No, see, you did ask the right people. We're the ones telling you the things you NEED to know, not what you WANT to hear.

You asked everyone here if you would be considered a BYB, saying you didn't think so and that you took some sort of test. When people answered saying that you did not fill the criteria to be a responsible breeder, you say you're going to do it anyway.

Regardless of if you're a troll or not, I'll treat this as something serious, and let you know that you are extremely ignorant, and that reading a book does not mean you are knowledgable about anything.

LOL. I was absolutely convinced that this was a joke. So the OP is serious! She should seriously give up the career prospect of breeding unwanted puppies from untested dogs and take up writing comedy for a living. I mean who seriously writes 'I read a book once.' to demonstrate knowledge of a subject?

This has got to be a troll.

I'm still not convinced this is serious. "I read a book once." COME ON. If that is this person's TRUE idea of knowledge, then in all honesty nothing we could say would probably help them...

I read a book once about neurosurgery Dogplayaz- if you ever need a brain surgeon, you know who to come talk to! (I doubt I'd honestly do that much harm...) :D

It's a troll.

Guys,if this person is serious then by the way you acted he will not listen to anything you say, I mean seriously you basically just made fun of him without helping at all, now the OP is going to breed these dogs for no reason, with little to no knowledge because you scared him away. He looked at the sticky about breeding and believes he meets all the criteria. now hoping that he comes back, let's KINDLY explain why this person is a BYB and what he would need to do not to be a BYB.

7) I will participate in breed rescue, if i can't sell them, i'll give mine to them with papers, how's that for participation.
Yeah...uh, run that by your local Lab rescue and see what they tell you.

If you REALLY want to better the breed, and give people a chance to love labs, spay and neuter the ones you have and help rescue clean up the messes other BYB's have made.

I will have to go with the others, and Labs are not hyber, they are very entergetic. And have a lot of stamina!

I have 2 Purebred Labs, 1 Male and 1 Female, they have all their test performed (CERF,OFA etc.) i was thinking of breeding them since i have many interested in them. I checked the "Good" breeder checklist and i believe i qualify.

1) Knowledge--i have intense knowledge of the Lab, i read a book once.
2) Tests: they have all there test, not sure what some are for, but i got em.
3) Something about old dogs in the yard, i don't have any old dogs, just my two who are 2 years old, so i'm good there.
4) I only have 1 kind of breed i'd like to breed, the 2 i have.
5) Pet references- I figure i have to sell some first before i can get a reference, but they can talk to my vet, he'll tell you i'm an honest Gal.
6) Dogs would be let go at 8 weeks
7) I will participate in breed rescue, if i can't sell them, i'll give mine to them with papers, how's that for participation.
8) Temperment: They are loving and hyper, and wouldn't hurt a soul, so i know there good there.
9) The checklist said i should have a goal, my goal is to give other people the chance to love Labs and of course my other goal...the allmighty dollar.

I think that covers it for the checklist, so by all accounts i'm reputable. I would hate to be called a BYB because i am "bettering" the breed and the people that do decide they want one will be screened. Please be candid with your posts i want to be a good breeder here, but with all the info i posted how can i not be? Opinions are welcome. Thank you.

I think you have an excellent bases started here. Maybe look at getting into some sort of showing, tracking, field trials...something to get a few titles on your dogs. This would show that are capable of doing what they were bred to do. Really the best titling for labs is field trials because they were bred to retrieve for hunters so that type of titling shows they do what they were bred to do.

Find a really good mentor and let them guide you as forums really are not the place to educate yourself.

Proof:

How many of those top notch breeders are active on forums?

NONE

Actually quite a few excellent breeders are active on forums.

Although I agree it's not a great place to find a mentor.

As for the OP....
