I'm with ACD

pugs
english bulldogs
boxers
goldens
labs
chows
boston terriers
poms
poodles
most little dogs with the exception of JRT's, silky's and maltese or mixes of those
Akita
toller
min pins
beagles
mastiffy breeds (okay, i do like them but their not for me.)
Pyrs
Bernese Muntain Dogs
St Bernard

I don't really dislike any dogs, but i can get easily frustrated with low energy or low drive dogs.
Just curious how many tollers are in Aus?

I don't think there is a breed that I could say I hate. I didn't like mini poodles, but my mother in law has one, and she's cute and friendly. Way undertrained too, you can see how smart she is but isn't getting any real obedience.

There are many dogs I wouldn't have though. Pretty much any toy breed, though I do enjoy our pug. He's playful and robust and hangs right in there with the big guys. I don't think I'd have a Bouvier after seeing the ones at our working club. They'd be way too much grooming. Any dog that needs constant attention like that is off the list. Things like dalmations, setters, spanials- not my kind of dog either.

I also forgot, I'm not a big fan of spaniels either, except the toy spaniels. (Which is odd because I have two spaniels right now, but papillons don't look all that spaniel-y to me... but there ya have it)

But like BP, there'd be no way I'd turn down a dog of any breed, and I really think I could work with just about anything. You just won't ever see me around shopping for a terrier (except maybe a Border, I like those) or an Eskie.

I have to say that there is no dog breed that I wouldn't be interested in...living with them would depend upon life circumstances at that time. I do truly mean that. Now, for those who said no labs...I am amazed! My Traveler is soooooo wonderful--not in your face, actually listens, and just plain wants to please you. Guesss I got lucky!! And for scent hounds...well, I do love them--but see where others wouldn't!! Even still, just have to post this...

We are LOVEABLE! ;)

My list of "less desired" breeds is pretty short- I'm not a fan of the brachio-cephalic breeds, with two exceptions-I love the attitude of a Peke, and the freespirit of a Chin. The rest I wouldn't seek out.

Overall, I'm not a fan of retrievers. But I'd never turn down a dog in need.

I'd never have a Cocker Spaniel again (fostered three of them... just not the dog for me), and I'd never have a Shar-Pei or Chow.

American Eskimos. Just have had bad experiences with them.
a perfect example of why people shouldn't judge soley on breed:

American Eskimos may be one of my least favorite breed of dog, ever. I've met a handful, and most have been downright nasty, others have been very aloof, and frankly, i haven't seen all that many attractive looking ones.

That being said, i grew up with an eskie. This dog was the complete and total opposite of the eskie sterotype. He was the best dog i ever knew, and i can't imagine meeting a dog better than him. He just sensed what you wanted, and complied.

Anywayyyyy. I tend to stray from the more aloof breeds. Chows, Akitas, etc. I love love love the look of the northern breeds, huskies, mals, but i wouldn't own one. They're nice enough dogs, just not what i want in a dog.

well i seem to own breeds that people dont tend to like, a spaniel and 4 toys (3 chis and a crested)
whihc i find kinda funny cause i wouldnt live without my little pack of trouble lol.

hmm, breeds i "dont like" and ill place this in the mix, by dont like i particularly mena breeds id never own for my own reasons, not that i truly dislike them for anythign other thna not being for me.

most terriers...Cresteds and chihauhuas are as "terrier like" as im willing to go...they just dont work for me.
labs and goldens...i dont know why realy...
beagles...actually most scent hounds...we just dont get along lol.

For me it would have to be any sighthounds. I like them but just not the dogs for me.Also the Bully breeds again like them and have owned them so I have known some that I just love but not the dogs for me.Saying that I would not turn away any dog that needed a home because of breed.

I'm not a big fan of small breeds, breeds with pushed in faces, breeds that are real skinny (though some I like, some I don't), most of the breeds with long flowing hair I do not like nor do I like most mastiff's. Not that I despise any, they just aren't breeds I'm usually attracted to. :p

I like that, you say it's insulting but then you go on to say which dog you "hate" lol :p Kinda contradictory! :p lol

Don't take offense to that though, I just thought it was a funny thing to do. :p
it was about to come out sooner or later

Small flat faced breeds. I have been around some and a few I know are super smart I just can't take it when they pant. I do like the larger flat faced breeds, not sure why.

Neapolitan Mastiffs and Sher-peis are not in my favorites either. Thats about it.

My grandmother had a couple Eskies when I was growing up and they just rocked. They were Standards though, not the Minis and everything else I've met since then has been a very ill-tempered Mini. I was going to get one before I got Sawyer but checking the "today" version of them turned me off.

I've always said I will never willingly seek out a Lab to get and that's true. Yet Virgo is coming back to me and she's a Lab...but not quite your "today's typical" Lab.

I don't think I would have a dog with short double coat (husky, Chow, Akita) plus I like something that is more biddable. Not a fan of most toys, will never own a dachshund and it'd take a lot for me to own a GSD. Everyone raves about them, but I just haven't met one that lives up to the hype. all the ones I come across are very skittish.

hmm.. there have been a few threads like this already.. but..

I personally couldn't own anything smaller then a Sheltie or anything outside of the Herding/Working group...

Its just "not my kind of dog".

I want a dog to WANT to work for me.. not something I need to bribe into work... (thats why Tim owns the huskys lol)

I dont think I'd ever get a breed outside of the Belgians and Shelties lol
I may dabble with a Dutchie though..

anything other just isn't a breed I'd want to personally own.

I'm not a huge fan of the hound group or terrier group.. to make it more specific.

Oh, I agree with you there. All it takes is one exception to the 'rule' and you can have an amazing dog. Sometimes the best dogs aren't the kind you'd normally pick. *looks at the papillons*

I have met one really lovely Eskie, though it was a standard. He was really well behaved and quite gorgeous. I just don't know what it is about that breed in particular that makes them get listed so often. All I know is many Miniature Eskies seem to have aggressive streaks... all the ones I've met have been horrible. Maybe I have bad luck? Or maybe the breeders should start looking more at temperament?

A funny thing happened to me. One of my least fav breeds is now 6 months old and I wouldn't part with him for the world- our little beagle. My husband wanted one desperatley and who was I to stand in his way when he accomodates my passion for the furry, drooly, Saint Bernards! He is vocal, obstinate, demanding, and truely a scent hound who can shut the rest of the world out when he finds that perfect scent (which to him can be just about anything!). He is the absolute opposite of my favorite breed, but the little fella wormed his way into my heart! A day doesn't go by without him making me laugh out loud really hard! On the plus side, he is teaching me a whole new level of understanding and communicating with dogs!
