It takes more faith to believe in evolution, the big bang theory, than it does to believe the Creator commanded things to be and they were.

Remember, science is mostly theory, built upon supposition labelled as truth or fact. Those facts are yet to be proved.

God created humankind in His own image, meaning intelligence, soul and a mind to think. Saint Paul, in Romans, reminds us that even nature points to the existence of God, and a fool has said in his heart there is no God.

The church is neither a path to heaven nor an escape from hell. It is simply a place of worship and fellowship. Seek you the Lord whilst He may be found.............the day is coming when it will be too late. We come to God through the love displayed on the cross, and not through any fear that man may put before us.

Cheers,

Jim

I think I am lucky (actually blessed is a better word) to be raised by a Christian family. It's nice to know that I've got someone who thinks I'm amazing and loves me unconditionally - Jesus Christ. I might not be able to see Him, but once or twice I've had this feeling in my heart that He's saying something to me.

"You are my strength when I am weak
you are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking you like a precious jewel
Lord to give up I'd be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus lamb of God
Holy is your name (2x)

Taking my cross my sin my shame
raising again I praise your name
you are my all in all
When I fall down you pick me up
when I run dry you fill my cup
You are my all in all"

i am a christian however due to my church being rather conservative and tailored to the elderly i have a VERY hard time enjoying myself there. I find myself closer to God when working with animals actually than when attending my church. However other churches that tailor more to their youth I enjoy myself very much.

Not really.

Born and raised Presbyterian but it was due to upbringing - not a genuine belief in anything in particular. I felt is was more honest to not be a part of that as I got older.

However, there's a lot of great values that I have now that stem from my exposure to christianity and in spite of the fact I don't follow any religion, I carry a great respect for it's teachings related to being kind, honest and up-front. I also carry a great respect for other people's personal beliefs....much the way I expect that respect in turn.

After I " graduated " from Sunday School ( 10 t'il 11) and then on to church to hear our terrible minister rant on for an hour.... I went to early morning services...just prayers, communion and quietness....( 8 t'il 9 ).

i'm agnostic! I would like to believe that there is a God. And I admire people that have a faith, and can believe unquestionably!! I also think people with faith are very lucky as it can be a great help in times of trouble.

I'm not someone that discusses politics or religion to people in general...but did anyone ever read the 3 book series by Neale Donald Walsch, entitled Conversations with God? I thought they were interesting..a little different for some traditional teachings. I enjoyed book 1 the most. :)

I'm with you, yoko. Non-denominational all the way. Man has set the "church" up like a "corporation". Shouldn't be that way. We are all the same. No matter the color, the culture, etc. We are all God's children and he loves us all. It's just up to us whether to "love back" in whatever religion we choose...

Ditto, exactly.

I would love to have the faith that some of the people I know have - I'd love to fully believe that there is a God out there, watching over me, but I just have trouble with it.. I'm trying to learn more about different religions, but so far it all comes down to the same thing - faith. And I just don't have it.

Some days I really do feel confident that there is a God, and other days there is nothing but doubt in my mind. Maybe I don't know enough, I'm just such a skeptic that I have trouble putting my total faith (I mean, you more or less devote your life to your religion - that is a HUGE decision.) in something that I don't know exists.

I'm open minded about all religions and beliefs, I like to hear about people's beliefs, because it gives me just one more thing to think about. :)

I'm with Rip's Girl: I find myself feeling closer to God when I'm outdoors and/or working with animals. I think that's Transcendentalism? Something like that? It's been a *very* rough day and I can't keep my -isms straight.

I think if the churches would just step back and make a return to their roots, everyone would be better off. Love, peace and happiness, Jesus was the original hippie! :) Ohh..for some fun sometime, go tell people that Jesus was a liberal (he really was). You can just about see the steam under their collars.
