Malcolm From Scottish Mael Coluim which means "disciple of Saint Columba". This was the name of four kings of Scotland starting in the 10th century, including Malcolm III, who became king after killing Macbeth, the usurper who had murdered his father. The character Malcolm in Shakespeare's tragedy 'Macbeth' (1606) is based on him. I just wanted a good strong Scottish name for a strong Scottish-breed dog.
Smidgen - A very small quantity or portion; a bit or mite: [Probably alteration of dialectal smitch, particle, perhaps ultimately from Middle English smite. I named her this because I had been calling her "Little Bit" as a tiny pup, but wanted something more creative and a smidgen is a little bit.
Dora from Dora the Explorer - an American animated television series that is carried on the Nickelodeon cable television network. In every episode, Dora goes on an exploring trip to find something or help somebody. I named her this because she was out of the whelping box and exploring as soon as her eyes opened!
