I'll give it a chance... but be warned, if it turns into this forum - in terms of appearance, bells and whistles, etc. - I'll be abandoning ship faster than... well, pretty fast. Those fancy schmancy doodads slow down the forum, make reading the forum very difficult, and actally shut down my entire network for some reason. So even if I did want to participate in that forum, I couldn't.
Ye GODS, Sizzle . . . Now that's a site that sucks.
And it didn't used to at all......I think they got carried away with "change" and "changed" it right out the door.

I think MeatyTreats wants what's best for the forum, I mean, who wouldn't want their new investment to do well? I have every confidence that he will listen and consider all the voices here at Chazhound IF you have given any change a fair chance.

All I can say is WOW! 5 pages of posts and not 1 was welcoming in the least bit! So much for the sense of "family"! Maybe we should start over! This time with out the sense of entitlement that seems to be prevalent!

Welcome to Chazhound. There is a family feel here at Chaz but it take some time, so don't worry.

Oh I don't know... I think the mods defending you was nice. But since you asked... Welcome to the forum! I'd like to know more about your dog(s).

I don't think this forum has ever been one where people hide their feelings in an effort to be nice. I think we're a pretty tight knit group here, which may be part of the reason that we're not afraid to say what we mean. I know a lot of forums out there seem to be all about fake smiles and pats on the back, because everyone is so darn *scared* of saying what they want to say, or feel the forum will fall apart if they don't go with the flock and mimic the "ones in charge".

I suppose from my end, this is the only forum I'm on that I can be myself, say what I mean, and not be worried about being tarred and feathered for it. So yes, waking up Christmas morning to a cheery post mentioning changes to my favorite website (one that I have put a lot of time and effort into, helping people, making friends, etc.) got me a little spooked.

Giny is right - in time, there's a great family feel. But it takes time. Like the dog breed at the top of this forum (Chaz, the Doberman), I don't think we rush in and fawn... like with a Doberman, you must earn that respect. But once you've got it, you've got it! But... to echo it again... it takes time.

Good post.

And this forum is like a family. But like mentioned, it is like that because people can be themselves and say what's on their minds without the fear of "Am I going to be banned because I questioned a moderator/admin?". I've been on those forums...and I've been that person who has questioned an admin only to wake up the next day and find out I'm no longer a "welcomed member." And to boot, I got no explanation or reason for it.

Yes people are welcomed in with open arms, but let's use a different example. I LOVE my clinic where I work. It's owned by 1 of the vets who is married to 1 of the other vets thus I have 2 bosses. All the vets & vet techs & office staff are extremely close. Like family. If one day, out of the blue, some new vet walks in and states he is now the owner and things are going to change, but "gimme a hug!".....ummm, chances are we're just going to be too shocked and possibly upset to jump right on him and welcome him in. In that case, our entire lives would change. In this case, some people's lives will also change as they have come to rely on this forum and also rely on it's members. So I don't think people were being rude in any way, it's just this shocked people and we have so many questions that we want answered that those just came out first.

With that said, I also "welcome" you and I hope that while updating the forum to meet it's increasing needs, I also hope you keep it "old fashioned".

:)

Sizzle, I am not asking for preferential treatment. However, people "jumping off the deep end" about changes that haven't even happened yet is hardly merited!

I introduce myself, you introduce yourself... That's just common courtesy.

You will always be able to voice your opinion as I do not believe in censoring at all. I think most of you are under the impression that the "forum" is going to change. This is simply not the case.

I think that only time will ease the fear that the forum will not change..well as long as it doesn't change. lol ;)

Most people, me included, have been on other forums that were very active where a change of ownership did occur which resulted in the downfall of that site. I just hope it doesn't happen here. But you can't blame the ones who's gone through it before. Chaz is a great place and is so because of the way it is....nothing needs to change to improve it.

Oh and to introduce myself.
I'm Giny form Maine. Owner of 3 poodles, Kassie and Boomer who are toys, and Tilly who's a mini. And we also have a big white cat named Nemo.

I apologize, I misunderstood - I didn't see this is as an introduction thread.

I usually don't introcude myself to all newcomers, with the volume of new posters that show up daily that's really not an effective use of my time. People get to know me (and I them) by involvement and participation to the forum.

But since you asked: I'm female, I live in Iowa. I work for an insurance company, as well as a magazine called The Doberman Pinscher Magazine. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from Iowa State University, and minors in Photography and Religious Studies.

I have a fiance, three dogs, and a ball python. The dobes are from the same breeder, and are cousins. Ilsa is nearly 7, she's got her CGC and TDI. Ronin is 5, he also has his CGC and TDI. I got him at 20 months as a breeder rehome, and it took me nearly two years to help him through all of his issues, caused by the horrible people that had him before his breeder took him back. Ada is 2, no titles yet but I'm focusing more on the Dobermans. She is from a local working breeder. Sekai was a craigslist "rescue" who has gone from being less than 100g and poorly kept to being over 600g and very well cared for.

Oops. I forgot to introduce myself.

I am Miakoda. Or, well, Miakoda was one of my dogs, but I chose her name to be my screenname. I'm a registered/certified Vet Tech in the state of Louisiana, but right now I'm a stay-at-home mom to my 2 young boys. :D

I am an avid American Pit Bull Terrier owner/fancier. I love APBT history, love discussing them, and love having them. I've been through a lot with these dogs, but I will always own them and I will always fight for them.

I also own an Olde English Bulldogge, a Dogo Argentino (but don't tell him that...he thinks he's an APBT...shhhh!), and a Rottweiler (who unfortunately thinks she's a small, fluffy lap dog of sorts.......but feel free to let her know she's a 100 lb beast).

And I hope to one day be a Fila owner.....or be owned by a Fila.....however that goes. :p
