Miakoda impressed herself on so many of us and she was a great catalyst in our stand against BSL and all forms of breed-ism.

Well most welcomes are done in a welcome thread, not mid-thread in thread located in the Forum News, but that's just me.

And I dont welcome anyone that doesnt deem themselves worthy of conversation.

I didn't get in your post that you were looking for welcome. No where in your OP did you say much about yourself. You even brought up So you can't blame us for being wary.

AND to be honest I am a little insulted.

IF you are taking over a well established forum wouldnt' you read and lurk a bit first? There are whole threads about us. There is a sticky in the Fire Hydrant about us talking about ourselves and posting pics.

I too don't welcome every new member either.

The best way to get to know us is to jump in and join the discussions. Read, argue, join in the crazy chat sessions, post oodles of pics, look at oodles of picks. Make jokes, thread jack when possible, give Hugs and vibes. Shed tears and share laughter. THEN you will know us and we will know you.

We are a pretty good group and I hope you take the time to get to know us (just like all of us had to take time to get to know all the others too)

I'm seriously hoping something will be done about these ads...for example I just had one that tried to load and kept giving me a pop up telling me something about the security certificate and asking if I wanted to trust it and let it run on my computer...which of course I said no and every time I tried to scroll, it gave me the same pop up about the certificate again...and when I tried to use the back button, it kept reloading the same page over and over again...I understand the need for ads, but this forum has some of the most annoying ones.

Anyway, welcome, MT and I hope that Chaz will continue to be what it is.

I am not sure. I always understood why CHazhound took a distant seat. I think that is almost necessary to keeping the smooth running of the side of the forum we all take for granted. WHat if he had gotten involved, and ended up in one of the heated sides of things, i am not sure that works for keeping the whole works running. I am neither defending or offending anyone here i hope. THis is a different situation then a new member joining. I do hope that people will have some faith in CHazhound and LYnn tht they would not hand us over to someone that they did not deem worthy. I am going to put my faith in that until i have reason to not have faith. ANd so far that has not happened. I would certainly hope that others would still their hostilities until provoked.
THis is not just new person joining, but a new house that has welcomed us as a whole and promised to keep us running so we can continue as we have done. I for one am giving it a chance, crossing my fingers that all goes well, i love people here and believe that some love me and my family as well. WIthout someone to do the responible part of this that i am sure is a headache a goodly portion of the time, i would not have it. I do not blame Chazhound or Lynne for wanting to take a step down and let someone else run the show while they get to be active members. I say give it a chance..and be nice until given a reason to not be. THe forum announcement for new ownership made sense to me. I do believe it is good to know a little about you, your dogs, and why you wish to run CHazhound. I doubt you would have taken it on if you didn't believe in what it stands for.

I meant welcoming in the way that you want us all too state who we are (as in a welcome thread) Yes it was welcoming in the way that it was pleasant. If you want to know who we are then read. LOL more of my life is on here than anywhere else.. a little reading and you could know all about us!

But I dunno, if I was taking over a forum I think I would want to read up a little first.

If you wanted a welcome thread.. then as Mer stated.. start one. If you like and respect the forum at least try to follow the normal conventions.

I didn't know chazhound. I had one convo in chat and that was it, so I can't say what they would and would not do or who they would sell too. I am glad people want to run chaz. BUT I am not going to automatically throw open my arms. I too have been a member of some fantastic forums that were sold. So far NONE of it was change for the better and many actually pretty much died. I truly hope this will not be the case here. So past experience and the OP (original post) makes me wary.

Of course I am willing to give them a chance. I willingly give every member (new and old) a chance. But I have to say this isn't the best of beginnings.

If the 'leader' wants to stay in the back ground like Chazhound that is great.. but if they want to get to know us.. then they should do it like any other member.

Either you want special privileges or you don't.

(hehe I always want special privileges.. but I don't think any of you want me too have them )

I dont have to really post seeing as im at work, but i dont owe anyone anything whether it be a "welcome" or anything else... the reason most of us are here is because the love of our dogs and because of the atmosphere here, and ill be the first to say that if that changes im gone. '

I have not been here as long as many others (coming up on two years soon)--but I will say this: Chazhound is a forum unlike any other. Even though it is a very large community, it is a family--with close knit members, distant cousins, strange uncles, etc. The beauty of this place is that it's members are real--and say it like it is on all topics.
Having said that, it would have been nice if we had heard this announcement from Chaz first--might have helped to aleviate some of the concern regarding changes.

But, I am one who likes to welcome new members and hope that they will be a part of the frey around here! So, MT--welcome. I hope that chazhound will continue to be the home we know and love.

And reply like a condensending 12 year old (no matter WHO you are) will really get you far....

What you guys don't realize is that Chaz and Lynn truly didn't understand how we all feel about them. They are quiet, modest people and it never occurred to either of them that the members here have such a passionate attachment and loyalty to THEM, not just the site.

I know you guys - probably, as a whole, more intimately than anyone. I've literally been with all of you since day one. I've known Chaz and Lynn. They were surprised - as was MT - when I let them know that you would all care so much.

So, no, this wasn't a great start. It should have been an early announcement, maybe even before the transfer, but it wasn't out of any desire to put something over on you guys - it was an honest mistake, made out of an excess of humbleness.

I've not lied to you guys and you know - no matter what, in your present state of anger and distrust you're inclined to tell yourselves - that I won't knowingly mislead you or let our home be threatened. After all, remember, I've got more invested and deeper roots here than anyone.

It's not about us being loyal to the site, as it is being loyal to each other.

I think a heads up about what was going on would have been nice, instead of it being shoved on us all it once, ie. new owner AND changes being made. Afterall, a forum is only as good as it's members, and being such a tight-knit group that we are, I think most of us will share the same feelings.

This post was made out of courtesy for the members. I did not have to post anything about the change in ownership. Yes, I would prefer to stay in the background and let things stay as they were. However, the negativity that was created from a simple FYI has astounded me.

Last time I checked, this site is FREE! However, it takes a lot of time & money to keep it running smoothly. This seems to have escaped most people. There seems to be a sense entitlement here. Like you are owed something.

And now you have a new owner who's invested in a new server, hosting and other things to keep the site FREE that actually cost money! I came in here to keep everyone in the know and all I get is abuse. Like I have done something to deserve this?

I see everyone's point... when i read the post the first time I actually thought it was a joke because it was so abrupt... there was no introduction just a Hi, I am the new owner.... it seemed kind of entitled. The follow up post was not any better... although I understand it probably came from a place of feeling unwelcome. The thing about Chaz was, although we all were very well aware that he owned the site he didnt act like he was better than anyone... he was another dog lover, another person, another member.

I think the best thing would be to forget about this thread all together.

MT: post a new thread, tell us about yourself, your animals, whatever you want... Im sure everyone wants to welcome you... they just need time.
