YOU SAID IT! I've never had an "expensive" GSD, and, frankly, haven't wanted one, as all but my first one have been rescues. Bimmer and Bear are both GS mixes, Bimmer with a small percentage of wolf and Bear with Akita. Bimmer has, and Bear had a phenomenal work ethic, as did my other heart-friends. Bimmer's excellent with the cows, and Bear was great help surveying with my Dad. They also had none of the hoity-toity AKC dog problems!

I hope the AKC mavens never glom onto our Filas and ruin the breed as they have done with so many others. The Fila, like the GSD once was, is a very hardy working breed with a very specific temperament and physique.

Of course, not many people today have a need for a working breed, so many of the qualities and capabilities of working dogs are destined to fall by the wayside. It's a tragedy, really.

American Staffordshire Terrier is my favorite Medium-Large breed dog. They are so affectionate and loving. You must devote a lot of time with them because they get so attached. I love Yorkies too.

To be honest I don't really want an expensive any type of dog. I want a real dog. (Not that any "expensive" dogs aren't real!) I don't need a show dog esp. if I just want a pet. Maddie's my "real" dog :D despite what everyone thinks about the breed - she's all dog.
I still say I love all breeds ;) can't decide

Cockers really are great companions for people who love being with their dogs. The little critters just get so attached to their people, and they will do anything for their people. You and Maddie always sound like quite a matched pair!

IF i buy an expensive dog, he better be able to talk and do math. if not, mutts are just as fun and normally have less health problems.

BUT i love big dogs. Great Danes, St Bernard, Newfoundlands big dogs are fun. lol

If I had to choose one favorite breed (hard for me to do, since I love just about all dogs) it would be the Border Collie. :)

I love all types of dogs. I had a beagle/rottie mix growing up that was as gentle as a lamb. She lived for 15 years, thoroughly enriching my life. I also had a border collie (we think) mix who though we only had him for 4 months before he died was an awesome friend. Now I have a miniature australian shepherd and I am soooo hooked on this breed. My pup is so smart I can't even believe it and he follows me closer then my own shadow sometimes. I think I'd adore any dog I had in my house but if I HAD to pic a favorite I would say mini aussies are it for me, and then any mixed breed.
