Well, welcome MeatyTreats.

I have to say I'm a bit nervous after this thread, simply because of your reaction posts... I don't generally warm up to someone that's calling my friends hostile and abusive. I wasn't too worried until I kept reading, and with every post you seem to be getting your back up more and more... which worries me about what kind of influence that will have on the forum as a whole.

Try to see things from our POV. We have a very close knit community, and far too many forums have gone down the pooper after a change of ownership. I for one have never seen it work out well. Combine that with a very sudden announcement with talk of change, and people are bound to be nervous. I hope that won't be the case here, and hope that in spite of getting off on the wrong foot things will work out for the better.
I love you Julia. I've read this thread twice now.. And I couldn't put into words how I felt. Apparently you read my mind and stole the words I couldn't come up with..

I was alright with it.. till each post by the new forum owner got a little more hostile.. Sure we can all leave it's our choice. But as has been pointed out members make a forum.. If you want to drive us all off that would be your choice..

No change isn't always bad.. But the way it comes across in this thread it isn't necessarily good either.

I hope the new ownership goes well, and the change is smooth... I also hope that when I come home from Basic Training, I'm not coming home to a completely new and unfamiliar Chazhound... I love it the way it is.

Good luck, MT. I hope its not going to be a huge deal the whole way through. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever ideas you have for us, and getting to know you and your furbabies.

I'm not sure what to think about it. I got a heads up on it when the site was sold, but didn't think much of it.

I am happy that the site is on a better server, but new toys does not sound good to me.

It is nice to see that you(MeatyTreats) have been lurking around the forums for a long time before you bought the site and for that I welcome you to Chaz and hope you have a good time here.

I will be sticking around to see what the changes are, I don't care if the ad's are there or not because i don't see them anyways.

While I am apprehensive about the changes, I am eager to get to know you and your dog :)
I hope you do put some weight to our concerns about this. We as a community need to be heard. Perhaps, before you implement changes you could have a thread talking about them and get our feedback... I think that would satisfy most of us. If we had a bit of control as well... well maybe control wasnt the right word but if we had some say about these changes you plan to make... yeah thats what I want to say. lol.

Anyways... thats my idea about how to make the transition a smoother ride for everyone.

BUT....

I do have a problem with the way you have handled this thread so far MT.... You have to be patient with us and try to understand where we are coming from when we voice our concerns. We LOVE chazhound now and are not going to accept someone taking over and making changes without giving US as a community the respect we deserve. I feel we should have been told about the change of ownership before now... but what's done is done, its time to move on. Calling us abusive and disrespectful was NOT right and was downright disrespectful on your part. Nobody came on here saying "NO I WONT STAND FOR THIS" or "NO THIS IS STUPID"... they spoke of their concerns and what they DO and DON'T want to happen.... I feel you should listen to them instead of insulting them. So far I have seen you take the community's feedback and dismiss it.... not a very good start.

Please... I hope you keep us informed and listen to our feedback :)

Welcome to Chaz!

When will you let us know what the changes are going to be anyway.

For some reason this seems pretty secretive.

I've read through the thread a few times and debated whether my input was really even needed, but I'm going to throw in my two cents anyways. Meaty treats, welcome, first of all. The negative posts were not made as personal insults to you. We've just grown to love this forum, and we're a bit wary of change. We've seen big changes destroy forums before, and you've not yet told us what changes you are planning on making.

Though I only joined early this year, I've become very attached and loyal to Chaz, Lynn, and this forum. I'm not going to hate you because you've taken over, though. Not in the least. However, you have not handled yourself very well so far. People simply stated their opinions, mainly that they are worried about what changes you are planning to make, and you became very hostile. You said we feel entitled. IMO, you are the one who seems to feel entitled. In one of your posts, you spoke of how we should be so grateful to you. Yes, the site is free, which I am very happy about. However, as was stated previously, the reason people pay to put their ads here is because of us. Because we have such a great community here on Chaz, making this a very popular forum. You play a very important part, but so do we. So, please don't act like WE are feeling so entitled simply because we want you to take our opinions into consideration.

That being said, I hope that things work out for you here. It takes time to earn the respect and affection of this community. Please just join in our conversations, make yourself known, and give everyone a chance to care about you as much as we have come to care about each other.

This post was made out of courtesy for the members. I did not have to post anything about the change in ownership. Yes, I would prefer to stay in the background and let things stay as they were. However, the negativity that was created from a simple FYI has astounded me.

Last time I checked, this site is FREE! However, it takes a lot of time & money to keep it running smoothly. This seems to have escaped most people. There seems to be a sense entitlement here. Like you are owed something.

And now you have a new owner who's invested in a new server, hosting and other things to keep the site FREE that actually cost money! I came in here to keep everyone in the know and all I get is abuse. Like I have done something to deserve this?
I started reading through this thread prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt, however, you are proving with every post you make that you are not good news.

It might escape you that without members there is no forum on which to put ads.

Your attitude is inappropriate and tiresome.

I hope to see more of the spirit that Mayas and MyHorse just exhibited. That's the kind of reasonable reaction that will make this work from our side of the screen :)

And, way back on post #10, Red . . . now that was inappropriate and far beneath what I expect of you.

Huh? Way I saw it, Lucille asked for a way to stay in contact with Red, and Red left her website. What's wrong with that?

Also, agreeance with what most folks have said here, in terms of a tight-knit community and wary of changes. Can you share what your plans are for the site please? No surprises. We should talk this out like the community that we are. :)

Look, you're all entitled to feel however you want to feel and to express your concerns. You probably aren't feeling anything much different than I or any of the other mods felt at first.

The best way to ensure that OUR forum remains what we've built it to be is to keep being the family we've always been, keep treating people they way we always have - giving them a chance, even a second and third chance sometimes when things don't start out so well. There are a lot of members here who have become part of the heart and soul of Chazhound who didn't start off very well, some who have even spent some time out and come back and have benefited from the forgiving nature of Chazhound (the forum as a whole), and Chazhound has benefited from them in return.

All you ever get from showing your ass is being exposed, and that goes for EVERYONE, members, mods, admins, owners. And we've all been guilty of it, and will, I'm sure, be again.

Yes, it would have been better had this been announced immediately, but that's not the case in most transactions of this nature. Most places don't have the kind of relationships that we do here. Let's not ruin that ourselves. The nature and tone of Chazhound is, in reality, dependent on the members.

For the record: I like being exposed (showing my ass)... its better than hiding...

I would rather people be exposed... I dont like people that hide things from people that they supposedly care about, nor do I like people that hide how they really feel

I'm not, Nolu. I'm only hoping you will not shame yourselves by the manner in which you express them. I've made a lot of claims about the kind of real, loyal, passionate, intelligent and open-minded people you are; don't make a liar out of me.

I think your comment to Red counts as attempting to shame her, and I don't think it was warranted. That was my point.

And other than that, I'm really not sure what to say to you - everybody f*cks up sometimes.

What most of us are loyal for a reason, the reason being someone gave a reason for being that way..

Not the smart-ass answers below

Maybe we should start over! This time with out the sense of entitlement that seems to be prevalent!
I introduce myself, you introduce yourself... That's just common courtesy.

and no you didnt introduce yourself until someone said something about making a thread and then you finally made one

and last I checked I was a member (a long standing one too) so yeah I do feel in a sense that Im entitled to something, and owed something....a little tidbit of something...I dont care what it is, but I am...

All I have to say is if you want the new owner to take your requests and concerns seriously you might want to try being a bit more polite. I think everyone has concerns and that is understandable but I think this thread has taken a turn from expressions of concern to just flat out frustration and animosity.

I mean if you want your team to win you don't go to the game and boo the refs ;)
