I'm head over heels in love with Boxers, and that has been reaffirmed now that I have one of my own. I don't think I will ever be without one. I also like Great Danes, Rottweilers, Dobermans, Aussies, Border Collies, Weimaraners and mutts.
I found out about 2 years ago that my Dad's dream dog is a Great Dane. I never heard him mention it before that. Mom will never let him get one, but I may get one someday. He is pretty much into the same breeds as I am. Animals are just drawn to my Dad. I was always jealous that every pet we had growing up favored my Dad.
My mom loves the Keeshond that she and my dad have right now, but she says after Zeus she will never get another dog. If she were to get another one, she wants a "Yorkie-poo" like the neighbors have. I have done all I can to explain to her that it is a mutt, a cute one, but a mutt all the same. It's a lost cause, so considering she would get it from a "breeder" and not a shelter, it is probably for the best that she doesn't want one.
My brother loves anything with fur. He hardly ever comes to my house just to see me, but he will call and ask if he can come see the dogs. I'm not sure what he would get if he had his choice of anything. I'll have to ask him next time I see him, I'm curious to know now.
Beagles, Pugs and Shih-Tzus seem to be the general consensus with my extended family. I have one Uncle who loves huskies, and I think he will always have one. He almost got a min pin when his first husky passed away because he thought it would be easier, but love of the breed won out. He ended up getting a rescue husky.
I joke that my husband's family's favorite breed is "tan." Every dog they own is some shade of tan. Currently his parents have a lab/chow mix and a shepherd mix and his grandmother has a chihuahua/daschund mix. Every dog he likes when we are at a shelter or anywhere else is tan. I told him I was dead set on getting a brindle boxer, but he was very happy when I just happened to fall in love with a fawn boxer.

Mostly dogs like boxers, dobes, German shepherds...

One of my sisters is more into little dogs, but she does own a boxer, so.

And then there's my dad, who just doesn't like dogs.

But yeah. Big dogs for the most part, and more specifically, boxers.

My mom really likes soft breeds like Cavaliers and Goldens.

My dad loves GSDs but is really not a "breed" person. He isn't crazy about small dogs.

My paternal grandparents like small fluffy dogs, Their heart breed is Bichon Frise. They don't like large breeds and my grandpa has pissed me off majorly by calling my rotties monsters. They buy into the whole "'pit bulls' are evil/vicious" bullshit.

My maternal grandmother is not a dog person, or an animal person at all, but she absolutely loves Millie.

My dad likes the sporting breeds. Retrievers, pointers and setters.. He's also fond of some of the giant breeds like Danes. He's got a definite fondness for dogs with drop-ears, for some reason. I just notice that most of the breeds he favors have big floppy ears. *grin* Dad likes really chill, low-maintenance dogs.

I like herding breeds, for the most part. High energy, alert dogs that have a strong desire for an "alliance" of sorts with people. I like athletic dogs, ones that keep me on my toes. I don't have a real size preference, though after owning a Papillon I can say that I worry too much about the fragility of toy breeds and (short of another Pap in the right situation) I probably wouldn't own another dog under 20lbs.

Oddly enough, my father is a Border Collie convert and no longer has any desire to own another breed. *smirk*

I never had a dog until I got married, always cats. My husband never had a cat, just dogs, now we have both.:p We have had mutts, Malamutes, Springers, Poodles and have settled on Cockers, we do love out Cockers. My husband's favorite dog is a Boxer. Ironically our breeder also loves Cockers and Boxers and has just gotten a nice Boxer female, she has already started laying out the hints for 2 yrs. down the road. NO, ain't gonna happen. We have enough to care for!!. All of our kids have pets, both dogs and cats, as well as other varied critters. I can't think of anyone on either side of our family who is not an animal person.

See, I need to convince my father that border collies are a good replacement for a nice gun dog.....

My step mom loves dogs period, I don't think she'd really care what type if my dad ever said they could get a dog.

My dad has always fancied Rotties, but will never own a dog.

My grandpa is all about the GSD's.

My step-aunt has two JRT's

Matt has always wanted and will always want a Golden. He had two as a kid, they're absolutely his dog of choice. We'll see about that.

That's the only real preferences of note in my family - every one else has shelter mutts :)
