Precisely! Even of my dog friends, only some get to EVER tug with Kastle. "Um excuse me, his grip is a problem, could you NOT let him tug that way"..."oh, he regripped on your hand and then HELD ON FOR DEAR LIFE? Awesome!" lol Not to mention even some GSD owners (not working-line) are overwhelmed by his...enthusiastic response to all things above his frustration threshold...which is almost all the things LOL I get, "wow, he seemed so sweet in the parking lot, but...he's a LOT of dog" when they see him about to work.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE ME LIKE KASTLE EVEN MORE?! :lol-sign: He's so **** cool, I want a clone of him.

Sidenote, I have a barky Mal. :( *cries* Not nearly as barky as my corgi (what is?), but a frustration barker/screamer. I'm convinced it's the GSD back in her KNPV side of the family, she barks JUST like a GSD. We've put some control on her now, and put barking on cue, but she used to spend every. single. moment that she did not have a tug or sleeve in her mouth barking when I worked her. One decoy told me she was the loudest Mal he knew.

Yay, how awesome for me. LOL Thank god some obedience and barking on cue cleared that up.

Aussies make noise? Wahhhhhh!?

:p

A good friend who used to run aussies and now has a mal & BC was joking one day and said if a mal or BC barks on the course you know you messed up, if an Aussie barks its just running. lol
This is hilarious! I was just thinking about when Recon barks at me I know I need to fix something...

I've never seen an Aussie act like that on a course, though!

Backup barks but it is a lot of frustration and some of it is jut bubbling excitement. He goes SO fast that he's always yelling at me to give instructions faster, do more, NOW.

When he's actually engaged in an activity he quiets but that's rare. He's an excitement/frustration barker.

He also is very vocal outside of training too though. He barks jumping off the couch (ZOMG), he growls when he passes Arnold, growls when he cuddles, growls when he eats, sigh/whine -> bark when behind a barrier.

Sloan took a long time to get to bark in IPO and she reserves her noise for guard work usually.

I do not know Siri, but in my opinion, MOST Terriers have the sort of edge I'm talking about. With a side of brat-opinion to boot. Terriers are pretty kickin' dogs! :D

Staffy is on the list as well but I KNOW NO Staffies that are doing agility - all that I know are doing Flyball and that's where their pups go. I'm also aware of some SSA/DA that can happen there, but for the ones I know, not a problem. HOWEVER, I despise their coat. I hate non-double coated dogs, their hair doesn't ball up into the corners so I can just pick them up, I would have to actually SWEEP :yikes: lol

The perfect rescue Pittie is also an option...my friend just got an AMAZING dog out of rescue...but I also really want a puppy so I can do all the fun formative puppy stuff...and puppies are such a crapshoot!
LOL, well then you just need a Siri obviously. I love that she is totally in love with other dogs (and knowing her lines I am thinking/hoping she will stay that way), without losing any of the terrier-ness!

And she is, most certainly, a brat.

Hmmm your B sounds like my B, LOL. It's definitely frustration/franticness/bubbling over for Blossom also, and outside of guarding, is induced by prey or toys. When she's focused, she's likewise quiet and intense. And not a demand barker the way Keeva is.

This seems to be how most of the Mals I know are.

I think Siri has it under the surface, but it's almost there. You are right, when she's on she's on, but she does get distracted easily and can flip that switch quickly. I would put her closer to Zuma in that regards than Zinga.

Here's the difference. When Siri gets frustrated she tends to find something better to do, when Zinga gets frustrated she tends to push me into doing what she wants.

I don't find Siri as pushy as Zinga is, and that's what I'm talking about with this.

That makes sense! Thank you!

I can see what you mean when you say she finds something better to do. Like "I'm frustrated, you suck, I'm going to go chase this butterfly instead of playing with you!"

Yeeeeuuupp. That's mah dog. I probably could have done more to curb the barking when Cohen was younger (heck, I could be doing more now too) but I never did. I kind of thought I had a defective Aussie until I saw others run at trials.

And all their barks are the same shrill, ear piercing tone. I can tell an Aussie bark from a mile away. Sometimes I'll hear an Aussie running and panic for a second because I'll think Cohen has escaped her crate and is causing mayhem.

I'm curious what Chazzers' impressions of Cohen would be if they got a chance to work her in person. She's so fun when she's turned on and so focused and resilient. I luv mah dog.

Poor freaky B dogs. The world will never be fast enough for them. lol
LMAO... Never, never, never. Someday I'll tell you about all the PVC Blossom has smashed in my attempts to do agility foundations with her, mostly because she was staring at me or the toy in my hand, or because she thought "through" was faster than over or around... I feel like we could commiserate, maybe?

I think you should rescue a young pittie. Just my .02!

Sir was the best decision I could have made in that position...

We ran some full courses for the first time ever last week in between classes that I was teaching, and he really surprised me in numerous ways. He needs a little more attention work, but that is all...

Numerous people (friends, co-trainers, and students) made comments when we came out of the ring that he was just as fast (if not faster) than any BC and had the drive and desire to do it all day long. I heard "He will be a force to be reckoned with." more than a few times.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't like raising/training adults for personal use, especially rescue dogs.

Also, I'm curious - with Aussies being out of the running for lacking edge, what makes you consider Koolies? I know that for me, the issue (beyond importing and lack of registration) with Koolies is the lack of edge, natural aggression, guardiness, etc, though I love the build and coat.
I have only met one, of course, but the one K/Coolie that I know is a very soft dog. I think he would definitely be lacking the edge that you like. However he is just one dog from just one breeder so you may be able to find something that fit you better from somewhere else.

From my understanding, the breeder that dog is from doesn't want that edge, would rather have an all-around ranch dog. Similar to ES, at least that's the way I've interpreted it.
