Reggin, if you like the look of the min pin but still want snuggly--my Manchester is the best of both worlds. I love there sharp black and tan looks and Zippy is the most velcro, heat seeking, snuggly dog I've ever seen LOL! Toy Manchesters can weigh as little as 8lbs or less (with a max of 12lbs) and the standard manchesters can weigh as much as 22lbs or so. Zippy here is about 17lbs although he was bred to be a toy.

Well he is a handsome guy for sure. I've read about the breed but never actually met one in real life. They seem kind of rare. Sharp looking dogs.

I love Zippy! I think they're relatively healthy dogs too, since they're not so well known. And that's a good thing.

I've been interested in Poodles for a while. Maybe some day...I love all the sizes and would have difficulty deciding. Or even a poodle mix from a shelter. Lyric and I met a little poodle-bishon mix and he fell in love. His one chance for romance in his four short years. She was adorable and very nice looking.

But I am not into grooming. That is why I have smooth coated Chihuahuas plus they're the "original." Mine are both from a back yard breeder who wasn't the worst, I guess. They're healthy and have fantastic temperaments. I made a mistake 8 years ago, but I sure did luck out.

There are several little dogs that catch my fancy. With my life style now, I prefer a dog that isn't overly drivey but not totally placid either. That's where I've found my Chihuahuas fit in so well. But right now I'm just staying with the two Chi's I have and if I am not too old when one or both of them are gone, I will probably wind up with a little poodle mix or another Chi (love the breed) something from a shelter if it doesn't prove too difficult to acquire. I've heard a lot of stories about people not being able to adopt because they're too particular.

I so enjoy all the pictures!!!!!

There are few Manchesters around here. The lady I got my JRT breeding stock from was going from the JRTs and Manchesters to just the manchesters as her health wasn't as good. The standard Manchesters are very terrier but without the edge of the JRTs.

Friends of mine have one.. fun little dog!!!

since I live in a rather small apartment, it would be cruel for me to have the dogs I really want. which is to say, Standard Poodle, Afghan Hound, Flat-coat Retriever, and a presa.
so, I'll stick with my toy poodles. maybe one day a Coton or a Bichon, but I think I have good luck with poodles. why get off a winning streak?

I've changed my mind a little since my last post. While I still can't see myself getting a small dog, Tibbies (Tibetan Spaniels) are pretty neat little guys! I'd been doing a huge amount of research on them for my Grandma in the last few months, and in the process, I've totally fallen for them.

I love the look of the long haired whippet.... and what's this I hear about mini-aussies? What what? How cute!
Please don't feed into "mini Aussie" crazes. For the most part, they are dumbed down, smaller sized dogs meant to resemble Aussies but with different sets of brains (if any) and temperments. It's a "fad" type of thing and generally tends to result in people breeding to shelties and Poms/Paps to downsize, which erases anything "Aussie" about them. I've run into one or two breeders who are trying to keep the "mini" within an inch or two of the actual standard and still work sheep/ducks with them (so adhering sort of closely to the standard), but they're getting rarer. Most people just want the striking merle coats and blue eyes of the Aussie without the herding behaviors, which results in a brainless, high energy dog that's pretty to look at, but dumb as a box of rocks. The ASCA (parent of club of the Aussie) is vehemently against Minis.

Well besides the breeds I have...they all came to me, never actively went looking for them....but I'm definitely sticking with mini doxies in the future.

I like frenchies....if one 'comes' to me, I would own it in a heartbeat...

does a mini bull terrier count as a small breed? if so, I DEFINITELY plan on owning one..

here's a standard next to a mini

ahhh i might end up with mini doxie, bull terrier, and a frenchie in the future

I love poodles, all sizes, but since we're in a small dog thread then the toy and mini.

I also love chihuahuas, yorkies, poms, shih tzus, French Bulldogs and so many more.

But if I was to chose one to own, definitely poodle, chis or yorkies.

Cute pictures. Those Frenchies are pretty cute.

Giny, as always, I love your Poodle pictures. Better be careful if I ever come to your town. LOL. Instead of a regular pick pocket, I might turn into a poodle-pick-pocket. LOL.

Boston Terrier. I have a Boxer now and I would love to have some breed that is somewhat smaller. I call Boston Terriers Mini-Mes of boxers. :) They look so similar and goofy. Also, French Bulldogs have caught my eye.
