I'm in 10th grade and we have to do a graduation project. What we have to do is pick 4 careers that we are interested in and jobshadow a person in that field, interview a different person in that field, and write a research paper on that career. I have done a baker (no clue why), and a social worker so far, only two more to go. Right now I am thinking about a paralegal, then I need only one more career.

It just got me wondering what everybody on here does (or did/wants to do) for a living.

I think that would be an awesome job puppyluv. I was actually looking into that career at one time. When I was little I always said that I would either be a zoo keeper or a vet at Alameda East Veterinary Clinic in Colorado (from the show Emergency Vets). Then I had chemistry this year...end of story. I heard that the zoo keeping field is very competitive. What are you majoring in?

Im a junior Photography major. Will graduate in Dec 2007. Then I want to mostly just stay at home with my photography stuff on the side. Also I wouldnt mind baby-sitting or pet-sitting. But after I get married and have children I definitely want to be able to stay home with my kids, but it will be good to have a little photo business on the side for a little extra money now and then.

It always amazes me that there are so many careers that people don't think of. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as an OB Sonographer, lol.

I do some pet-sitting, but I would never want to do it as a career. Right now I mainly dog-sit for my obedience trainer/4-H leader. She shows Salukis, and when she goes to shows I stay at her house with 4 Salukis (retired and ones left behind), 2 whippets, and one Italian Greyhound. She also has 2 mini horses that I care for. It's fun, but after a while I just want to go home and sleep at my own house.

Well my major is zoology, with a concentration in zoo and aquarium management. It is definitely a competitive field... but, I plan to graduate with a degree in zoology anyway ;) If I can't find a job I want to go to school to be a dog groomer.

I'm graduating (in three years mind you) with a degree in Biomedical Science. Then after that I hope to do vet school.

Yah I always forget about jobs. But ya know if you think about it, there's a job for anything. Someone has to do that job or it can't get done. Wanna coordinate the entire electrical system for the New York City subway? Someone does that. Wanna design a city? Someone does that. Wanna capture wild animals for study? Someone does that. Wanna screw thousands of people out of their hard earned money? Someone does that (actually about 305 someones I believe).

Think of something you want to do, anything at all, and there's probably a job tied to it some how. Not many jobs now a days have been mechanized to the point that we can banish human labor completely from that field.

I have an English degree so I technically should be spending my days locked in an office somewhere pouring over dusty tomes, but instead I play with dogs all day at a boarding facility as I work on getting my own pet-sitting business off of the ground.

Works for me! :D

I go from job to job. I learn everything that I can from each and when my mind is no longer challenged or I no longer feel like contributing to the delinquency of an employer I move on to new things. Currently, I am oilfield trash.

Well, I want to be a veterinarian/ trainer/ breeder/ handler. Basically anything with animals. I currently work at Chico's vet where I take the dogs outside and clean out their cages and make the vet clinic look and smell neat and clean. I hate when vet offices stink like dog **** and sh*t., that the reason why my mother and I fell in love with Chico's vet because it didn't smell. The vet is a neat freak, its so irritating.

I am a full time Pet Sitter and it is, without a doubt, the best "career" I have ever had.
I am my own boss and I get to be around animals all day long. How could it get any better than that? (Ok, admittedly the income is a little unstable at times but it's getting better!)

How's it going, Zoom?

I was a nurse for over 20 years, then a Manager for my brothers mortgage company- hated the job loved the perks working for my brother- I could bring Rio to work with me. Now own my own pet Business selling and designing pet clothing and stuff. I get to run photo contest and talk with all kinds of pet owners from around the world but its a 24/7 job.

I have my first dog-walking gig on Saturday and I'm waiting to hear back from another lady about pet-sitting at the end of the month and I talked today with my eye doctor about doing some training with him.

So, it's getting there...still have a ways to go though. Money is an issue right now, so I don't have my website up yet, or my cards printed out because I don't have any money to buy the paper.

I'm in school right now for Policing :) LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT :)

Definately the career I hope to end up in. If not that, something to do with the law.

My goal is to get in on either the Mounted Unit or the K9 unit for tracking/S&R.

I will probably work in vet offices, boarding kennels, etc etc, until I feel I have gained enough experience, knowledge, and patience to become a trainer. I love helping others and giving advice on dog care and training. All the teachers in my school come to me for dog advice. :D The hard part is getting me to shut up once they get me talking. :D
