A couple years ago I bought some really nice semi-dressy slacks that I thought I could wear for my Mom's big birthday party coming up. I tried them on and I'm swimming in them. They're all baggy and sagging off my waist. Another pair of pants that I bought before I got so fat, which I couldn't even zip up a year ago...couldn't even get them up past my bum...they were so tiny... fit just right now. They're really cool...sort of a very soft fabric, almost like velvet, but not... and paisley pattern. But they're more wintry looking pants. So, hmmm....I think I'm going shopping for a new outfit. Everything is sized so differently so I am not sure what size I am in numbers, but I've basically gone from med/large in some cases to a small in most cases. But, I'm still over weight...need to lose another 10-15 lbs I'd say...maybe even more. I'm stuck.

Congrats to you all.

I've been stuck for 3 weeks losing 0 :( It's not a plateau, it's mostly my own fault. I'll do great, stick to good habits for 2-3 days then get stressed and fall back into my old 'stress reliever' of comforting food for a day or two

I have really got to find another outlet (that I can STICK TO) to turn to when I feel upset! *kicks self*

Take up running... or tai bo... or something. Endorphins!

<3 <3 It's true........happy people don't shoot their husbands! :rofl1:

Alas, I have to train myself to enjoy exercise! Generally speaking, I don't. I like certain activities like swimming and tennis, but those aren't something I can turn to easily, so other types of endorphin provoking activities I must force myself to do/like. I'm working on it, but it's a retraining process that's very slow going!

Go to class with Kat! ;)
I don't see that happening! But that reminds me, I have a couple pictures for you, LOL

I started doing the E84 Challenge from Evolv, because I was just watching my weight creep up and up and was getting less than happy.

I'm running for 20 minutes almost every day and then doing yoga/stretching/core exercises for 10-20 minutes after that, drinking a shake for breakfast. I'm down 5 pounds already and my muscle tone is starting to look AWESOME.

I have some pretty exciting news.. I threw out my scale yesterday :)

I know it may not seem like a huge deal.. but I have had eating disorders in the past, and kind of relied on the scale as a crutch since I went through treatment. I don't trust mirrors or clothing or anything else and basically let that number rule my life in many ways, like checking it 10 times a day and before bed.

I don't know, I went for a run, felt good, took a shower and suddenly just had enough... and threw it out.
It's been a whole day and I've fought the compulsion of needing to know at least 100 times it feels lol but it's kind of liberating.

I've been on plenty of diets, always been pretty active... but this really does feel like the first time where I'm actually doing it for myself in more than just "myself" in the way of making the number go down.
It feels healthy :) food isn't my arch nemesis and exercise isn't a forced ritual.. it really does feel good

So I have no number to report! but I do have a change in attitude I guess lol

(Oh and exercise wise I'm focusing on running as well as doing Insanity workouts)

I am going to see a nutritionist tomorrow that works with people with PCOS and eating for other diseases. Hoping that will be a good step.

I slipped up big time for a couple weeks, but back on track again now. I might add that I felt like CRAP those couple weeks - it's amazing how much better not eating crap makes you feel.

I have no idea where my weight's at right now, my scale is stuck in a corner under stuff because I was cleaning my room lol

Amen to that! Isn't it funny how we (humans in general) KNOW we feel better when we eat better but that doesn't stop us from reaching for the junk?

Here's a wonderful example: I don't like McDonalds in general. It has nothing to do with dieting, I've never liked them even as a child. They are overly greasy, overly salty, and IMO the burgers don't taste like 100% beef regardless of what they claim. BUT...........I have a weakness for McDonald's filet of fish sandwiches. Every now and then I just have to have one. I know that when I have one it's going to tear my stomach up and mess with my intestines.........there's no "IF" about it, but that doesn't stop me from wanting one and drooling over the commercials

Ack.. just to share a frustration.. every time I do something really active my weight loss stalls. LOL talk about demotivating for doing any sort of exercise.

At least I really enjoy what I am doing these days for exercise (training some horses, and its a hilly property so I get shlepping up and down hills too) but still its frustrating.

I KNOW! LOL, I've lived all over! Not to mention we live RIGHT ON THE GREAT LAKES! LOL.........so yes, I've had everything from salt water to fresh water fish.

I'm NOT a seafood/fish lover. I like crab, lobster, I can tolerate shrimp but it's not high on the list. I like tilapia (if it's grilled) salmon, mackerel, and tuna...........then of course FILET O FISH! LOL

I can't tell you how many times I've heard "You'd like xyz if you had it cooked right" or "Must be because you've never had it FRESH CAUGHT!" Yes, I've had lots of fish cooked lots of ways, fresh and frozen as well. I have a japanese aunt (uncle's wife and she loves to cook and is a huge seafood lover) so I can assure you, I've tried everything from squid to octopus, to sword fish to cat fish.........not a fan!

GIVE ME A FILET O FISH OVER THEM ANYTIME! :rofl1:

I know so many runners and distance type (ex. triathletes) who are now having serious heart problems so I was really interested when I ran across this article. http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2012/01/25/cardio-may-damage-heart.aspx

I started using the Peak Fitness principles and have found that it DOES make a significant -- and good -- difference.
Yes, this is why, I think, at the Y, all their classes are designed with interval training concepts. They seem to be up to date with the research that way. And again, swimming makes me out of breath a little bit, but not extremely. I vary my laps too, so that I'll do several in a row, then rest for a half minute or so, then do a few sprints with flip turns, rest, then several at a time etc. We use to always swim the same speed for a looooong distance. A mile swimming is long (it's not like running a mile) and it use to take me 1/2 an hour to do that. Now, it takes me twice as long, but I never swim a whole mile. It's just kind of useless I think.

Interesting article. I think they've been suspecting that for some time. I remember hearing about it quite a while ago. It makes sense to mimic our ancestors. In fact, the running, then walking, interval type migration is how the native Americans traveled.
