I personally like the docked tail on a rottie. I have to constantly look out for Brutes tail. I am always worried about slamming it in the car door.
The one advantage to having a dogs ears cropped. They don't get ear infections.

Y'know... Why is this subject brought up and argued so often? Don't people have more important things to protest, like.. say, puppy mills? People who abuse animals?

I don't know how some people can look at the abuse going on out there and still say that people who have these surgeries done by a reputable vet are being CRUEL to their dogs. These dogs are fine, they shouldn't be going through hell because of a well-done ear crop. Perhaps those who so strongly support the ban of cropping and docking should direct their attention elsewhere - where it's NEEDED. Jmo.

I personally don't have a problem with cropping or docking, I have seen both procedures done many times. It's tradition and part of the breeds heritage. My Beaucerons both have cropped ears, and the most painful part was removing the stiches.

If you have a problem with cropping/docking why not neutering and spaying? Because having a dogs reproductive organs removed certinly isn't "leaving them as God made them"

I think spay/neuter surgeries are far more painful then a crop/dock.

The only time I have a problem with either is when it's done at home by an idiot with a rubber band or a kitchen knife.

I dont have a problem with docking working dogs and dew claw removel, but i do think its pointless in cross breeds, as for cropping its illigal here so its not something we ever see done, i have only seen pics of the after care and all i can say is it looks very uncomfortable for the dog and apart from the fact that it helps with ear infections I really dont see the point
