A mutt: Always!!

A fila: as long as we can find one from good lines... it seems to be a bit harder now than when it was when we got Bella. :(

While I would one day like to own another Rottweiler, I don't know if it's the highest on my list.

And I love my Dogo, but finding a reputable, working breeder in this area is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

I actually am ready to branch out and go with a different mastiff breed and give it a shot. :D

As for the APBTs, the term "Forever and Always" sums it up. Sometimes the DA gets on my nerves, but I just remember that it's a whole package. And it's the rest of that package that I cannot live without. To me, it's their souls. It's their hearts. To me, they are the best of the best all rolled into one dog.

While I so sometimes feel like I am swimming against the flow in the fight for BSL, I cannot and will not stop. These dogs have done nothing wrong and in many cases have done everything for their owners. I could never abandon them to be slaughtered. They have given me their all. Now it's time for me to give them mine.

Cockers - I wish to always have a cocker in my life. :)

English Pointer - no, I'll never likely own one again. One would have to be in rescue and really pull at my heartstrings, but most likely I'd take in as a foster and rehome it.

English Springer Spaniels - love them dearly, but in the future I'd be VERY VERY careful before adopting one. Too much rage and aggression popping up.

English Setters - Spook has made me fall in love with them. In the future, I would consider owning another ES. :)

"Pit bulls" - haven't actually owned one, but did foster one. I would consider owning one in the future, but would be very careful to avoid dog aggression. I plan and hope to do a lot of fostering and would have a multiple dog home, and although I've met some wonderful dog aggressive pits, I'd steer clear from it.

Mutt - (didn't own, but trained her in agility and loved as my own) I love mutts, will likely own handfuls. :)

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever - (didn't own, but trained in agility and loved her as my own - RIP Tusket) I likely will not find one in rescue or shelters, so it is not likely that I'd own one in the future. But I certainly have nothing against them, especially one like Tusket was.

Border Collie - (didn't own, but trained in agility and loved her as my own) Very high energy typically, so it is not likely. But, if I found a more reserved and laid back BC in rescue, or even could find a place in my home for 'normal' it is possible that I'd adopt an older BC.

There will always be a Lab or Lab mix in our lives. Considering the attraction we have to them, I'd say there's a chance we'll have another Siberian or Sibe mix some day, too.

Dalmatians~ like Miakoda said "forever and always" pretty much sums it up.
A husky/GSD mix~ Probably not, I'm sure I could find the same mix, but not the same dog. And no more hairy dogs.
Someday I "might" branch out and get another breed.

Aussies--OF COURSE. Full or mix (depending on the mix), I will ALWAYS have an Aussie.

Lab--highly doubtful. There's a lot I like about them, but there's even more I'd rather do without. But I've learned my lesson about saying "never"...I NEVER was going to have a Lab before Virgo came and turned everything on it's ear. It would have to be an extra super-duper special dog though...I won't go looking for one.

Shelter mutt--yup. Will have one again at some point.

Yes,I will always have a dachshund in my life! :) I do want to try another variety though. I want a chocolate dapple, or an Isabella and tan. And I do want a longhaired or wirehaired ween!

There's no getting away from the breeds I have now, I don't think! Another Dobe of my own might have to wait quite a while depending on living situations and whatnot... but there's no denying that there will be another one in my life. A red girl I hope. And Tollers, well, I couldn't even imagine not having such a breed in my life. I absolutely love them, and I know that I'll have plenty more... life would be pretty boring without them!

That said, there are other breeds I'd like to try. Whether it'll ever happen or not, I can't say for certain. But I hope to have a Border Collie, a Belgian, and a Leonberger at some point... among a couple others. I'll probably have a mutt of sorts someday too.

Though there are some other breeds that I would love to own in the future, I am completely dedicated to the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog and couldn't imagine not having at least 2 in my house.

Oddly, if, for some reason, I couldn't have an APBT, I'd want a Toller for my "little dog." :)

Your Tango won my heart, and then Dance, and Spring is working the magic too :)

doxies never liked the breed, thanks to my neighbor's unruly doxies....but when one was in need of a home, no matter what breed, from a chihuahua to a pit bull, I would give a dog a home...and since Princess has been in my life, I think I have found a breed I cannot live without now.

I never had a 'breed'...all my dogs were not planned breeds I had in mind, just dogs in need of a home, though I would love a bull terrier one day and maybe a french bulldog, rescues of course....I do want to rescue more doxies in the future, and I have yet to had a breed of dog that has caught my interest like doxies.

Although my heartdog was a rat terrier, the breed itself is not for me....Didi was one of a kind.

Doxies are awesome, they don't shed, hardly have to groom them, goofy, and are just grand in general....I would love to own a black/tan dapple and chocolate/tan dapple one day....those have caught my eye.

bichons and shih tzus....naw. The grooming is something I can life without, but I love my dogs, just not the grooming.

Labrador - No. I don't plan on having one again anytime in the near future. Maybe far down the road when I move down to Florida by the ocean, I may adopt an elderly Lab from the shelter..but not for the next 20 years, I won't own a Lab again.

Boxer - Yes, most definetly. I would own one again, but I'd like to have a few different breeds before having another Boxer. And when I do get another Boxer, I would get a high quality AKC pup to show, possibly crop the ears, as well...

A Cutedor Springer Pointer?

No. They're a pretty rare breed. I don't think I'd find one again.

Also, I would like a dog with brains next time around. That is very uncommon in CSPs.

Brains in a dog are much overrated. I'll let you have Ares so you can see for yourslef just how much trouble a dog with a brain can get himself into. ;)

Cavaliers are a breed that will stay with me forever. I'm still open to other breeds obviously, especially the finnish lapphund, but I will always have a cav in my house.

Such a good post...so heart-felt. The bold part made me *sniff, sniff* and tear up. Your love for these dogs comes through strongly with your words. Beautiful.

And Sillysally....I loved your post...so good.

Well...I have Chihuahuas and I most likely would get another two after they're gone. I really love the breed and for anyone afraid of stepping on them, you don't have to worry too terribly much. You learn within about a week to watch out without even consciously thinking about it...you just glance down automatically before you step out....and they really learn to watch themselves around swift moving human feet. After all, they're just about at eye level. :D Of course, occassional accidents happen but I don't think it's as huge a problem as people make it out to be.

I love Chihuahuas' spunk, (sauciness) their affectionate and loving personalities to their owners and anyone they're well socialized to and their playful antics, the funny contortions they make. They're very entertaining and endearing little dumplings.

I also think about the possibility of branching out and trying a breed I've never had before but admire. And one other thought is a poodle...not sure which size. I'm not so sure about the need to groom/clip them because I'm generally not into that. But they're smart, sweet and attentive dogs.

And it's more than probable that I would choose a poodle mix or Chi mix from a shelter or rescue next time. Maybe a min pin or a manchester terrier. Hmmm....so many ideas. But Chis almost certainly.

Catahoula - I am absolutely amazed with Misty. She's by far the best dog I've ever had. Not sure if that's her breed, or just the extra time I was able to spend with her.

Pit/lab/aussie shep mix - Well it's doubtful I'd find the exact same mix, but I have no problems with mutts. I think just about any dog can turn out well with the proper training from a young age. I didn't have as much time to spend with Abby as she was growing as I have with Misty, but I'm sure if I had she'd be a much more well behaved dog than she is now.
