reality they are not. But I do agree that first Dobe (couldnt see the rest of the Dobe pics) needs to loose some weight and develope a more defined uptuck.

would you own a dog-aggressive dog?

I agree! I much rather people take precautions with their dog (DA or not) instead of assuming their dog will get along with all other dogs and let them approach. All my dogs are reactive to a point some more than others. But dogs are ANIMALS, not robots. Just because a dog does not like...

    Rewarding with a towel?

Not necessarily. Its much easier to train obedience such as heeling and proper positioning with food, as you dont have to interrupt to tug and then replace the dog in the position. JMO

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

Mia, your post was quite rude and defensive. I was stating the facts that no one told her to keep the dog and no one knows the extent of the issue. Why dont you try your holier than thou attitude with someone else? I would take the dog but I have my hands full with all 8 of my dogs.

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

Right there, not to mention it was implied throughout your entire post. If this dog was given consistent and proper leadership and it still acted like this, then yes put it down. But this family lives in FEAR and teh dog knows it. Also no one said to send it off to another family, everyone...

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

NO ONE to telling her to keep the dog. No one on this forum knows if this issue os fixable or not, but no one has encouraged her to keep boris.

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

I guess we will have to agree to disagree. This dog's confidence has been raised throughout his entire life, therefore he has NOTHING to fear. No one has ever challenged his "authority" therefore he is the alpha and telling his little minions to back off. But in reality he does not have the...

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

Just understand that Boris is MUCH larger and stronger than Milo and can seriously injure you. And know that you must protect YOURSELF and family first (not to mention your other dogs). It is a HUGE liability to have a dog that is unpredictable, and you must be prepared to handle that both...

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

But it is a part of the genetic makeup for ANY dog, they all have the potential to become like this. This dog is not a lost cause, but the problem is finding someone experienced enough to handle and has enough time to devote to him.

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

All dogs have a level of possession, it all depends on the individual dog and how far they are willing to go. This dog is no longer scared of someone taking his toy or whatever away, he's making sure of it. He KNOWS no one will have the balls to take it from him, therefore not out of fear, but...

I think I'm going to find a new home for Boris... or put him down

Possession is NOT fear, thats where you will get hurt. Its not like you back a dog into a corner to make it go into fight/flight. This dog views EVERYTHING in its possession as high value and will defend it with its life. He needs to understand that NOTHING belongs to him, and I get the...

Selling pups to those under legal age.

It depends on the individual "minor". There are alot of youngsters who are interested in schutzhund, and chances are if they are interested, the parents are too. So I have no problem selling a dog to a minor, but as it was stated it is illegal to enter a contract with a minor. So the parents...

    Breed Bans

Poodles are not little foo-foo dogs. They can be mean. I got tore up by a Standard poodle, twice. Not little bites either, both requiring stitches.

    It's MY Dog

My mom STILL tries to dictate how I treat my dogs. And I dont even live with her. I just say ok mom, and change the subject. But no matter what she knows more about dogs then me, when she still uses the ol' newspaper method for housebreaking .

How do you qualify homes for your puppies?

Ok, got it. I was like wait your having Dobe pups, and I doubt they spend so much time at the groomers, not enough to get a reference. I've gotta say, I havent taken a dog to the groomer in ages, a good brushing an the ocassional bath works just fine.
