I tend to talk about Marlowe more. He's my heart dog. I don't know what it is about that dog but he's definitely *mine* and Conrad has always been more "ours". I'm the one who found Mar at the shelter and had to lobby DH to be able to adopt him. I'm the one who has trained him, 100%. I feel like we just understand each other and he's just my idea of a dream dog.
It's not like I never talk about Conrad though. I love that guy but he's not the most easy dog in the world to live with. He's got separation anxiety, he's leash reactive with other dogs, he's not real happy about kids, he's fearful and guardy and cranky. He's also absolutely in looooove with us, very quiet, handler-focused and able to parse commands like, "Conrad, you're really irritating me, go over there and lay down and hang on for a second." We really screwed up training him though back in the bad old days when we didn't know what the heck we were doing, so he's got some quirks. So when I talk about Conrad it's usually in the context of asking for or giving advice about what to do with a problem dog.
