I'm afraid of Hannah biting someone. She acts wierd around people and I am afraid that one day she'll take a chunk out of someone and we'll have to put her down.

I'm afraid of the dogs getting out and getting lost, or hit by a car. I'm afraid of them getting sick with something that we can't cure, I'm afraid of something happening to me and them going to live with someone who doesn't understand them like I do.

2. Old age. I am terrified of losing my dogs some day.
Me too. . .it haunts me. . .:(

I am scared of dog attacks as well. . .once my aunt's rottie Xena went after Millie and it was horrifying. She had her by the throat and was trying to shake her..Millie was yelping like crazy. Of course, me being very protective and trying to save my dog and without any defense tools, not even a stick, jumped on Xena and hit her as hard as I could to get her to let go..and my mom was doing the same, and then her friend Jason got her off. . .I shiver to think what would have happened if Jason wasn't there. . ..Xena is a BIG girl and I don't think we would have been able to.
That made me even more paranoid about stray dogs, which are in an abundance around here so I carry a rock when I go around certain houses and sections of roads. Thank goodness I haven't had any real attacks again.
I do not want to have to hurt a dog, but I would to save my dogs.

I don't worry as much about a lot of the things posted above. I am concerned about BSL, both in general (because I happen to really like pits), and because I have a dog who could pass as a pit to someone who doesn't have a lot of dog knowledge.

But my biggest fear is failing Meg. I have this incredible, loving, charming dog who, when I do things right, proves what a brilliant and willing worker she is. But she is so, so soft, and so easily affected by every little event that I worry about doing the wrong thing and ruining that great attitude. I worry that I'm not giving her the time and energy she needs. She's already the best dog she can be; it's up to me to be the best owner now, and sometimes I think it's not good enough.

Biggest one of mine is one of them getting loose. The puppies and Babylon will stick around, but rest of them probably wont. And there is a whole bunch of problems that come with them getting loose. Fights with other dogs, killing people's small animals, getting shot, getting run over, etc.
Then it would when it finally comes time to say goodbye. I know that death is the only thing certain in life, but I'm dreading that day. These dogs have been such a huge part of my life, I just dont know what I would do without them.
Next would probably be animal rights activists and BSL laws. Though huskies arent as targeted with BSL as much as bully breeds, they're still considered "dangerous." And animal rights, some people just take it too far.

Tremendously afraid that the house will catch fire while I'm gone and nobody will be there to get them out. I check the coffee pot and other appliances sometimes 3 times before I leave the house. I hate flames or anything that produces a flame and I have an all electric house because of that fear even though I do know that there are of course electrical fires I don't like the thought of having a gas stove or oven or gas furnace or anything of the like.

To be honest, when it comes to Tosca I have two very strong fears.

1. That someone will steal her
2. That she will be maimed or killed on our land or while we are walking by a dog aggressive dog.

Love That, try doing fire drills with everyone, including the pets. I have been doing them with my cats for years. Of course, Tosca pitches right in now. It's easy to teach them. Just use the same call line every time and give them Primo treats. I think your fear is more common than you know. My parents' had a fire a number of years ago and I remember the horror. Till the day he died, one of their cats would howl if the smoke alarm went off or the oven smoked a bit during broiling.

RD and Casablanca, I just read your posts about DA. I agree totally. I have to admit I really resent having to change paths, freedoms, and other things for fear of dog aggression, while some people who own DA dogs don't seem to care a whit that their dog is not well controlled and can kill mine. It really fries my ice. I had a horrible summer where I had to lord over poor Tosca in her own yard because I feared what someone else's brutal dogs might do to her. These were not responsible people. In the end, both their dogs bit someone (they turned them loose late at night and early in the AM) and the dogs were taken from them. But it really cramped my ability to enjoy Tosca and Tosca's ability to enjoy her own property. I also really resent having always to be the one to scurry out of the way when somebody is coming down the street with a huge dog dragging them along. I know instinctively that if I don't DEFER to them, that my dog may not only be in danger but I may be in danger too because there is no way I am not going to work as hard as I can to beat someone else's dog to death before I let it kill mine. I have had a few very small close calls, but I always have this sinking feeling that one day I will have to deal with this. Unfortunately, the people on Chaz who have dog aggressive dogs and responsibly control them are the exception, not the every day rule.

Not being able to afford a place to live that allows large dogs

Ending up with a horror of a roommate that does something to Sawyer when I'm not home one day

BSL--I want a Rottie some day and I don't like being told no by a bunch of mis-informed idiots.

Not being able to aford something necessary, such as vet care, food, housing etc. That would definetly be my biggest concern at this point.

Second would be Lucas' health going completley down hill. I don't want to see him in more pain and I don't want to loose him.

Third is running away or being stolen. Also, since this ties in with this somewhat, my family taking him back, especially with my families threats (though not followed through yet) it makes me worry.

1. Fire- Hence why I rarely leave my dogs alone at home. They're either with me, or at my parents house. (We have a wood stove)

2. Dog attacks- For everything we do to prevent that sort of thing, (no dog parks, no off leash playing with strange dogs) other than school we never go anywhere with loose dogs... But for some reason it just keeps happening... Thank God it's never been serious.

Even though Roxy has shown the potential to bite, it doesn't really worry me anymore. Sounds odd I know. Other than my trainer, no one ever *has* to touch her or be near her. The people we see often she's ok with, so even though Roxy could very well bite, we're never in any type of situation where she could bite someone.

BLOAT. I am so paranoid when it comes to bloating. At work we get in at least 4-5 bloats a week. Its really scary and I always imagine my dog in that situation. One time Cheko ate a whole (33lb) bag of Solid Gold (I leave him with my grandmother for 15 minutes and that is what happens) and I almost had a heart attack. His stomach was huge and he could not get up off the floor. I took him in to work and he was ok, but god it was scary.

Dog attacks is another one. If it was one dog ok. But no these dogs run in packs and there is nothing I can do.

I'm also afraid of coyote attacks. That is how my last dog died in Decemeber. We lived in a suburb too! I don't even know how she got out of the house but it was awful. All her insides were outside. She lived threw the surgery to put all her organs back in but she was put to sleep 15 hours later because her lungs were filling up with blood and the vet said it was the only option we really had left.
That's terrible and must have been so horrible for you. I'm keeping my eyes out for coyote news in my town, which has never had coyotes before (East Coast, very built up) but with the way they're expanding their territory, it's just a matter of time.

1. Fire is my biggest fear, the idea of my dogs being trapped and killed while I am at work.

2. Dog theft. I have been stopped many times by "thuggish" types wanting me to breed Sal to their dog or if I wanted to sell him. I am so worried about someone sticking a gun in my face that I have started driving to an open area where I can get completely away from people. It also helps prevent the chance of stray dog attacks.

3. Fatal or crippling diseases (I am just a worry wart about my dog's health)

4. If I die what will happen to my dogs? I am not real old but Car accidents and such.... My wife is not a "Dog Person" like me and would feed them and keep them in the house but they would not get the attention they needed nor would they be as safe.

Wow thats for tripping my worry radar :p :p
