that is what someone said to me today!?!?
i was out in the freezing cold weather today walking my pups ( it was like 15F) and i had someone walk up to me and look at my pup who is a German Shepard Lab mix, thunder weighs aprox. 55lbs, he is extremely active and spends anywhere from 3 to 4 hours per day running in the back yard chasing Cinni ( she is a lab/whippet mix, he only eats 2 times per day and he is not even 6 months old yet..
i was so taken back by this, so, i called my family vet and asked if he was getting to big to fast, he said that since he is still a puppy, he will have 'puppy fat' on him so he will have a little bit of a belly, but, once he grows up, it will go away, also, he said that in the winter pups ( and dogs) gain more weight in the winter ( they store more fat) so, it is not abnormal to see a dog look heavy in the winter.
i hate in when people look at a pup and assume that are overweight/underweight, to small too big, etc... some people.
