I have 2 Purebred Labs, 1 Male and 1 Female, they have all their test performed (CERF,OFA etc.) i was thinking of breeding them since i have many interested in them. I checked the "Good" breeder checklist and i believe i qualify.
1) Knowledge--i have intense knowledge of the Lab, i read a book once.
2) Tests: they have all there test, not sure what some are for, but i got em.
3) Something about old dogs in the yard, i don't have any old dogs, just my two who are 2 years old, so i'm good there.
4) I only have 1 kind of breed i'd like to breed, the 2 i have.
5) Pet references- I figure i have to sell some first before i can get a reference, but they can talk to my vet, he'll tell you i'm an honest Gal.
6) Dogs would be let go at 8 weeks
7) I will participate in breed rescue, if i can't sell them, i'll give mine to them with papers, how's that for participation.
8) Temperment: They are loving and hyper, and wouldn't hurt a soul, so i know there good there.
9) The checklist said i should have a goal, my goal is to give other people the chance to love Labs and of course my other goal...the allmighty dollar.
I think that covers it for the checklist, so by all accounts i'm reputable. I would hate to be called a BYB because i am "bettering" the breed and the people that do decide they want one will be screened. Please be candid with your posts i want to be a good breeder here, but with all the info i posted how can i not be? Opinions are welcome. Thank you.
