phew... I hope no one feels the need to spit on my grave after I am gone for being "wierd"

Michael Jackson changed the face of music and dance. He has been the inspiration for many artists... and many regular folks or not.

I've always loved him... from the time I was 2 years old. I used to take his album cover to bed, my favorite thing to watch was the recording of the year he won all those grammy's... I watched it tens of times a day. For my birthday my daycare center I went to surprised me by playing the thriller album for me when I walked in and let us all dance to it instead of our regular routine. I was... am... and always will be a huge fan.

I personally think that Michael Jackson had been used as a pawn his entire life.. Be it by his parents, or by the VERY clever people who started the pedophilia rumours in order to get cash out of him..

I mean seriously, if your child had been molested by someone, no amount of money is going to make you "Settle" you want justice brought upon the wrong do'er.. Funny how the kids parents took the $20 million and ran.. And then the second time, he was found innocent of ALL charges..

I think he was used and abused by everyone he trusted throughout his whole life, he was their money cow to be milked as and when they wanted it..

I think he had a sad, lonely and abusive life and I think he should be pittied more than anything..

I hope that he rests in peace..

It's one thing tot alk about how questionable his recent (last decade or so) activities have been, and another to remember his life from Jackson 5 to shooting to the very top of pop stardom. I've spent a chunk of this evening watching his gems, mostly my favorites from the Thriller and Black & White albums, since those are the two I primarily grew up with. He was talented. Then his life took many tragic turns, and he died.

The end. :(

There is already a special on him. It's on right now. So sad.

Personally I don't give a rip what anyone thinks- he's a legend.

last night I was at the mall with a friend and they already had shirts that they were selling in a few stores that remembered him and paid tribute to him. I can't believe that got those printed and in stores so darn fast

I wouldn't really be surprised either way. When I first heard that he was in respiratory arrest, the first thought that came to my mind was overdose, although I don't even know if he has a strong history of drug use... it's just such a common death in famous people. And while 50 sounds way too young to die of a heart attack, I've seen it plenty of times. Being over the age of 40 is considered a relative risk factor for heart disease.
Well, they are saying now that it was possible a "prescription" drug overdose. He was taking huge amounts of morphine every day and had just taken a large amount like half an hour before he stopped breathing. His IN HOUSE cardiologist was with him when he went into arrest but then bailed for some reason and was only tracked down today.

And there are stories circulating now that his family staged an intervention not that long ago to try to get him off the prescription drugs but he wasn't having any of it. So obviously his addiction was quite bad. Did a good job of covering it up, certainly. I hadn't heard anything about him being an addict before.

I imagine this cardiologist guy has a LOT of explaining to do.

Sounds a lot like Elvis, actually. Lots of prescription drugs for a lot of medical problems, anxiety issues, and everything else... and it led to his demise. (Though in his case, it was specifically an allergic reaction.)
Very, very sad if that's what happened. The latter half of his life was so tragic... but his music will always be amazing, and always be what I remember him for. I don't remember Elvis by his death, but by his music. I hope people remember MJ for the same thing.

Ohh yeah I heard a little bit about it on the news today. I bet his cardiologist will be in biiiiiiig trouble... should be, at least! I can't believe he had an in-house cardiologist... and the dude bailed?!

Prescription drug addiction can be JUST as bad if not WORSE than addiction to street drugs... oh god I see it so much where I work. People start out taking it for their chronic pain or whatever, but then they get addicted and they can't get off it. And the doctors who prescribe it are the enablers!

Poor MJ.

Yeah, it sounds like it was really bad. I mean, enough that his parents wanted him to go to rehab. It sounds like he basically commited suicide. In the same way that drug addicts "intentionally" kill themselves.

In cases like this, though, I would also blame the person supplying the "prescription" drugs.

And get this...as if the cardiologist couldn't get any shadier...

During the 911 call (yes, it's been made public and yes, I listened to it ) the dispatcher had to REMIND the cardiologist put him on the FLOOR to do CPR. He was doing CPR on him on the bed. On the bed. How on earth could a physician be so foolish? It really makes me question ALL of his credentials. Was he taken in by the fame and wealth of being Michael Jackson's personal doctor? Bet his salary was pretty steep. Sounds like his ethics were dubious, to say the least.

And my only other "gripe" as far as the aftermath of MJ's death... It looks like Deb...Rowe, I think her name is... the mother of the first two children. She will get custody of the two oldest children. Even though she basically sold them to MJ. She gave him children and agreed to not be a part of their lives and in turn she got money. They're saying now that she will of COURSE exercise her right to those children because it'll mean even more money for her. And what will come of the youngest, who's mother's identity was kept secret. Will they be separated so a money-grabbing child-abandoner can inflate her savings account?

Funny that you mention that. I was just reading a statement made by Lisa Marie Presley. She said when they were married MJ said he was afraid that he would die like her dad, troubled, addicted, sunk into a pit of misery. Sounds like that's basically what happened. He knew even then, some 15 years ago that he was on a downward trajectory. :/
