LOL likely breeder, aka me. We are pretty inundated with dogs at the moment. But if I breed Dekka next year... (and if I can't keep one of those, then I will make sure a couple of the pups go on a breeding contract so hopefully one will suitable for breeding and I will have a Dekklette)

We're good with 3 dogs now and hopefully this won't be a decision we'll have to make within lots and lots of years so it's kind of difficult to predict what we'll do.

The way my mind is set at the moment I'd love to go with a purebred rescue, but who knows what could happen later on in life. So often our animals seem to have chosen us instead of us choosing them.

Nominal plan is a purebred Cardigan Corgi from a breeder. But I don't rule out a rescue (of a number of breeds) or a mix. We'll see what life brings.

I voted recue from a shelter, but it would br a purebred from a shelter. Thatsm where I got my girl and where I will get another one.

Right now, I am looking at a couple of breeders, knowing that it will be at least another year before I am ready for a second dog.

Having said that, if the right dog comes along in my friend's rescue, I wouldn't turn it away. It's harder for me to go rescue now than it was with Meg, because I think I'm going to need to go with a young puppy (under 4 months) for her sake, and I'm not sure I trust myself to be able to read such a young puppy for the traits I want. I'm much more comfortable picking out an adult dog! I figure if I go with a breeder, I may get more help in that department.

Dunno.

I wouldn't turn the right rescue down, (ie: a nice easygoing well-socialized dog. ie: NOT another Zaphod) but I'm thinking I want a puppy or young adult from a breeder next time around. Not sure when that'll be, might not be for 4-5 years.

I'd like my next dog to be a large, strong dog with a short coat, a fearless temperament and with potential to be a service dog. I'm seriously considering Dobermans and Great Danes, but the health problems in both breeds frighten me.

And there could always be another working Border Collie. If I could get a pup out of Eve in a few years I'd be really pleased with that.

I've had really bad luck with dogs from rescues (aside from Winston) so my next dog will more than likely be from a breeder. Not that I have anything against adopting dogs, but I just feel more comfortable with breeders at the moment.

Im really undecided. I have found two great Clumber Spaniel breeders who I have been talking to since summer. Since I won't be getting a puppy for anouther year and a half I have plenty of time to decide. I KNOW im getting a Clumber no questions about it. I have considered rescues and still am. My original plan is to get a Clumber puppy to raise and show. But if I see a Clumber in a shelter when I have the means to get one. I would probley get the shelter dog and put off my puppy for a later date.

I don't know it could go either way.

I said purebred from breeder, but if my next dog ends up being a Malinois I want an adult, so whether it be an adult from a breeder or an adult through rescue I won't be too picky as long as it can work.

My answer is identical, right down to the breed. I want a dog that is fairly young, but already an adult. I will be looking for either a rescue or a retired/"rejected" show dog.

I voted breeder. There is just no way I'd be able to find the kind of cavalier I want from a shelter here.

We are still unsure about what our next dog will be. We will most likely end up with a large breed dog once we get a house built/settled. We are still doing research on the following large dogs: Dobies, Filas, Mastiffs, and Rotts. Considering the types of dogs we are looking at I'm sure he/she will come from a breeder.

As soon as we get settled into our house we are going to start fostering tho.

I'll be a loooong time from now, I'm sure, but I put "not sure, maybe a purebred rescue." I'd love to get my next dog from American Black and Tan Coonhound Rescue. They've always got LOTS of dogs of all ages, from puppies to adults, so if I do want another black and tan, it'll probably be from there.

definitely breeder. It'll be one of two breeds, one being the one I already have. The other breed is uncommon so breeder is the choice I made.
