Hmmm well there is this store called All Creatures Great and Small that I frequent :D
That sounds like an awesome store!

It varies. For a while we only bought food at independent dog/cat food stores that only sold good food and a little variety of dog toys. Then when Canidae changed, we went to a different independent food store.

Now we buy dry food from Tractor Supply. I buy my Raw at local grocery stores.

Leads and toys differ. I buy all my leather leads from Ren (OC_Spirit here), rolled leather collars from Petsmart and since Jeffer's warehouse is local I buy alot from there. I also shop at Dog.com, Ella's Leads, and a few other random places.

I get their kibble from a livestock feed store. They seem to be the best place for decent priced good quality food. Miles eats raw so where ever there is a good deal. I'd feed the boys raw too but they do well on kibble unlike Miles who looses weight and I can't afford to feed all three raw right now. And if I can't afford to feed one of my big guys raw neither gets it. I feel kind of bad but I tend to treat them as one dog, not as two. :p

Raw feeder so my food comes from hunters mostly since I prefer wild meat. But I do buy chicken and organ meats. as for the veggies I buy produce past the shelf life, or on sale mostly but I make up enough for a long time and freeze in containers. I buy the eggs , yogurt and cottage cheese as needed.

Well, since I don't have a dog,... but I do have a cat. All supplies I've gotten are from Pet Planet (I work at their daycare, anyways.) Unfortunately, the store I work at doesn't sell cat supplies.. so I buy from a retail location I used to work at (still, Pet Planet.) It's a relatively small company, has 20 or maybe 21 stores, and it's a very ethical store, does not sell any animals. Sells healthy Kibble, raw, supplements, toys.

When I buy kibble it's from Ryan's Global Pet Food.. No animals of any type are sold there. I occasionally go into Petsmart for random things, never food. I hit up Pet Supply House and Ren's for harder to come by stuff.

TSC Its my new target:p

I sometimes get kirklands instead of the plain diamond stuff at tsc but its a drive to get to costco. The stuff at tsc is more expensive but its right here and the dogs like it better to.

***did not read entire thread, this is in reply to the OP only***

Dry Food/Canned Rabbit & Tripe= Independent Store(There are 3 that I go to depending on my mood)

Raw Food=Grocery Store

Treats/Toys/anything else=Petsmart/Petco/Indpendent Store(3 as above).

The independent stores that I like are all by my house, Petsmart is by my job. The indpendent stores by me are all against petco/petsmart and they're willing to match or beat their prices. If I feel like it, I'll bring a print out of what I want with the price. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassel though, so I either deal with the few dollars, or just buy it from petsmart/petco.

I get my dog and cat food from costco. And no, of course they don't sell animals!

Lucy's innova comes from a privately owned dog health store (They only sell high quality/premium dog foods.)

I haven't supported a pet store that sells animals for over a year now, and never will again. (Stopped once I saw PetSmart's practices when I worked there for 6 months)

I order my rabbit and reptile food online.

The biggest pain is my rats/hamster's aspen shavings. I had to look all over a place that sells larger bags (grocery stores here just carry icky pine and cedar, no aspen). But I finally found a feed store that carries large bags of it.

i get fish food from an aquatics supply store that does sell fish (But thats all they deal with).

Collars/leashes, clothes, random grooming items, whatever usually come from Walmart, and if I can't find something I need I order it online.

I get cat litter from Costco.

i get toys for all of them from many, many places. I make them myself out of various objects, I get them from Walmart, online, thrift stores, etc.

Western Feed, for most of my store-bought food and treats. They have good prices and good products. They do occasionally sell a few pet bunnies and chicks, but they are from local farms, and extremely well cared for... so I don't mind.

I also go to "dog boutiques", called Sbarkles and Bark Avenue. Both are very much mom & pop style and we know each other by name. I don't usually buy food or treats there because they are drastically over-priced. However, they have the BEST collars, leashes, accessories and toys around. ; )

Peewee and Ivan get their food from various grocery stores, friends and family with freezer burned meat. During the summer they get their veggies from local farm markets.
The cat she gets her food from walmart and what ever she can catch.
The cockatiels get their food at meijers.
The senegals get theirs at Petsmart.
The rabbit a local feed store.

We get their home cooked ingredients from the same grocery our food comes from, their Diamond Naturals from Tractor supply, most everything else comes from Brandt's Old Fashioned Feed-N-Seed in Michigan City.

Tractor supply sometimes has bunnies for sale..........I think it's because of 4-H, though I don't know. Brandt's has a small attached bird shop (Rhonda's Roost) where they have parakeets, love birds, canaries, parrots, etc and all the supplies you need for them. That's where we get Marty's pellets, seeds, and most of his toys.

I would say that 95% of our pet spending goes to the above listed places..........the other 5% goes to petsmart or Amazon.com for various toys/supplies we can't get or find at our local shops :)

Hey AC is Marty as picky with the type and size of pellets as Toby and Cleo?
Oh god yes! He came to me with really fat pellets, supposedly from Petsupply plus. When he ran out, I couldn't find a match. I got the best pellets they had at Rhonda's Roost.......they were smaller than what he had been eating. He wouldn't touch them

I even left them, and them alone in his dish all the first day and part of the next........I know he was VERY hungry, but he wouldn't eat them. I had to mix them in with his seeds little by little until he accepted them!

Very picky birds these amazons, and they don't deal with change all that well do they? LOL
